    Thanks for your reply!

I can definitely see where you're coming from. As just a tiny nudge, think of it as just opening another door to the site for those people like myself (1.3 million and growing) who decided it was worth it to invest in an app that gives them easy access to several forum sites... Cool and definitely not as a service we want to push on everybody or overtly advertise. You could even make it policy that tapatalk users for the site please remove the 'posted from tapatalk' signitures here. =)
Showing up in their 'browse' section will get you all a few more hits... Halo
Okay, I'll shut up, I'm just thrilled at the idea of ease of use for salvation on my phone! A mobile version sounds outstanding, don't get me wrong - but I'm somebody who's paid for and enjoys Tapatalk.

Tapatalk is an outstanding mobile app for viewing forum sites - signup for forum owners is free, and it supposed a wide variety of forum types, which I believe include the type used here. It would be outstanding to be able to post with ease from my Android phone! (it's also for iPhone/Blackberry)

This is not an ad for Tapatalk. I just think this would really enable more people to utilize and enjoy the forums here. Thanks for your time, admins!

I won't link the tapatalk site because I'm really not trying to advertise for them or anything and don't want a ban or suspension over this; I have the utmost faith in your googling skills!

  • posted a message on Tokens to the graveyard + Fresh Meat
My question is two-fold; one of timing, and one of rules.

    Hypothetical situation:

It is my opponent's 2nd main phase. In play I have Nest Invader, and 4 Eldrazi Spawn tokens, courtesy of Awakening Zone, and an untapped Forest. My opponent casts Pyroclasm (or Day of Judgment, either work for this example).

I sacrifice three of the tokens for mana in response, and tap my Forest, with the intent of casting Fresh Meat after the wrath effect resolves. Do I simply announce I'm casting it after the spell resolves, or do I never get priority to cast my instant? Does my opponent get a chance to say his turn is over before I can cast it after the wrath goes off, i.e. going to his end phase and thus making my mana pool empty? Does my mana pool even empty between my opponent's main and end phase? Also, will I get 5 3/3 Golem tokens, or just 1? I believe it to be 5 because its my understanding that token creatures will hit the graveyard and THEN go poof, but I want to make sure I'm right before I take my brew to FNM.

    Thanks for your help!

    Situation:
Glissa, the Traitor attacks. Opponent blocks with 4 3/3 Beast tokens.

Attacking player announces he will do 1 damage to 3 of the Beasts during the first strike step, to kill 3 of them, leaving the 4th remaining alone to kill Glissa.

I was under the impression that regardless of Deathtouch, one had to assign lethal damage to a creature before dealing damage to another creature. Granted, Deathtouch makes 1 damage lethal, but the creature's toughness is 3.

    What is correct? Thanks.

good, what i thought, thx... combo still works tho right?

  • posted a message on Mindcrank + active Bloodchief Ascension
    Hypothetical:

I have in play Bloodchief Ascension with 3 counters, and Mindcrank. Opponent attempts to Divine Offering Mindcrank. Do they die from the infinite triggers when Divine Offering hits the graveyard, or does Mindcrank hit the graveyard before the infinite death occurs?
(Card hits graveyard = Bloodchief triggers, causing loss of life for opponent, triggering Mindcrank, milling them, thus triggering Bloodchief again...)

@Mr. Fu: Whoops. Forgot that clause of Geosurge. Guess even that idea is off the table. Useless Red card is useless. >_<

I dunno, an early Praetor or Myr Battlesphere seems good to me =)

I'm more interested in Karn being IN Green than against it. Karn's existence is the only possible usage for Geosurge that I can see.

Turn 1: Chancellor of the Tangle + a land, Lotus Cobra
Turn 2: Fetchland into Geosurge into Karn

    >_>
    >_>
    >_>

Also, Blind Zealot is generally better than Necrite. It has intimidate and hits for two before the sacrifice. Necrite does have anti-regen, though.

Afraid this doesn't work, as Karn is not an artifact or creature.

    Also, I just re-read something I posted:

I can't wait to Life's Finale in EDH, and then Living Death

What I meant rather than 'Living Death' is 'ultimate Lilliana' so, you know, its a good thing for me and not my opponent. Rolleyes

So much trolling, reverse trolling, and fallout in this thread.

