I think the one thing that has not been discussed in evaluating this card, it's not the density of the search library cards in cube, but also the main deck rate of those cards. Cards Like Imperial Seal, Demonic Tutor, and most of the fetch lands almost always make the main decks they get drafted in.

Agreed, and most of the tutors and fetches are super powerful. I'm more inclined to include cards that are strong against a narrower range of effects if those effects are powerful. Including a card that's a bullet for Demonic Tutor feels better than including a card that's a windmill slam against Jackal Pup. :p

This is a good card. High risk/high reward, but it can kill at Rabbblemaster speed and draw an extra card every turn while doing it. Of course, if you're under any kind of pressure it can be a card too risky to cast, but in the right windows, it's pretty insane.

This card is great at killing control decks and combo decks that don't apply early pressure against the red zone. This is one of the best cards for the control mirror that I can remember. Against any deck that can't provide consistent early pressure, it'll be a powerhouse, I think.

The fact that this is only 3 mana and draws cards while milling makes it everything for me that I ever wanted the 5cc Jace to be (which I cut for not being good enough).

I aim to test this and see how it does. I expect it to be a powerful, albeit situational, card that will feel broken in some windows and unplayable in others. Not a huge fan of that kind of feeling overall, but I think the powerlevel is high enough to justify a test.

My answer would be to bring my Cube along and play Cube, but that is partially due to me not liking the Commander-Format.^^

    This is correct. Smile

I'd play this if it had Trample, and test it if it had Menace or some other useful keyword. As it is, I don't think this does it for me, despite being cool with Flash and Tinker and stuff.

You also run the risk of attempting to cast a spell multiple times, failing both times, and not having the colored mana required to attempt to cast it again ...netting you nothing at the end of your exchange because you can't attempt to cast the spell again at all.

I think this card is sweet. The floor of being a 3/2 flash or a pseudo removal spell for 3 mana is acceptable when you consider the ceiling on the card of being a savage, disruptive 3-for-1. Plus, it still disrupts all the opponent's tutoring while it's sitting on the battlefield; not just the turn it's flashed into play. They'll have to remove it before they can fetch/tutor again. I'll likely be testing this.

Another one I'm on the fence about. I like having the redundancy at the Natural Order slot, but I'm not sold on the card itself being great. We'll see I guess.

The competition is fierce, but Monarch is really strong. I'm on the fence about this one.

If it just had the copying upside if I "won" the flip, I'd be interested. But with the drawback of Unsubstantiating your own spells when you "lose" flips, I think I can pass.

It's good with super cheap spells though, and you still get "cast" triggers even if your spell is bounced, so there's hope that the card could be good still. But my gut says it's a miss.

Agadeem's Awakening has been great. I'd go with that for sure.

I've noticed that the protection is incredibly relevant and artificially makes Green - White, Blue- Black and Red-Green slightly weaker.

I been thinking of balancing this deficiency with rewarding these color combinations with an extra hybrid card in each of these guides. Any thoughts?

    Confused

Don't you mean that it makes those guilds stronger? It's a drawback to have a Sword that's good against both of your colors. So those combinations would be at an advantage against the others, following your theory. So do you want to take tools away from Selesnya because there's no anti-Selesnya Sword? Seems unnecessary.

Working quite well so far. No complaints. In decks playing multiple lands a turn and cracking fetches and stuff, Fledgling/Kudzu are super cool.

I don't think it needs dedicated tribal support. It's easy to find veins of shared creature types that run through most creature decks naturally, and sometimes it can be an upside to be more selective with which creatures it can grab. 3-4 overlapping tribal types in the same deck is more than enough for it to almost guarantee a death trigger on most every board.

If you can combo with Kroxa, I'd play that. Otherwise, Dreadbore.
