    Yes, because artifacts are heavy.

    Why must the trees and flowers point and laugh at me?

    Thus far I've seen a number of serious pros crap all over this card, and I can't blame them. I would need to be very hard-pressed just to play this card in a draft, let alone any constructed format. For 4 mana, there's just way too many better things to do than Diabolic Tutor which reveals my card to my opponent. The only time you'll get to draw 3 is when you're playing against a bad player.

    dude...wizards has f'd up since they found out mythics sell sets. card quality is junk and theres no point in buying packs since outside the chase cards, theyere worth next to nothing. Anyways dude, i would keep the faction packs, theyre a novelty item.

    Uhh... okay, 'bruh'.

    I felt that the pre-release was poorly executed all over, simply because

    1. Wizards kinda gave very loose guidelines to their stores, and

    2. Store owners ran the tourneys stupidly.

    The best model for a pre-release is the tried and true one; lots of 8-man swiss pods, with upto 10 packs as prize support, and then drafts on the side with typical booster packs. The introduction of these 'faction packs' caused severe cognitive dissonance for many places, leading to dumb ideas like draft with faction packs and 6 round swiss tourneys for a booster box of faction packs (that took roughly 8 hours).
    Many stores I know of haven't received 'normal' MBS packs yet, making the right kinds of drafts impossible.

    Im honestly convinced that nobody on his forum actually plays magic.
    I've basically been repeating myself, but I really don't see how hardley anyone mentions glissa. This is seriously the 10th "best rarezzzzz thread" where she eiher gets mentioned once or never. Some moron even made a pole and didn't list her. Wow. Do any of you people realize green has the ability to splash any color easier than any other color in any format? How is a 3/3 for three that in all honestly can only be taken off the board by spot removal not be an amazing card?

    It's simply because there are way better cards. Experience and years of tourney grinding taught us this. She's definitely a Mythic, but not Top 10 material, has no home in any existing competitive deck, and far too clunky to build around.

    I enjoy the card and will play it in EDH or other casual decks, but you're just way off here, and far too nasty about it. It makes other posters question your 1. magic-savvy (ah, he's not good at it) and 2. integrity (either he's a kid and doesn't know better or he's trolling us). I appreciate your stance; please phrase it better next time!

    Every single one of these Duel Deck submissions needs to have Force of Will in it. I don't care if there's no other blue cards, just put it in the deck anyway. You want flavor justification? Phyrexia is trying to force their will on Mirrodin, Mirrans are surviving by the sheer force of their will. Just put the card in already.

    I'm tired of needing to pay 80 tix to get one Grin

    They'd probably make the cards non-tourney legal, like intro cards or something.

    the one in raleigh is doing faction booster and then 2 som. dunno why

    Depending on which one in Raleigh you mean, this is not necessarily true.

    The hot serious money cards for Day 1 of the set being out are Phyrexian, but Mirran has some hot sleeper things.

    Position is extremely close in terms of which faction to play at pre-release. The decks will more or less build themselves.

    Short synapsis: You'll be playing R/x as a Mirran and no red as a Phyrexian.
    You will need to pull very good removal (i.e. get lucky) as Phyrexian.
    Mirrans will have trouble knowing what removal to play.

    Seems fine to me, for what it is. It would be disturbingly bad if it were rare.
    Will rock your opponents faces if you play him in sealed. Draft, he's borderline (think ogre geargrabber, the SOM serpent) but again if he hits the table he can turn the tide. Not a high pick to be sure, but pickable. There are better commons in white MBS (Lox Partisan, Skyhunter, Master's Call, etc) of course, but I mean... if you're getting beat by size, who ya gunna call?

    This is in the pre-con, right?

    The art looks like it'd be outstanding in foil. I'm very excited about this card!
    For current standard, it's in a good spot to be a removal-sponge - 1 mana off from your Titan of choice, it can come out and take a bullet for your Inferno or Frost or what have you. If it doesn't bite it, you can resolve your Titan next turn, and possibly play your Destructive Force off the top of your library same turn.

    Later in the game, that's gravy, but early on you sometimes want lands.

    That's why you wouldn't cast it until your hand was nearly empty.

    I just read the thread over and will address things completely at random to save time.

    ~It's not meant to be an artifact block. It's clearly the 'omfg, Phyrexia is back' block.

    ~The set gives everything to Standard. Get used to it. Only got 9 months before your 1 broken Worldwake card, your Titans, and fetchlands all rotate out. You've been playing this format for quite some time - what you're experiencing is burn out on Standard. Draft the new set for a while, play some EDH, become a freemason. Do something else if you're so jaded.
    Go ahead and have yourself a baby, then come back to the game and see how it looks.

    ~There's nothing wrong with the design. There's everything wrong with your expectations. What did you expect a set themed off of a Phyrexian invasion of Mirrodin to look like, anyways? If your answer is 'I don't know, but not this crap' or something equally as clever, pause and think and then try to do better.

    If you hate the set, fine. If you think the developers were lazy because they slapped infect on half a dozen cards without ever claiming they were shooting for originality, fine. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.

    I will maintain my own opinion that some people can't go with the flow, are too uptight, whine a lot, fear change, and expect a buck fifty in change back from a dollar. I will then shrug and go play M:TG and enjoy myself.

    I like this set. I'll hate it only in specific instances where I'm getting my ass handed to me in a draft.

    Quote from AznChaimaera
    Never been fan of the living weapon mechanic, but oh well, might be cool for limited I guess.

    The Wurm, now THAT's another story. Honestly, I can see it replacing Grave Titan in a lot of the Standard decks. Or better yet, they can be used together. Nice to have a marsh casualties on legs. Only problem is .......... it's mythic. So instead of going for about 10-15$ each. They might hit around 20$. Oh well, can't complain now can we?

    Are there any other "money" rares in this set??o.O

    If you don't see this, you're fooling yourselves...

    Thrun = biggest money
    BSC = big money
    Tezz = big money
    Sword of Feast and Famine = biggish money
    Inkmoth = big money for a non-mythic
    Green/Black Zeniths = see Inkmoth
    Middling/upper - Revoker, Consecrated Sphinx (held up by Casual formats), LOLwurm, Glissa
    High honorable mention: FOIL Steel Sabotage, FOIL Go For The Throat
    ...The rest.

    Best part about there being players who hate on new sets/new cards - they trade them to you at the pre-release for what ends up being a bargain later every time. Love it; whine more, everybody. I'll give you 3-4 bucks in value for your LOLwurms. When it pushes 8-10 later post rotation, I'll get double back. Works for me!

    I like it, and look forward to playing it. Also looking forward to laughing at all the people who are crapping on it when they're scrambling to pick up whatever cards out of it are used in a winning deck so they can copy it and take it to FNM.

    This set shows me who all the spoiled kids are.
