I have been so preoccupied with the release of the new game that I have completely forgot about MTG. I haven't even logged on here since it was announced by retro during SDCC. I was trying to think of more ways to promote it and was like "oh yea, MTGS"... Good to see its already being talked about here.

    Edit for Card Slinger J:

"I heard that Organized Play won't be established for the new relaunch until next year is this true by any chance?"

This is true so far as any of us know. This info was let out by Aik, who is playing a major role in the new game.

So far, these cards have been confirmed. Some are slight variations...
    Time Is A Warrior's Tool
    Heroes Lucky Break
    Android 18's Stare Down
    Saiyan Style Mastery (Buu Saga)
    Goku's Lucky Break

-TiaWT is a direct reprint, same picture and all IIRC.

-Hero's Lucky Break is now called Heroic Plan and it is an ultra rare. It's more of a 'Trunks Reconstruction' than a HLB, but they are very similar. Trunks Reconstruction is just a better HLB from GT and Heroic Plan is a direct reprint of it.

-Android 18's Stare Down is now just called 'Stare Down'. One of the new flavor rules for the upcoming game is that named cards can only be used by its matching personality.

-Saiyan Style Mastery from Buu Saga is being directly reprinted as 'Saiyan Empowered Mastety'.

-Goku's Lucky Break is being reprinted as 'Dragon Radar'. Although, there were several DB searchers that were analogous to GLB the first time around, and one was actually called 'Dragon Radar'.

If you would like to see the spoiled cards for yourself, here ya go:

That is most of (if not all) the cards we've seen so far.

Crop rotation is something I've been thinking a lot about, I just don't think I'm ready to give intuition the axe. I know there will be some tier 1 decks there, mostly by shop owners and some of their staff who can gain access to their legacy staples. I'll take some crop rotations with me to the event and make the final decision after lurking around the tables.

I'm going to be playing I'm a legacy event on the 3rd. It will be relatively small, probably about 20-30 people if this legacy GPT is anything like our last. I expect dredge and other cheap combo to be plentiful since there is very little legacy scene in my state. I know that this list is not optimal for that kind of meta and already have some changes in mind. I figured I'd post it anyway and see what you guys would suggest.

Punting the Omnitell MU (thus increasing the win % vs other MUs) would be a decent call if the deck weren't so popular. It's relatively cheap and very powerful, which means it will more than likely show up by the metric F***-ton.

Dredge (most of the time) goes off faster than storm, which is the reason I run 2 crypt. It's also just as good vs Oops as another sphere would be if not better. Grip is not negotiable, it is a must have in this deck vs RiP, moon and BtB. Totem is not only good vs DRS, it auto-wins vs D&T and it neuters maverick-like decks. I'm not saying that I hate my SB, neither am I saying that its perfect, and I appreciate your feedback, but I just don't think (as of right now) that those are worth cutting.

Edit: I should probably clarify my reasoning for using 2 crypt. I play dredge, and its fast... Really fast. I understand how Oops plays and have heard experienced Oops players attribute a roughly 50% chance of going off T1 and an exponential increase of going off in later turns. In light of this, tutoring looses some relevance. Not that its irrelevant, its just less reliable of a strategy considering our tutor costs 3, not to mention its double U in a (minimum) 3 color deck. Upping the crypt count equates to upping the chances of seeing one in a very limited amount of time. Don't get me wrong, storm is a real threat, one that needs to be addressed since it is pretty popular. And I have dedicated 6 SB slots to it (chalice and SoR), and normally board in 2 more (3sphere). Making it a total of 8, which isn't too shabby IMO.

It depends... The textbox in 3sphere is strictly better than the textbox in SoR. But SoR costs 1 less, which is super relevant in the matchs we use it for. SoR is better against storm and Oops cause it comes T1 pretty often, turn 2 with a mediocre hand and time is essential vs those decks. 3sphere is our only game VS Omnitell. I run a 2/2 split + 4 chalice. Disclaimer: I'm still weighing my options about my sideboard make up. Here it is for reference.

    4x Chalice of the Void
    2x Sphere of Resistance
    2x Trinisphere
    2x Cursed Totem
    2x Tormod's Crypt
    3x Krosan Grip

Ok so I built lands I have everything but the Tabernacle. I have tested it against my own decks in my SIG. I must be a nimrod or something because I cant win at all with it. I don't know what to fetch for, when to fetch for it or aside from vomiting my hand and getting a lucky crucible draw with some wastelands, I cant win. Little help anyone?

