A permanent that enters with counters, will exist on the battlefield with that counter from its very first moment. There is never a time, when the counter is not on the permanent. You cannot respond to this. But a permanent entering the battlefield with counters counts a placing counters on that permanent, so you still get the trigger from Animation Module.

Ok thank you very much for the clarification! Understood what you wrote about the replacement effect.

As far as Geralf's Messenger is concerned, I understand I can summarize the undying part as follows: When Geralf's Messenger comes back to play, he already has the counter. However that event counts a placing a counter on him, which will trigger Animation Module's ability. I can pay for it and create my token.

I have question about putting counters on permanents, and how I am allowed to respond to that.

More precisely, when Geralf's Messenger dies and comes back with a +1/+1 counter, can I respond to that with my Animation Module by paying 1C to create a token?

I read somewhere that when a creature enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it, this actually means that the creature enters the battlefield and then the counters are placed on it. To this I can respond, and this will also trigger e.g. Hardened Scales. Is that correct and similar to the example with the Animation Module?

Had a look at the comprehensive rules, and the closted thing I found was this here :
121.6a. If an object enters the battlefield with counters on it, the effect causing the object to be given counters may specify which player puts those counters on it. If the effect doesn't specify a player, the object's controller puts those counters on it.

But I am still unsure. I will meet my friends soon to play and I am expecting a rules discussion about this.

Could someone please shed some light?

    Hey folks, whats up?

Jeez, what happened to this place? Is altered art dead? I haven´t posted in years...you know getting older and stuff.

Glad to see that some are still posting, but apparently it´s now an art for the few?

This development makes me kinda sad....hope you last Mohicans will keep it up

aaaa okay, that makes sense. I never recalled having a second account here, and having the same avatar for another account didn`t seem to make much sense either, which is why I suspected a bug or something like that. I recalled the site had some severe troubles when changing the design. Ok, now it`s clear Smile

Ok, with the other email address it worked all right. My username was changed to LegacymtgsalvationUser40289 though, but I was asked to change it and I could use my old name. Great, issue solved Smile Thanks and have a nice day

Nice. I like that the artist gets credit in the black area, which is not so likely to get altered in an extension. Was never really fond of it when the original artist name was covered with paint

For me personally, it's really not a given the contests should or even will make a comeback.

As of now, only 3 people responded to Bulls announcement (thanks for that! :)), two of which are seasoned contest and forum veterans. That sort of reflects the interest in the contests quite well.

We had times the contest saw a lot of attention and many users enjoyed taking part just for the fun and also for seeing how their stuff compared to others. While some users were remarkable exceptions, this kind of intrinsic motivation has generally declined.

I also disagree with Bull that the contests need a more attractive prize system. A trophy is an attractive prize and that alone made some users try to bend the polls behind the scenes in their favor.

Also, if extrinsic motivation is the only thing that keeps this alive, then forget it.

All things in life have their place and time, and maybe the time of contests is simply over.

Yeah, thanks to everyone for taking part in the contests! Smile I think we had a good run for a long time and I enjoyed that a lot. Maybe I find some time to summarize a few things.

The participation dropped significantly during the last few months, though, so the the question remains if there is enough interest in the contests to have a restart.

It's a good time for some fresh ideas as well I guess

    The covering cover
Cause some iterations are fun Kekeke

Poll Rules - Please read before voting
    • When voting, please assess how each entry fulfilled the challenge and take into account the quality of work submitted
    • Multi-vote: You can vote for more than one entry and this way give credit to more than one artist
    • You are not allowed to vote for yourself. If you vote for yourself, your vote is invalid and will be substracted from the final poll result. Votes are public and can be seen by everyone else.

    • Feel free to comment on your vote. People will appreciate it
    • Entries are displayed in the order they were submitted: first entries first, last entries last
    • The participant with the most votes will win. In case of a draw, the winner will be determined by rolling the dice
    • This poll will close on 15th August.

    Challenge in July was:
Take any card you want and alter it making a custom art based on a CD cover. The band could be any music style you want, it doesn't matters. You may use the art of the cover partially or fully, it's up to you. Please, be sure to provide a link to the source of your inspiration and also try to provide us with the name of the original artist if possible (let's give them the credit they deserve!)

    Your reward:
The contest winner determined by poll will be rewarded with a digital trophy above his avatar and announced on mtgsalvation home.

Question: Trancebam, where is the entry you promised? Smile Our mouths were already watering, but no dish was served... Maybe I should call you NoBam from now on :p
Seriously, pity you didn't make it.

From both entries that were submitted, ZS's is obviously more mature in many ways. I really like how the background merges with the spell being cast, also the overall concept is very convincing.

I think what Nemean did better though is the way the foreshortened first obscures a part of the wizards body. Overall a very nice idea! I am wondering, what kind of paint did you use?

Also thanks to Bull for taking care of the poll, I am travelling and it is a pain in the xxx to write this on a tablet
