I enjoy reading/listening to different opinions, techniques, strategies, etc. I got better at Burn because Ive seen interesting ideas and tips that I never knew/thought of. MagicDownunder videos is just 1 example.
I was SUMMONED!! Thanks for the shout-out.
Here are some different opinions:
1) In Naya Burn (with Atarka or Cat MD) the fastland SHOULD be Copperline Gorge (if you plan on running fast lands at all) because the first FETCH should be for RW. Here is my reasoning and my argument with E1985:
E1985: You should always fetch white first, but that's because you need white more frequently and earlier.
MDU: I agree which is why I do it. With 1 fast lands the odds of not seeing it in your opener is 88.33% so your most likely going to fetch for white first.
E1985: In general, you replace shocks with fastlands (I went from 3 Foundry to 2+1Vantage), so your argument amounts to "white is more important, so you should play more stomping grounds". You have it backwards.
MDU: My argument is that since you:
You should always fetch white first, but that's because you need white more frequently and earlier.
If the next topdeck land you draw is vantage and not another fetch you could be locked out of green (being stuck on 2-3 lands happens often enough).
[EDIT] Just to clarify I see the first 10-12 fetch as a white source, thus including the 2x Foundry that is 12-14 white sources. Odd of hitting white are MUCH higher then hitting green, if vantage is being played that number increases further and thus hurts hitting green even more.

I felt kinda vindicated when channelfireball posted a Naya Burn list with copperlines shortly after...
2) Don't always bolt the bird.
My reasoning: "Bolting the Bird" was something which applies more towards Midrange or Aggro decks running Bolt as side with creatures as a main wincon - with Burn... Bolt IS our wincon. I would personally only "Bolt" the land uptapping Elf in Ponza and maybe Noble (Unless I have a hand with 2 creatures or something).
3) Kor Firewalker is a clutch.
My reasoning: Its so narrow... you could just run extra PtE, Bloods or Palm which are good against the mirror and also hit other MUs.
4) Don't bring in Drev against Taxes or Fish.
My reasoning: Forcing yourself into your 3rd color is playing into their land denial plan.
35 people last saturday won with a lot of Shadows and Tron decks.
I play with the usual 60, 20 lands, 4 searing... And play with this sideboard:
3 deflecting palm
3 path to exile
3 Destructive revelry
2 Ensnaring Bridge
2 Kor Firewalker
2 rest in peace
Against shadows I turn to a "control" way:
-4 searing
-4 rift bolt
-1 Helix
-1 Skullcrack
3 deflecting palm
3 path to exile
2 Ensnaring Bridge
2 rest in peace
In general I always use bridge and make me really happy. Kor firewalker are never used but I think that this is because I didn't found mirror. Do you like my side? Or something should be changed?
The 75 is fine - you will almost scoop against Titan Shift, Gx Tron and UWx Control plans but that is fine (you can't board against everything).
I don't like your Shadow plan but since you won against lots of Shadow and Tron in your local store keep with it.
I do want enough fast lands and shocks to be able to reduce life loss from a turn 1 Fetch + Shock. But I also don't want to see fetches once I have white mana, and want basics for blood moon/path to exile/ghost quarter reasons. Which mana base would be more ideal?
Dropping a fetch for a mountain leaves my turn 1 duals- without fetching - at 7. But reduces my chances of shocking twice, which I'd like to avoid doing. Which gives better results for my life total? Does this even really make a difference?
19 lands - 4 Vantage, 4 Foundry, 8 fetches, 3 Mountain <-- Is better since drawing all Mountains would be horrible.
I'm planning to switch to Boros burn soon. This is my sideboard plan: 3x Path to Exile, 2x Deflecting Palm, 3x Kor Firewalker, 3x Wear//Tear, 2x Shattering Spree, 2x Searing Blaze (Blood in the main)
Is this a strong sideboard? What is the current consensus on Boros sideboards?
Depends on your meta...
Searing Blood would be good if you see tons on >2 creatures, Flames of the Blood Hand if you see Titan Shift and other lifegain.decks, Relics for Yard-Hate... so on and so-forth.
P.S. It always amuses me when people copy a GP list and go 0-5 during FNM and whine when they don't have the tools catered for their own meta (like running 3x Kors which are ONLY good against burn in a meta which doesn't see much burn).
I forgot about this, thanks for the reminder. I found the article he wrote. I know its 7 months ago but he makes some good points.
He has more recent articles (some which includes burn) but you'll need to pay to get past the paywall.

