More excited about this Pro Tour than any PT in years! Debuting brand new format = very interesting. Looking forward to seeing what happens, seeing the new tech, and seeing what we can learn about this format.
No matter what the card is, it will have the normal frame proportions. There is no reason to believe otherwise, because Greater Morphling isn't any sort of reference for anything.
I think that there is absolutely no basis for your "more text = needs better art." This correlation makes no sense to me. Liliana could have 5 +1 abilities that are all less than a full line of text.
Uh, that's not what he's saying at all. Read the first post again. The OP isn't saying "more text = needs better art"; he's saying "more text = needs art whose composition allows it to be cropped more," which makes sense.
im not familiar with dragonstorm, but if you did draw your dragons, wouldn't ou need a way to put them back? While brainstorm is not legal, i would suggest a see beyond.
With Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund, you only need three dragons to win the same turn. And most people play five dragons anyway, so that you're still okay even with one drawn. And you don't necessarily have to win in a single turn, though obviously, you would like to do so.
Same here. I've hit Refresh/Reload a lot after first clearing my browser cache (to ensure that it's not loading from cache), and tried multiple different browsers too. Doesn't matter: in the jump menu, Modern still shows up under 'Official' Casual Formats rather than between Extended and Legacy.
no this isn't for just ally color tribes this is for enemy color tribes as well
There's no evidence there are going to be any enemy-color tribes in the set. All the tribes revealed at Comic-Con were allied-colors, and tribal is only a subtheme, rather than a main theme, of the set, making it unlikely that the set is going to support enemy-color as well as allied-color tribes. Enemy-color tribes are baseless speculation.
At the very least, to let people know MaRo made this announcement, since there was no thread on this in the Rumor Mill? This is useful information to know about. It's also interesting that there is going to be another multi-year plan, and it'll be fun watching the steps of the plan unfold in the years to come.
They aren't going back to Homelands, someone asked MaRo about a return to Mercadia and he said it wasn't going to happen because of the strong negative reaction to the original set. And Homelands is the only set more reviled than Masques.
Not quite. Homelands' gameplay was reviled. However, Homeland's setting and flavor are much beloved by many Vorthos, hence the frequent threads (that have been going on for years) in this Speculation forum about a return to Ulgrotha, when almost nobody ever talks about a return to Mercadia (which had a reviled story to go with its bad gameplay).
No, Consume Spirit is a true reprint (having been printed in many sets before M12), not a functional reprint. This thread is about functional reprints and colorshifts, not true reprints (of which, not counting basic lands, there are exactly 131 in M12).
And for that matter, Consume Spirit has never been a functional reprint of Drain Life, not even in Consume Spirit's original Mirrodin printing, since Drain Life has additional text specifying a cap on the amount of life you can gain and is thus functionally different.
Just like I did for past core sets (see links below), I'm going to compile a list of functional reprints and colorshifts in Magic 2012 for easy reference. For these lists, if a card is both a functional reprint and a colorshift, the former status overrides the latter. I am including creatures/instants/sorceries whose only change was their creature/instant/sorcery subtype. Within each list item, the original cards are listed in printed (rather than alphabetical) order.
Gladecover Scout is almost a colorshifted Slippery Bogle, but it features a shift from hybrid to monocolor mana rather than the normal shift of one type of monocolor mana to another.
Am I missing any functional reprints or colorshifts? If so, please let me know, and I'll edit them into this post and credit you for finding them! Thanks.
List a top 8? Well dude, green isn't even in the top 8, and I doubt that's autumn's veil's fault. Maybe when green actually becomes a threat, then the card will be used, it does not suck, but the circumstances don't permit a deck to go that heavy on green and still be successful at a tournament level. If it becomes prudent to just play big fatties like primeval titan and not use a support color then I imagine more green cards in general will see play. Surely, Fauna shaman does not suck and it was not in any top 8's either. Do you think vengevine sucks b/c it doesn't beat jace and cawblade? Tough criteria, man.
Contrary to your premise that good cards don't appear in top 8s, Fauna Shaman, Primeval Titan, and Vengevine have all appeared in top 8s at constructed Premier Events. Because they're actually good. Ever heard of decks like Survival? Valakut Titan? Dredgevine?
Autumn's Veil hasn't appeared in top 8s at constructed Premier Events. Not even in sideboards. Because it sucks that bad.
I think deep ones are fish people not salamander people.
Deep Ones have characteristics of several aquatic animals, including frogs and fish, and I never said Deep Ones were salamanders; I said that the flavor text is strongly evocative of Deep Ones: stealthily-invading (in the sense that they invade by slowly and progressively taking over, rather than an all-out military invasion) race of intelligent humanoid sea horrors.
They also have similarities to the Sahuagin and Kuo-toa of Dungeons & Dragons, and to a lesser extent the Murlocs (who are not so intelligent) and Mur'gul of Warcraft.

No reason to believe otherwise? Jace, the Mind Sculptor says otherwise.

so quickly in the wake of WotC's announcement that they will be officially supporting it.
However, in the Forum Jump pop-up menu, Modern is still incorrectly listed under 'Official' Casual Formats. That should be fixed.
Your order and spelling are wrong. It's actually Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

Are you seriously comparing Autumn's Veil to Fauna Shaman, Primeval Titan, and Vengevine?

Thrun, the Last Troll is (1) not a specifically blue/black hoser (2) not an instant or sorcery, and (3) not uncommon.

Furthermore, we know Innistrad has a horror theme, and the evocative flavor text of Amphin Cutthroat strongly suggests horror writer H. P. Lovecraft's Deep Ones.
They also have similarities to the Sahuagin and Kuo-toa of Dungeons & Dragons, and to a lesser extent the Murlocs (who are not so intelligent) and Mur'gul of Warcraft.
