1. How long have you been playing magic? (What was the current expansion when you started playing)?
2. What is your favorite set?
3. What set do you think is the most powerful set out of all sets and WHY?
4. What is your favorite block?
5. What block do you think is the most powerful out of all the blocks and WHY?
6. What is your favorite card and WHY?
1. Tempest
2. Urza's Saga
3. Alpha/Beta/Unlimited/Revised. P9 all the way baby.
4. Mirrodin Block
5. Urza block. Sooooooo many powerhouse cards came out of that block. Memory Jar much?
6. Hard to say, toss up between Cloudpost and Morphling. Cloudpost because I like lots of mana. Morphling because, well, he's superman whatelse do I need to say?
So I am making a deck for Dragon Broodmother, and I am looking for some kind of good replacement for Vine Trellis because I want to make it T2. I was thinking Devoted Druid but it doesn't really do it for me. Are there any creatures in standard that accelerate and have more than toughness 1 other than the druid?
A big problem I just realized with playing a lot of the border posts in a given deck in your land slots is that you basically take maelstrom pulse from being a slightly worse vindicate with a cool ability, to being vindicate with a cool ability.
Might not seem like much but if you have 2 or 3 border posts in play instead of lands, and they get nuked all at once, you are going to be finished.
The border posts will be decent in limited i suppose. They are only useful if you can get them out turn 1 though in which case they are just CIPT dual lands that are a bit more vulnerable.
Yeah, I dont have any commands so thats kinda bust. Also, the problem with playing only a single progenitus is that if you draw him, you lose. At least with two you can still staff into the second. A+ on spell snare though, thats solid.
Anything edible that comes out of a plant is a fruit, technically.
Not true at all. A carrot is something edible that comes out of a plant. A fruit is the ovaries of a given plant. Typically this means the the fruit is the seed bearing part of the plant, though seeds do not have to come from fruit.
I was thinking about using Rune Snag, and it is certainly better than Cancel atleast for this application, but I don't know if I like it more than Condescend or not. The counters are really just for the first few turns while I am getting the staff and a token out, so my opponent usually won't have a lot of land available and will most likely be tapping out to cast his spells. That means that Condescend would usually only cost 1U to work, and I get to scry off of that. Granted Rune Snag is more efficient for anything later in the game but, by then I either have the man out or I am going to lose anyway.
Any suggestions? Particularly with respect to the counter suite. I definitely like Mana Leak and I think that Muddle is good since it can transmute for the staff, but I am not completely sold on Condescend. It's nice to be able to scry since this deck needs its pieces to go off, but are there any better counterspells available for extended you guys can think of?
Well, it could be an actual dragon lord, seeing how dragons have never gotten one. Even giants and trees got one in Lorwyn. It could be a 7 mana Shivan Dragon that gives all other dragons you control +2/+2 and firebreathing or something.

Maelstrom pulse is hotness though. Wow.

7 Forest
9 Island
1 Faerie Conclave
3 Treetop Village
4 Breeding Pool
2 Progenitus
Spells
4 Fabricate
3 Pulse of the Tangle
4 Vitality Charm
4 Serum Visions
4 Sprout
3 Condescend
4 Mana Leak
4 Muddle the Mixture
4 Proteus Staff
Basically use either Muddle the Mixture or Fabricate to get a Proteus Staff and play it. Then just staff one of your many tokens or manlands to get king fatty into play.
With a pinch of luck you can get him out by turn 4.
