I was looking around at deck ideas several places and noticed an interesting combination of cards in one of the decks. The deck used Rise of the Hobgoblins, Natural Emergence, and Yavimaya Enchantress, as well as several other enchantments.

I love the symmetry of Rise of the Hobgoblins and Natural Emergence, where every time Hobgoblins comes into play you get more creatures, and then with emergence you can bring it back and do it again. I'd like to build a deck that plays off of that, but I"m honestly not a huge fan of Natural Emergence's actual ability. I've never been a huge fan of anything that turns my land into creatures, because land because much easier to destroy if its a creature. In a deck that relies on having enough mana to cast several enchantments per turn, allowing your land to be destroyed seems like a bad idea.

Does anyone know of other cards that return enchantments in play to your hand like this? It seems like a fun mechanic, and I'd like to try to build further on it, but I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of magic and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for . .

    Thanks!

Life and Limb really scares me . . . Pyroclasm simply ends my game. I'm playing a guy who plays only red decks. He's currently doing goblins but I think he's building a burn deck as well . . . . There's no way life and limb will work for more than a few games until he gets pyroclasm and just ruins my day.

Any good defense against pyroclasm you can suggest?

    sarpadian empires is blehhhh

3 mana for 1 token -.- 3 mana to drop the card

Rhys the Redeemed or Doubling Season runs a lot better than sarpadian

Heh. Yes, but I own sarpadian already and doubling season is pricy Wink

Alright, here's take 2 on this.

I think this seems a bit more focused. Essence Warden and Elvish Farmer both gain life for me. The thallids all set me up to gain life pretty easily with all the ways to generate saprolings.

I'd like at least one more way to generate life, but I don't know that Harmony of Nature is necessarily that way. Are there any artifacts I can use to trade mana or creatures for life? I want to make dang sure I get something out that lets me gain life every time . . . .

Given the deck/player I play against 90% of the time, I also need to consider the effect of lightning bolts on this deck. I think it'll be ok, I think lots and lots of little creatures is a better way to go, because he only has 4 bolts in his deck, but I could be wrong.

Thanks again for all the help.

Excellent, thanks so much. Should I assume the removal of the thallid germinator and savage thallid is due mostly to an attempt to focus the deck more on lifegain and less on random thallid abilities? I had assumed the ability to regenerate fungi would be incredibly useful, but the ability from sporoloth ancient to drastically increase my saproling production is probably worth it.

I have a copy of Sarpadian Empires Vol VII kicking around here somewhere, is that something I should also consider adding?

lso, do you have any suggestions for finishers? I'm thinking that a pair of Hurricanes would be quite nice, the way this deck runs, but I could be wrong.

Thanks a ton, I appreciate it. Also, I was previously unaware of pyroclasm, and since the deck I'm currently playing most often is red, that seems to completely rule out life and limb. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for the suggestions, some of those cards look especially awesome, though somewhat expensive.

Any suggestions on where to cut to incorporate any of those in? I've already got 44 nonland cards and 24 lands, which has me up around 68. For a deck that should run as fast as this deck does, that seems excessive to me. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I'd love to see some skullclamps in the deck. I'd left out Overrun, Verdant Force, and Mycoloth initially just because they're so expensive to play and I was hoping the deck would be real fast. I had figured if it turned out to lack punch, thats where I would start adding.

    Thanks again

I'm fairly new to magic, and what experience I've had has mostly been playing with Slivers. I've got a good G/W sliver deck that I really enjoy playing, but I'm looking for something else to mix it up occasionally. The guy I play against the most is looking to create a direct damage deck, so I need something that can survive against that, but would also be useful otherwise.

This is my first draft at a Saproling deck that would focus on using saprolings to overwhelm an opponent, and also on being able to sacrifice saprolings to gain substantial amounts of life. At the moment, it clearly has a few too many cards, and while there are several places I could cut, I'm just not sure where is best.

Any opinions/suggestions/flames would be welcome. Thanks again
