For my cube it was the multicolour cards (don't support green aggro atm). Stuff like Bloodbraid, Pridemage, Horizon Canopy, Kird Ape/Loam Lion/Nacatl along with Rancor would be enough.
After testing I prefer old Kiora to the new one. I was big on new Kiora when she was spoiled but old Kiora just fits our UG decks more. Hitting her ult is often in the realm of possibility.
I like Eldritch Evolution more (though not sure what I'd cut for it myself) and surprised Tamiyo didn't make the list. Either way, nice write up bro and quite possibly my favorite one of yours yet!
This is a really strong card. Not sure how it stacks up to Reflector Mage (which has been nutz for me) but this creature definitely deserves testing. I don't love the idea of running three UW 3CMC creatures though so I have no idea what I'm going to do.
Totes with you but I think I'm just going to run all three. Sucks because both W and U 3-drops are stacked but I suppose it's a good problem to have.
We've gotten quite a few Zombie tribal enablers that are quite good on their own outside of a dedicated Zombie tribal deck, so I think this is an archetype that just might get there for cube without being parasitic. In my cube I'm already running 8 Zombies and zombie token generators including Gravecrawler and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet without making any effort whatsoever to support Zombie tribal. Any of the following along with Cryptbreaker seem like reasonable cube additions that have a lot of synergy together:
Maybe it's time to start supporting Zombie tribal explicitly?
My playgroup really likes Cryptbreaker. The fact that it is black and not blue (Cryptologist) means it can be played in BG and BR reanimator decks.
And perhaps Zombies can be a thing now--of the cards you mentioned I still do like Graveborn Muse and Fleshbag, and I want to give Relentless Dead a try.
Looks kind of like a black Enclave Cryptologist - you get a 2/2 instead of drawing a card and if you invest (may it be through its own ability or through other zombies) and it manages to stick it will allow you to draw cards. Spitting out blockers will be nice for reanimator decks. There's also something to be said about being able to turn excess lands (or stuff you can't afford to cast) into useful bodies. Makes me want to evaluate my black section to see if Zombies can now really be a thing.
She does a pretty good job at protecting herself with her + ability considering she goes to 4 loyalty. It outright kills close to 40% of the creatures in my cube and stuffs over a quarter of the creatures left. Good - ability with nice interactions (Muldrifter, Shriekmaw, Glen Elandra, reuse ETB effects, etc) and useful in a number of black decks. It's card advantage and can even be used in aggro decks (Skullclamp, Braids/Stax, Bloodghast, Keldon Marauders, and even Living Death to an extent).
Considering how well 3 mana walkers have performed I'll be including her.
Wasteland (Player Rewards) and Braids are great... But Delver of Secrets' flipside is the best.
Do not, I repeat, do not cut Ugin