I'm annoyed the entire spoiler came out - the forums are so much more amusing when we're all pining for scraps. Now the entire side of beef has been thrown into the junkyard and all of us dogs are tearin' it up.

    Anyways...

My mono-red cannot wait to Dismember some Kor Firewalkers.
I can't wait to Life's Finale in EDH and then Living Death.
I can't wait to Beast Within a Karn Liberated with 14 loyalty.
I can't wiat to Mental Misstep my opponent's Mental Misstep when they cast it on my Aether Vial.
I can't wait to Master's Call twice, then alpha strike after casting Triumph of the Hordes.
I can't wait to draft white/red poison metalcraft.
I can't wait to Mindslaver someone who has an activated ability w/ Phyrexian mana.
I am shocked that I'm happy to see a functional reprint of Necrite.
I can't wait to try mono-black control and fail with it spectacularly.
I can't wait to make a killing trading for the smart money cards at the pre-release.

Come on, folks. What's not to be excited about with this set?

  • posted a message on Does anyone think that the new Phyrexian Mana is a bad Idea?
It is not a bad idea - it is a great idea. It would just be terrifying to implement.

Now that we've seen the spoiler, they did a great job making it without making it broken. Yes, Misstep is very good, new Extirpate is new Extirpate, and that's fine - new clone is awesome, tezz's gambit is awesome... but not broken. We're good.

My favorite thing about Phyrexian mana - Mindslaver is now 1st pickable 3rd pack in Limited. "well, 'slave you, make you kill yourself activating hex parasite"

For the few posters who said they were sad for Wizards; suck it up. Frankly, there's no way this is going to hurt them beyond forcing them to change their marketing agendas. I think publicly (i.e. on the mothership site) they won't even address it, and you'll just see crotchety tweets from MaRo and other WotC notables about it. It's definitely not going to hurt sales; in fact, I bet this spoiler going out doubles or triples pre-orders. The reason is that this set isn't Homelands - this set is incredibly strong.

The *only* complaint I have about the set (and its not much of a complaint); there seem to be more money uncommons than money mythics!

Cards like this have so much potential. To those unimpressed; fine.

As mind-bending as a Clone/Sculpting Steel combo card is on its own, the Phyrexian Mana thing is what makes this insane. Giving every color access to such a powerful utility is fascinating.

Copying any creature is classic stuff to us, but this is copying it and make it Go For The Throat proof - very relevant in a set that looks like it has a heavy black presence to bring to Standard.
For a mere 3 mana and some life, you get to copy that Lotus Cobra deck's crazy t3 or t4 drop, i.e. Precursor Golem, Baneslayer, Titan...
Valakut gets a cheap 'destroy target Thrun'... mono-colored strategies all have a sideboard card against protection creatures (playing mono-white? opponent has phyrexian crusaders? np lol)...
3 + 2 life = destroy target General - blue EDH decks rejoice.

Playing the Caw-Blade mirror? Copy your opponent's Squadron Hawk when you haven't found yours, go fetch yourself all 4 of your copies!

Were you not around when they did the Planeswalker's Guide to Zendikar? The Planeswalker's Guide to Alara was in print form, not digital, but it had more or less the same quality of content that we have here. It didn't sell well enough to continue in that form, but I think I prefer the digital version, as it is A) free, and B) easily accessible via the internet rather than having to get out my copy of the book whenever I want to reference it.

No, I wasn't around for it. I went on hiatus for a few years and came back when Scars was released. It's a great trend!

I stand by what I say, though - the flavor of this set is outstanding. As a long time player, this new side of Phyrexia being fleshed out (thought this was a funnier turn of phrase than 'compleated') is a real treat. I will go back and find/read the Zendikar articles, thanks for that, although I will venture a guess I won't enjoy them as much. Rolleyes

More importantly than this card's name... This is the first time I've seen anything like this from the mothership. These are OUTSTANDING flavor articles, and if they did it for every set, they'd hype me up for every single one of them. It's as if we were tossed Scars and Beseiged merely to be kept busy for this monumentally flavorful set. Way to go, Magic Creative Team!
