I'm curious what Dominaria is like these days. I haven't read the book series since they were new, but between Invasion, Onslaught, and Time Spiral blocks, who's still alive and what business is still unresolved?
I think Armored Cancrix has been the only post TSP glimpse of Dominaria we've gotten. Not much to go on, but I since Rosewater has said it's been a challenge to figure out how to define it I doubt it can tell us anything.
Its incredible disappointing that they included "just" reprints.
These sets badly need some casual love cards (beyond the schemes).
----
As it is, this product is simply too boring for any experienced player and it contains almost no value to begin with (especially as they are all reprints, some actual "fresh" cards would give it value right away, expensive reprints will just make players buy it for that reprints).
I was really looking forward to new cards that care about teammates. Since it was all one set you didn't have to worry about the "chase deck" which happened w/ Planechase 2 and COM releases. I'll have to get one for the schemes, but it is still disappointing. We've know there was not going to be new cards in this for a while. I'll be interested to see if they ever put new cards in any non-COM precons going forward.
Legendary Transguild Courier
4
3/3
Legendary Creature - Golem/whatever
~ is all colors.
Name a creature type as ~ ETB. ~ gains that creature type.
Actually Transguild doesn't have rules text anymore. It would be interesting to see how they would do a color indicator for such a card. The only other option would be to make some "un-devoid" mechanic, which would be even more terrible than devoid.
Everyone asking for slivers, please stop. This should be an opportunity to give tribal support and/or commanders in the correct color cominations for the first time. Slivers have several WUBRG legends already plus tons of tribal support. I would be hugely dissapointed if they wasted a spot in this set on more sliver tribal.
I agree, I'd rather they save designs for whenever they decide the bring them back in a Standard set. They could throw a few slivers that use an old keyword that has little or no chance of coming back if they wanted to throw a few in a deck or put in a Hivestone, but that would be the most I'd like to see. An "all slivers you control have changeling," sliver would be funny 'cause it could go in any of the decks (or ones that have U, I suppose).
Why would you want a Naya spider legend? There are two partially white spider related cards, and both suck. At least red has Giant Trap Door Spider and Dragonlair Spider.
Mostly because I've wanted a spider legend before they made any black spiders. I would like to have access to W, that and I do have a soft spot for Ancient Spider.
[quote]Also, the only problem the Shandalar Slivers had was their appearance, they didn't look like slivers. The change to their mechanics were just fine.
Pretty much being a three color tribe was not that cool (although I get why it was done for limited).
If we get a sliver deck (which is very likely), we will likely get a Sliver Queen expy with a tweaked ability and casting cost.
But each deck comes with 2 back-up commanders (and reprints), and I don't see them making a non-WUBRG sliver lord/legend.
I am still a little disappointed that the people at WotC didn't realize we wanted a Jund colored spider legend, not a Golgari one. Ishkana is nice, but it wasn't what we wanted. Still, we should have been clearer when we communicated the desire to WotC.
I actually want a Naya spider, but I figure we will get more B spiders in the future than W ones.
But PDS was a five colored deck, and the Shandalar Slivers did set the precedence that Slivers can be favored/skewered in two to three colors with very little presence in the rest of the color pie.
Ugh, Shandalar Silvers are something I don't want to see again. Even they got a WUBRG legend though. They won't make a two or three color sliver legend.
I wonder if they will do a Kaalia type commander or maybe cards like the Shadowmoor duo cards, but maybe with different creature types instead of classes and could care about each type. I suppose they could have a full on elf deck or something, but since they make alternative commanders for each deck I think they will either have the decks provide type/class options or maybe several creature types. They could do a "undead" deck that could go zombie or vampire or something.
I doubt they'd do a sliver deck because sliver lords are WUBRG and I don't see them making three new legendary slivers
The planar die is oversized? Maybe I'll have to try to find one. It looks like a nice package, but I assume the planar card box won't fit sleeved cards. I have all the planes, so as much as I love Planechase I can't see getting it.
Wow. I guess with this being the "artifact set" there had to be some crazy reprints. I much prefer Mirrodin style swords, but it's cool to see a new spin on some pretty solid reprints.
I'm just going to call it now, that mysterious head judge is more than likely Tezzeret and he'll be stealing the portal technology to bring Phyrexian to somewhere.
Well, Tezzeret would be a good way to segue to see what Nicol Bolas is doing in the next set. From the previous story I though it would be pretty lame if the set up for every block starts with some planeswalker going to the "hall of jacetus" on Ravnica to ask for help.
I think that maybe wizards received a lot of bad customer feedback for the exclusive cards in planechase 2012; availability problems, and spikes tearing the decks to shreds trying to get at shardless agent, baleful strix, and maelstrom wanderer.
It was worse for some of the Commander decks. They have had to change the distribution of cards and type of cards they make for these kind of products. They aren't going to stop making cards for Commander, so it's not like they are stopping. I can't see how cards that care about teammates would end up in eternal format decklists.
I'm pretty sure Planechase 2012 got a reprinting, but they were certainly available for a while at big box stores. Now that they are doing a single set, instead of 4, you don't have the True-Name Nemesis problem either.
Maybe COM is such a breakaway with sales comparatively they just don't want to put resources into new cards in other products. It just seems like a missed opportunity.

I'm glad I never spent any money on it at least

It's the first time for one of these sales where I didn't need to get a rain check. Good deal on stocking stuffers!
I was going to post a lot sooner, but saw you beat me to it about vehicles. Anyway, nice guesswork.
As soon as I saw they made servo tokens I wanted there to be a artifact creature crow in this set.
