Black/Red Planeswalker could easily be a deck ; just pack removal and win with either Chandra/Sorin/Koth ; you even have enough burn to win anyway.

While it might be cool to have such "Obvisious" Planeswalker interactions , it also makes the game too much "Planeswalker" focused.

If the game gets to the point were you "must" play Planeswalkers to have a competitive deck, than something is either wrong, or magic just got to that point.

I like this "Garruck" the most.

So hopefully its real, as the other Fakes were very dissapointing.

Thornling also had the weakness of being unable to untap itself. It was a powerful attacker being able to turn itself into a 7/1 trample indestructible but it couldn't untap and defend

Which was not really its problem.

If you played Thornling, than simply because indestructible was the key.

If you want an efficient creature, the Morphling cards lost a lot of value with the missing damage stack, and eating so much mana seems like a bad deal, if you can simply play stuff that is better right from the start (currently Titans).

I think sir, that you are forgetting the garbage that is Nissa Revane and Sorin Markov.

Sorin is an EDH allstar with his abilities.

However, Nissa is a complete fail, as she forces you to play the horrible 2/3 elf, together with tons of more elfs that will not help the actual "elf" gameplan.

Overall 5 is a "safe" cost for a walker, as 4 mana makes them pretty much constructed powerhouses (Koth, Jace, Garruck, Elspeth) ; while 5 is nice, but not really worth it.

Crazy how much +1 mana can do, but thats the truth.

Reprinting JTMS is pretty unlickly, as that would just screw Standard for another time.

Making new Walkers seems the best, as we all like "new" cards instead of reprints anyway.

Not even close. Back when you could stack damage a Goblin Fanatic could kill a X/2. If they made a 1/1 first striker with that ability then we'd be somewhere closer to it.

Funny is at the time Mogg Fanatic was printed, it could not kill a 2 thoughness creature ; just after the rulez update it could.

And after several time, it is unable to do so again.

    Kinda ironic in this case.

If your table allows you to resolve a 30+ mana spell, they deserve to lose. Using that as an example of game balance is silly.

But thats something you will discover in EDH "balance" discussions all the time.

    One thing should be clear.

YOU CANT BANN ALL COMBOS !

For that we have way too many.

But a good point is how fast a combo is.

Palynchron + Double Mana is most the the time fair enough, as its slow and requires a lot of lands and multiple cards ; however something like Worldgorger will simply pop out and win right away.

With Necromancy it instant speed ; so you need very very specific answers to that combo.

The bad part is that the combo is not played without anything else, its a simpel blue/black deck, and if it can reanimate Worldgorger its simply over.

Combos like this damage the game, as you force the players to have counters around and keep hate ready, as you "could" all the time just win out of nowhere.

Stuff like Upheavel / Biorhytmn are also pretty much "win right away" ; recurring nightmare on the other side is way slower and predictable ; you also need more pieces to make it work.

So if something "should" be banned, than cards that really end the game whenever they are cast , most obvisious Biorhytmn.

Others, even Mox / Black Lotus and stuff like that are insane strong, but you can easily allow them, if theirs just "normal" stuff to ramp in.

As long as players dont abuse the combo cards , they wont be problematic.

Warning: Do not play Animate Dead on a Worldgorger Dragon when it's the only creature in any graveyard and you have no instant-speed way to use infinite mana.

If you have absolute nothing to work with, you really play the wrong deck.

You just have to be blue/black , if you like, take Deceiver/Kiki-Jiki/SplinterTwin as your red stuff (maybe Gamble).

However a big problem with this combo decks is the "speed" ; they are horrible fast and its a giant pain to stop this decks.

You really have to pack counterspells and massiv discard in your playgroup, the creature decks simply cant win unless they have super super random hate that hits right as it needs to.

As the format is, you either need no banned list at all, as your playgroup just decides to "not play" the good combos ; or it totally gets in a "we all play combo" format ; as anything else while fun, is just worser.

So taking this, its allready a format full of Azami / Teferi.

Either you play massiv "Anti-Combo" or you play massiv amounts of Combo ; well, or you do both.

