Well, that makes these spoils suck a lot more butt that I initially thought.
If they have anything worthwhile (like a 2/2 for 2 cmc with scavenge 3) it'll definitely float in modern, at least.
If this is the real Golgari mechanic, it will be insane. Imagine every creature you have in the graveyard is some form of Increasing Savagery. Nuff said.
Is a 5/5 with no abilities for 4mana constructed playable? Probably not likely, but the mechanic itself is very promising.
Pretty much.
In combination with durable creatures that are guaranteed to come, you're just going to have a pool of perma-buffs to draw upon any time you have mana, or late game. Anything you draw will be relevant.
I think Scavenge is a very reasonable replacement to Dredge. Dredge was very weird (fun, but weird), and Scavenge is still very much in-flavor for Golgari while being much more reasonable. Also, as others have said, a 5/5 for 2GG is nothing to scoff at. It'll be awesome in Limited, and may have some Constructed applications, but I guess for that we'll have to wait and see.
Who said they were replacements? we only have three cards so far, and they seem work in tandem with the old abilities. As replacements they seem much worse.
The resurgence of (a much weaker) MBC with the new core set had me thinking a bit, and I came up with this.
Pooling DarknessBB
Enchantment
Pay 2 life: Put a Swamp card into play from your hand. Play this ability only once each turn.
Hellbent - Swamps you control have B, t: "Target player loses one life and you gain one life. Play this ability anytime you could play a sorcery." If you have no cards in hand.
I figured he effect wouldn't be too powerful, considering MBC tends to have their hand occupied most of the game, even in favorable situations.
Even with 1/1's running around, Chandra's +1 just doesn't get her in the 75.
You gotta go big with Chandra. Plow Under big. Traumatize big. Any of the Miracles. If you're going to hardcast a miracle, you might as well copy it with fire girl.
Ms. Firebrand's been around for a while now. She's going to have to see some wicked synergy in the next set if she's to see play. I'm hoping Chandra 4.0 is the breakout of the bunch.
I don't care how unplayable it is. I don't care how many people laugh. I don't care how hard it is to carry, nor the cost of additional sleeves, or even that it doesn't have the excellent original flavor text.
Battle of Wits is back in Standard. And for 15 glorious months, I will attempt to shuffle a deck taller than it is wide.
This made me laugh.
I like Gilded Lotus. Just not sure what it would be used for.
As a total aggro player, I wouldnt mind Counterspell back. It would be the only solid playable one of its kind, and we have Cavern of Souls. For them to print that land in a counter-less standard is just odd. If this had come around during LWR/ALA...
Broodmate spiritual successor!
I know!
Like that time I thought I'd play aggro unfettered every year for the last 12 years. Ugh.
Dragon is fun, but a little expensive to fit anywhere.
Most of the creatures are weak or overcost.
Flaming maces and everything.
Pretty much.
Trostani looks like its going to make so many games go into overtime.
Doesnt get much better.

Hard to miss the synergy, people.

Feel free to correct.
Seconded.
I'm thinking Rock with low mana utility/recursion creatures and equips/rancor.

The name is ill fitting, I know. Suggestions?
He simply isn't for Standard, at least as of now..
Man, I miss plow under.
Do we have any decent cards she could abuse?
This made me laugh.
