I remember at a PTQ I was playing Mono-black vamps against UWr control and was staring down an Ajani Vengeant. I was so stuck on drawing a Vampire Hexmage that I completely forgot to attack the planeswalker!
The results from the different Qualifiers are really something, it really proves how this meta actually favors us. I mean seriously, ever since, control has done so little in terms of fulling stopping us, UW may came close, and closer even now, but still the fact remains that we're really the only ones who can make really shake them.
I'd ask them if there's any mathematical process to the number of each card they use. Or if they just playtest it so much that they get the right 'feel' to it.
I think he meant if you just counter it will Spell Pierce or Negate, Pithing Needle will still come back with OtV so the only real answer is Into the Roil, unless they play multiple copies of Pithing Needle all naming Time Sieve...
Ah, okay that makes sense. I thought he was talking about Into the Roil.
I have a couple of ideas for this deck.
First, I don't seem to find a way to fit them, but I'd like like to have Inquisition of Kozilek, Duress and Tidehollow Sculler in the deck. It'd be really nice to be aggressive in protecting the combo and this is the only deck that can support all 3 card consistently. Still, 12 slots... not really sure it's doable.
And what's his deck's answer to a Pithing Needle on sieve??
Tidehollow is a BAD idea. With little to no creatures (depending on the build) in the deck you're removal will be non-existant with all the extra spot removal in their hand.
what manabase screwing lol you need 1-2 BB to play 90% of your deck and 3 black is the money spot, the rest is just used as colorless mana. Think of the havoc you could case useing 4 of these and 4 tectonic edges :). your opponent will have to play almost perfect just to get his stuff off, if not well its not a crime to watch him just sit while he gets puched in the face by all the 2-3 cost vampies. (also you may even get a unapossed nocturnas or bloodwitch, which is money)
Good luck trying to cast a Gatekeeper 3rd turn then...
Here's what I'm planning on running. My only frustration was with not being able to put Doom Blades in my SB. There just didn't seem to be enough room. I could put 2 of in there but it seems to defeat the purpose of siding in my Urge to Feeds for them. I dunno...thoughts?
And for the record I don't like Consuming Vapors, I like my instants and I already have Gatekeeper for sac effects.
Creatures are terrible because because it gives your opponent a target for their useless removal.
And yet you have 2 in your list. Not making excuses for the little 2/2 cantrip guy, as I don't like him, but just thought I'd mention your contradiction.
As far as the Chalice, what are we ramping to? And can you multi-kick one coming from the GY after an OTV?
@Nicol_Bolas, I think I may be putting my Negates in the SB now and using the Spell Pierce. You're right, we should be going off before they have the extra mana. And we can side in the Negates against control to backup the Pierces. I like your thinking.
stupid stupid stupid! Cost me the whole game.
Really? Are you serious?
Doesn't look that way to me. Not to mention that Jund is still 25% of the meta.
Ah, okay that makes sense. I thought he was talking about Into the Roil.
From their hand?
Tidehollow is a BAD idea. With little to no creatures (depending on the build) in the deck you're removal will be non-existant with all the extra spot removal in their hand.