Anyhow I'm all for 2x Shattering Spree since I notice that the Eldrazi-Tron grinders have worked out that we only have Lightning Bolt and Lava Spike in the 1cc slot so unless they have two or if its on turn two its just better to name chalice on 2.
Spree being able to hit chalice at both 1 and 2 is huge imo.
Has anybody some tipps how to fight Eldrazi versions? I keep constantly losing, boarding PtE and DP doesn't help much. How do you sideboard against decks with Smasher and TKS?
Thanks for your help!
Its a bad MU.
If its only those two cards which are bothering you then Ensnaring Bridge maybe your answer. (I would argue the main threat is chalice rather then anything else.... esp. chalice on two).
sure seem like many scare burn players lately. I new 2 burn, learning 2 adapt and overcome difficulties. either people are super worry or not at all. win some lose some, can not win all time. I enjoy burn so pick up deck, maybe it get tough but in America professor say tough get going
Running Leyline of Sanctity to combat discard seem silly since your pretty much self-discarding for all the times you mull to having it in your opening and for the number you drop in the opening.
What I recommend you do is ignore the discard just do NOTHING beside play creatures and stock pile your spells until you can finish them in one go (unless they drop an early threat).
But yes, I play RW version and did 4-1. 2 Eldrazi, 1 Esper w/o counters and splash nahiri (??never saw this deck) 1 Storm. Lost to Jeskai Control (9-0 vegas version).
Other League...2-3. lost to hate bears, DS, abzan. Won Eldrazi and KCI.
So Burn seems not well now MTGO, and I dont know IRL tournaments. GP Vegas was strange too many ppl, lot of decks and here where pairings helps.
Nacatl doesnt survive and taking damage for stomping ground and sacred foundry now seems bad idea. Burn not fast like before, collective brutality and kaladesh lands helps avoid damage.
Im not confortable w/ burn like before. Its tier 1, can adapt to meta, but I cant see it. I just play it praying for good pairs, until I find other deck.
What has changed? I literally have ONLY been playing burn and I'm on 1813 rating.
Burn is still has the 4th most finishes online (though this is mostly likely due to burns availability).
Has anyone extensively tested Naya Burn (w/ Atarka but no cat) and Naya Burn (w/ Atarka and Cat) against the current meta on MTGO? How is it doing so far? The reason I asked is because during GP Vegas, in the 15th round (I went 11-4), it was the mirror. I beat him when I'm playing Nocatl Burn (w/ Atarka) and he was playing Nacatl Burn. I asked him how were his Death's Shadow match ups. He told me he beat all of them (3 matches, if I remember correctly). He explained that an unanswered Nacatl easily takes over the game.
I also noticed that there's barely any deck being posted that went 5-0 in a league on MTGO that maindecks Atarka's Command (w/ or w/o Nacatl). I wonder if no one on MTGO is playing Naya Burn anymore or it's because that Burn decks playing Atarka's Command have a harder time going 5-0. I know that not all decks are being posted but if there was a Naya Burn deck going 5-0, at least a few should show up by now.
I'm not asking why Atarka's Command is not being maindecked anymore. I'm asking how exactly (w/ evidence) Atarka's Command and Nacatl is doing against the current meta, especially online.
I was playing Boros Burn with Naya sideboard (4x Atarka's Command in the board) for about two months online before Taxes did well in the GP - I thought it was great. Its slightly weaker right now due to the taxes bandwagon but that should change in a few weeks.
Earthshaker Khenra 1R Rare
Creature - Jackal Warrior
Haste
When ~ enters the battlefield, target creature with power less than or equal to ~'s power can't block this turn.
Eternalize 4RR
2/1
2/1 with haste with an ETB that stops 1 creature with 2 or less power from blocking you. This will kick ass in limited but I'm still working on my burn skills to find out if this is a budget option for Goblin Guide as a haste that swings for 2 or if the SOB actually has a spot in the modern version.
Eternalize is cool but if we are ever at 6 mana and our opponant isn't dead, we are.
That card might be fine for a standard RDW list, but it has no legs in Burn. For budget options at 2 mana, I'm not sure there's much better than Hellspark Elemental and Keldon Marauders. Ash Zealot is ok, too.
Depends... if tokens is huge in your metagame it could see some room in sideboard. Kinda like Harsh mentor vs HateBears or Kor vs Mirror or Taag vs Combo.

I like these RW list but it does feel bad to just concede against random hate-cards.
Hitting 3-5 lands really helps with the stock pile plan since you usually want to play 4-5 spells when you pull the trigger.

He has 2x Shattering Spree (something which I've been doing as well) in his sideboard though to get around Chalice for 1 and 2.
Try and use your 1-drops first to get around chalice and then pray they don't chalice for two vs Eldrazi Tron.
Sideboards which are effective against both include Path to Exile, Ensnaring Bridge and Deflecting Palm

I would argue NO since being forced into your third color against Vial decks which ALL prey on ruining your land base isn't worth it.
Its better imo to just hope to draw your lands and fetch correctly.
