i always thought reanimator was about getting the fatty out as early as possible. as in entomb turn 1, reanimate or exhume turn 2. i guess i'm looking for cards that can make similar things happen as above ie. turn 2 oona's prowler/wild mongrel, turn 3 reanimate/exhume/animate dead/recurring nightmare.
Man-o-War is a solid creature. With the right cards its just ridiculous (ie. w/ a crystal shard). As for other blue creatures, I'm a big fan of vesuvan shapeshifter.
My cube actually has Fog Bank and Wall of Tears. These two cards can stop an aggro deck and buy the blue player time to stabilize. I don't see these two walls in any other cubes.
currently our cube has the following discard type of cards:
Duress
Thoughtseize
Hymn to Tourach
Stupor
Persecute
Mind Twist
Nezumi Shortfang
Hypnotic Specter
Shimian Specter
i'm currently on the fence about stupor... not sure of how good it is. ostracize seems like a pretty decent card and would work well with the reanimator archetype to an extent.
good stuff.
BG in my cube is the color of choice for reanimator. i was once able to draft the following deck (don't remember exactly but it was something like):
entomb
buried alive
oona's prowler
wild mongrel
survival of the fittest
reya dawnbringer
akroma angel of wrath
visara the dreadful
silvos, rogue elemental
demonic tutor
vampiric tutor
dark ritual
birds of paradise
elves of deep shadow
bitterblossom
regrowth
eternal witness
phyrexian arena
mox jet and emerald
it was close to ideal (at least of the cards i do have in the cube... if only i had a bazaar). i see karmic guide in most other cubes and i proxied her in ours... but it hasn't been too spectacular and i'm close to actually cutting her out. what am i missing here? suggestions?
What are the key cards in a reanimator deck? I know entomb, reanimate, exhume, survival and akroma are the obvious ones... but what other ones are needed?
Is Karmic Guide really a necessity?
We playtested the Negator in our cube but it is more of a liability in game and usually becomes the push card during the draft. Most of the cubes here run him though... is there something I'm missing? What's the secret to the Negator?
