What are peoples opinions of a 3/1 split with Wrench Mind/Tasigur's Cruelty? They do pretty much the same thing (discard 2), but the last one, being a single, would have a greater chance of being drawn later in the game when we have a graveyard to exile. And since it doesn't target it's great vs leyline.
Ive tried a 3-2 split and love it. it works amazing.
I did reconsider one thing, that I really want to play a Desert in the main, because turtling behind an Ensnaring Bridge is what this deck does, and Desert (while it kills after the damage has been done) is a good way to keep the small things from swinging under bridge. While I wont disown the idea of Oblivion Stone, if you're at the point where you're going to put counters on a few permanents or just blow it you're better off on the Damnation plan, its really just more cost efficient at that point.
As far as changes to my deck other than the 1 Desert, Raven's crime could possibly go +1. The really bad match ups are going to be Burn and Affinity, other than that we rip the Midrange, Combo and Control decks in half, they arent fast enough. So to hedge the matches against burn (in my list which inclueds Green) there is a few cards to help and those are Feed the Clan and Golgari Brownscale. I suppose we could run a sweeper like Drown in Sorrow but it almost seems too slow, not that the other options are much faster. Another option that I'm not as keen on is Kitchen Finks, I have to cast them I don't actually have to cast the Golgari Brownscale I can pitch it to a Smallpox or Liliana of the Veil.
On the other hand to hedge our two particularily bad match ups Affinity and Burn A splash for white instead of green makes those matches in our favor after board.
For Affinity we get Stony Silence and Kataki, War's Wage
For Burn we get Kor Firewalker, and Leyline of Sanctity
And we also get the artifact and enchantment hate that you get out of green, there are a few other options for white SB that have been brought up in conversations that I have had with my group, White gets cards such as Necrotic Sliver, Obzedat, Ghost Council, Utter End and Flagstones of Trokair (for Smallpox), they aren't all the best options but all have valid points.
But I shied away from playing white instead of green because I lost Abrupt Decay and Life from the Loam, after playing with those two cards they feel necessary to play this deck effectively. Simply Life from the Loam is amazing in this deck.
Ill Provide my decklist for reference and I'll gladly answer any questions you have.
The Sideboard was not set in stone and not one time in the 11 Rounds did i side in Tasigur, the Golden Fang, I feel as if i could've used the spot for something more effective for the Turtle game plan, Such as Engineered Explosives.
P.S. I would also play a single forest in the main, because Blood Moon shuts down a crucial part of the deck, and having a forest lets us out of that Blood Moon.
P.S.S. This is a grindy control deck with (what can be) a very fast finisher in the mid-late game, please do not try and make this into a Phyrexian Oblitorator deck.
after playing 11 rounds witht his deck yester day and going a total of 7-4 ive decided that this deck doesnt need creatures to win. racks are plenty. especially if you have loam
You also get the ~albeit slower~ Lavaborn Muse, I'm Having a very strong Consideration to play this card in red. It's a late game finisher, and comes down about the same time we want The Rack effects to come down.
i feel like this deck can benefit the most from lotus cobra, its not doing crazy broken things but its giving the extra mana this deck wants early in order to slam down a ton of mill effects
I mean i know some people higher up have been dismissing this card, but if you really want to deal with eidelon and not take damage from the spell, MURDEROUS CUT is an option...just throwing that out there.
Creature- Bird Monk

As far as the Affinity match goes we can get away with Engineered Explosives, Ratchet Bomb, Darkblast, Golgari Charm and a very sketchy Creeping Corrosion.