We pretty much get rolled G1 vs most combo decks unless we rip a nuts hand. G2&3 we board in the hate. Dredge actually isn't that bad of a MD matchup. Dredge's MD can't deal with a chasm, and most of their sideboards can't either. Their MD also can't deal with a bridge, although most builds can after sideboard. I've crushed dredge with a Tabernacle because they couldn't find their Zealot.

This deck really shines vs 'fair' decks. Like Stoneblade, Shardless BUG, Junk, Jund, Goblins, ect... Even though a lot of them have incorporated Deathrite Shaman, I would still say that the modern lands list is heavily favored.

Against oops surgical extraction might be better than extirpate. If oops goes off before you get a turn it doesn't matter. If your on the play and they hit a chancellor, you can't cast extirpate unless you also have a mox, whereas extraction and crypt can be played with one land under an annex effect. Also, crypt works at instant speed.

Edit: Of course an argument could be made for extirpate over extraction since they usually board pact of negation. Lists I've seen usually have 4 chancellor and 3 pacts, which is why I mentioned extraction over extirpate... The both have their merits I suppose.

Belcher would be a lot worse MU because they actually have a land to get past a chalice on 0 and their guides are on color. Whereas Oops has neither of those going for them.

I could see that SB being ok if you opt for an extraction effect.

    People still play doomsday? O.o

Also, I haven't got to play against Oops all spells, but I'd think our G2/3 would be a fairly decent MU... Don't they just fold to a chalice on 0 and/or crypt? And a sphere would would slow them down to a crawl just hoping to topdeck guides.

I like extraction effects and I think they are very underrated. But ultimately I think crypt is better. Being tutorable is extremely relevant. It's also recurable with ruins. The same thing can be said about bog (tutorable and recurable with loam), but crypt sacks itself making recursion more viable, and it can be used at instant speed.

I count 63 in that list! That can't be good.

While I object to the rule change in principle, I'm very excited to see how it plays out for this deck (and for combo elves).

That was a typo on his part I believe. He wrote:

    Enchantments: 7
    4x Exploration
    1x Manabond

I don't like the rule flavor-wise, but if I get a 20/20 out of the deal, I can dig it.

I didn't know combo elves was rocking it too... Interesting, I'll have to check the thread.

Why not just side grips for stoneblade then? Just grip the batterskull and be done with it. Smile

Nothing is really necessary to SB in against stoneblade (at least UW... BW has lingering souls which is slightly bothersome), they usually don't have enough bodies to fight off multiple mazes and punishing fires. But my initial thought was bog is useless, so, can I replace it? Totem seemed like the best card to bring in as an annoyance.

BTW, not a fan of the 61 plan... That's my gripe about your list. How often do you see a Manabond or Exploration?

Also, this is what I'm rocking at the moment. Not sure if its changed much since my last post, but I did add a totem to the SB Smile .

Totem against stoneblade does nothing but stop SFM's ability to put things into play.

I don't personally use totem... Although I'm considering it now that I've mocked a SB with it since I have 1-2 flex slots in my SB. My reasoning behind my theoretical SB choice is that that most stoneblade decks run 3 equipment, that means SFM can be used multiple times, this also applies to bouncing batterskull. One of our main plans is mana denial, and a totem against Stoneblade is effectively mana denial. Either way... I think we can both agree that a totem is better than a bog against stoneblade.

Edit: Also, I would agree with Froze Over about the grips VS D&T. Not sure why I missed that.

Let me first mention that I was never a fanboy for the bob plan. Very seldom did I think he was going to be worth cutting slots, so excuse me if neglect him. You may want to solicit someone else on the usefulness of bob. Also, bridge is a awkward move after rotation (Marit Lage).

Here is something along the lines of what I would do with said decklist.

    Miricles: +2 Grip, +4 bob / -1 bog, -2 Intuition, -1 crucible, -1 fire, -1 ring

    Stoneblade: +1 Totem / -1 bog

    Death & Taxes : +1 Totem / -1 bog

    Deathblade: +1 Totem / -1 bog

    Shardless: nothing really

    Nicfit: +1 totem (maybe bridge)/ -1/2 Intuition

    Rug: +4 chalice / -1 Karakas, -1 ob-stone, -2 Intuition
