Should I run this over Smash to Smithereens?

Probably, though Smash might be better in really aggressive red decks with a low land count. But mostly this card seems better for most builds. It could also replace a Vandal or a 2 cc anti artifact dude, depending on how many of those you run.

This. Most of my players in my playgroup either started playing a long time ago but stopped and came back recently. These people tend to HATE planeswalkers and combat damage not going on the stack anymore. The other half of my playgroup started playing in the "modern" era, and they often ask me why "bad" cards like Balance and Upheaval are in the cube. Just last weekend I cast Recurring Nightmare and my opponent was like "what's that?" Same went for Parallax Wave that night, except that wasn't cast by me.

One good Balance will quickly show them how bad that card is :p Few things in Magic are so unfair as a well timed Balance. Losing three lands, all your creatures and to cards in your hand for just two mana is more then brutal.

Generally you only need to get your ass kicked once like this, to understand how balanced Balance actually is.

I don't see why someonevwould want to cut Grafted Wargear... The card is absolutly insane. You got to be kidding.

It used to be a staple but still is. I alao think it's even better than some of the swords in a lot of agressive decks.

This x100. I pick Wargear over a Sword quite often in hard aggro. It also brings more to the cube then a fifth sword. Not that I am advocating cutting a Sword. Now that would be crazy talk Wink

EDIT: Maybe if you don't support aggro. Then I might understand cutting it in a small cube.

I don't get what people see in Endless One. Sure it is flexible, but in no mode is it ever near cubable. The closest you come is 3/3 for 3 and 4/4 for 4. It is always sub par, but never bad. At least Chimeric Mass has a form of evasion.

So we are paying 7 mana for a 4/4 flying with no immediate board impact? Or 'eight' with a not very powerful landfall trigger? This is very sub par. I would not even be interested if it cost 4WW.

It would have needed to be 7/7, or have a big butt and hexproof, or bring the permanents directly into play (limited by cc perhaps. As is it is missing a lot to justify its casting cost.

posted a message on Un-Fun Cube Cards
People seem to get worked up about a lot of things apparently Confused Confused Milling, protection, hexproof, defensive cards, land destruction, discard, Power Play, fast mana, stealing stuff, combo's, ...

Most of these have answers to them. If your deck cannot deal with artefacts or enchantments it is a serious flaw in the deck. Wrath and edicts exist for a reason, to get rid of pesky protection creatures and cards like Thrun and Inkwell. If you remove the problem cards, the answers will become worse and this will make the issue even bigger as people see a Disenchant as 'just' a Disenchant, instead of 'Yes!, finally a Disenchant!'. Vandals and green monkeys variants can be key to disrupt fast mana for example.

And then you have the most simple option. Just kill the other guy before he kills you. Sure he might be milling you with Jace, but you can attack into Jace or just get his life total under zero. That always does the trick. Also there doesn't have to be interaction with every card of your opponent. The interaction is found in the game state and how you can change it by attacking, casting spells and so on. Sure you cannot Bolt a True Name Nemesis, but you can force it to stay home to defend. You can use flyers, shadowers and so on to bypass it. You can use Braids, or Jace, the memory Adept to change the damage race in something else.

Or you could always resign, say 'Well played' and try to bash that irritating deck into the ground in the next game. That said if you mainly play with people who become really unhappy when faced with certain cards and refuse to be educated in ways to deal with this, the right thing is indeed to cut the guilty cards. Cube is suppose to be fun and all my arguments become moot when that is not the case anymore.

I prefer Surak over Vengevine. And also Polukranos and Thrun. So fourth best aggressive four drop. Seems more like this is 500-600 material.
