Mad props to Wizards for scheduling the last US GP during the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving.

Because, people really need to be traveling away from their families during the holidays to go play a GP...

Anyone know what happened to those tokens? They said you couldn't buy them on the website, then advertised them heavily at SCGRich this past weekend. Now they're nowhere to be found.

Just curious if anyone knew the story...

How do I tell if the store I play at is an advanced or core store?

Could barely get past the obnoxiousness that was Gerald Fabiano. That man puts the douche in douchebag.

They broke copyright law they should be punished for it.

I guess it's pure coincidence that WOTC was perfectly fine with them breaking said copyright. Perfectly fine with it until two weeks before they launched their own version....

Those apps had been on the market anywhere from 18-24months and WOTC hadn't a single care about them.

Then they decide to launch an app, and all of them receive complaints.

I don't think people should break the law, but you're an ignorant fool if you think this was about copyrights.

This thing sucks. It's significantly worse than almost all the other MTG apps. Those were made by people who knew what the players wanted/needed. They made sure the app worked properly and that it was as accessible as possible.

This release reeks of a corporate move to take advantage of the iOS and Android marketplaces.

It's a real shame that WOTC ran out the other apps, just to push this jank of a release.

Master of the Wild Hunt was never format warping, and is I think better, easier to keep alive, and easier to cast.

The cards have nothing in common, play-wise.

Huntmaster is a DFC mythic. We're at ten mythics, but Huntmaster will not count against that ten since he can only be found in the DFC slot.

We're still getting a white mythic.

Even in a complete vacuum you're talking 4 power for 4 mana spread across two bodies AND two life gained. It would be playable even if it didn't have such a powerful back face, and unlike many of the other werewolves, you're not really ever going to be that upset when this guy flips back to normal

    Exactly.

This is the best 4cc card in (STD) a vacuum, period.

4 mana, for two 2/2 bodies, and 2 life gained.

There are two things that rule standard 1) ETB effects and 2)extra bodies. Geist, Doomed Traveler, Titans, Snapcaster, and Moorlaund Haunt at all prime examples.

Then there's Delver, which clearly dominates standard right now. A creature that costs minimal and gives you 'extra bang for your buck.'

    Huntmaster is ALL OF THESE.

He's an ETB, he brings extra bodies, and he flips relatively easily for a even bigger BANG.

    Sure, werewolves aren't a deck.

    This guy doesn't need them.

    He is the RG Baneslayer.

Mikaeus will never see play in Standard.

We all know they're going to release another set of standalone Commander series.

High odds that a new, non-standard Werewolf general shows up there.

Keep telling yourself that and it will eventually come true. You're right, this card will soon take over standard.

The two best decks in standard will quickly become WW(white weenie) and RG aggro. It might even become Jund if there's a good enough way to splash black.

That being said, Huntmaster will be a x4 staple in RG aggro. He's the RG baneslayer. Life gain, token maker, and damager doer.

He's about 100x better than Bladesplicer in every way possible. Best thing BS does is create a 3/3 with first strike. If BS was as solid as you think she is, she'd see play in WW as an aggressive 3drop. Truth is, she's only in pod because you simply never want her, just the 3/3.

Control could become the third best deck in standard IF they get a 1cc or 2cc cancel spell. Otherwise, these two aggro beats decks WILL dominate Standard and Huntmaster will be one of the main reasons.

This werewolf will absolutely see play outside of tribals. He does something useful ETB, and he has immediate value when you pass your turn, so you aren't really doing nothing since you get 2x Shock for doing so. He has ridiculous synergy with Moonmist and Snapcaster Mage for force-flipping him (Moonmist now reads Fog + Shock + Shock, and then you could get the wolf +2 life on the next upkeep when played with another spell. Snapcaster is any spell from your GY + 2 life + a 2/2 + a 2/1 body. They both seem pretty good for 2 CMC...)

He is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" guys like good old Wurmcoil Engine, although to a lesser extent for the cheaper cost.

This guy might make RUG control competitive, or even a monster.

    Perfectly said