Most of the players go for "Commander" for fun ; so the banned list is mostly meaningless ; if you want Kokusho, just play it, if you want Emrakul, go for it.

As long as you dont get totally absurd with them, they are not worser than anything else.

    I see two potential reasons:

It would be overpowered in Political Puppets

They want you to buy both decks

Obvisious you buy all 5 no matter what ...

The cards effect is not only a "hoser" against blue, which is welcome and generally usefull, especially in EDH.

If i see this "counter" Insurrection and stuff like that, aswell as Bribery, Gilded Drake and stuff ; it does so much actual.

If you want to, just use the effect to abuse your own little combos; theirs a fair number of cards that "exchange" against something; use the creatures that do so and be good with it.

Maybe we will even get some really really usefull "combo" with this land, its just a tap ability, and its not "enters tapped" or anything ; so the potential is high and i will get at least 4 of this card ASAP.

Why does EVERYONE think that this card is only used to answer the card that's actually played with storm.

This card is BETTER than Mindbreak Trap. One reason: Time Spiral.

You mindbreak trap a time spiral and you get Force of Willed into oblivion. They could have Pact of Negation for that matter. If you get this with a storm count of 8-10 it will counter Time Spiral and be uncounterable.

Its pretty good against storm, but it still costs mana, even if its just 1.

Overall its really a counter that gets better in Multiplayer.

If your playgroup is full of blue that create giant stacks, this is the supreme king card that just shuts them down.

Would it be "non-creature" , this card would just be insane strong.

Kind of strange that it doesnt say "attacking creatures" for the doublestrike.

This way the blockers will be at least as stupid as your attackers.

Would be way more usefull to get an all-in attack with doublestrike before the fun is over.

Quality wise its pretty much allways worser than Primeval Titan and other 6 drops like Multani (which is bigger most the time and has shroud).

So its not that of a crazy deal to get a 4GG 8/8 ; it doesnt have "real" trample or anything to keep it alive ; and rarely a creatre survives even a singel turn in EDH unless it has some form of protection that keeps it alive.

A nice card, but it really does nothing "crazy" that makes it really really awesome.

*However i still like the idea to give it poisen for a kill everyone with 1 attack (or berserk like stuff).

Doesn't feel very white, and definitely isn't blue. Also, pretty weak. Even if you can negate the drawback, 7/7 vanilla legend for 1RWU is horrible at any rarity, especially in Legacy where this will be legal. Non-legendary less rare 8/8 uncounterable tramplers for 3GGG aren't even playable in Standard.

The card is easily just red and nothing else.

However, its the type of card like other vanilla beaters, add a bunch of colors to your card and just make it bigger.

Theirs little reason to make a card 5/4 for WRG , making it 7/7 for 1WUR isnt that far fetched.

The difference in mana is huge, as 4 mana is "way" less than 6.

But in todays magic, vanilla creatures are pretty bad to start with, even Tarmagoyf is going to be less and less powerfull ; simply because theirs so much other stuff that allready trumps it.

Overall in EDH a "vanilla" is pretty bad to start with, as the format should be full of insane fatties that have an immediatly effect ; but its a card that is pretty decent in Duels, as nearly everyone sees.

So 1v1 EDH, its a pretty nice card for aggressive America Decks, and it really does not much else than that, as for anything else, theirs simply better alternatives.

I've always wondered... what's with the decimal place? Are there incremental updates or fractions of cards? Was there ever a Jace 1.6? If not, can't we just say Liliana 2 and leave the decimal off?

I'm rather confident that we'll eventually see a BG Nissa.

The hole decimal thing comes from the "version" numbers for software and the like.

Normally "big" release versions are the big numbers 1.0 , 2.0 etc.

Just small changes are lesser numbers 1.1 , 1.2 etc.

So if you like it, you could name the real original jace 1.0 , and its reprints 1.1 , 1.2 etc.

Mindsculpter is 2.0 and its "hopefully never" existing reprints 2.1 , 2.2 etc.

But peops will keep saying 1.0 / 2.0 , as its simply how the internet works in this area ; stuff is named in versions if its makes them look "cooler" and the mainstream is fine with that.
