Ok typically I do not post on the forums but this card just outright gives me nightmares literally.
Silver knight while I did not play at the time I heard a few people talking about it on the forum. That card is definitely more balanced as a creature color hoser. What is even more balanced is cards like vedalken outlander or goblin outlander from conflux.
Ken Nagle hear our pleas although its my understanding the printing has already been in process for World Wake so I am sure its too late and the damage has been done.
Red, RDW, Goblins in legacy the list goes on is probably the funnest decks to play across all facets of constructed magic play. They offer new players a chance to play something relatively easy to build while still staying competitive at the same time.
With all the above said I can say this card is over powered. Dragon's claw on a vedalken outlander for seemingly two white is way overpowered. Did anyone watch the finals of the SCG St Louis in game 2. Well thats what Dragon's claw does it rapes red. Now granted that match was a red on red or barely boros vs monored match making dragon's claw ever better, but still having a 2/2 unkillable body on something like that we can all agree is too powerful. At least dragon's claw can be demolished or shattered.
Even if the guy were a 1/1 it would still be too powerful or an 0/1 b/c lets face it for the most part he is going to block anyhow.
I am sure the guys in R and D know more about card design than I. Maybe there is a ton of artifact direct damage that is just out of this world lightning bolt good coming our way but I highly doubt this and it is just wishful thinking.
as mentioned before the original developer of teh deck said they would run somethign over pithing needle i was looking for insight on this as well opinions and what not
i am thinking thornling sounds like a strong option against jund...i know the deck is favor against jund but with jund so rampid why not more hate in the board?
no i mean what would you side in and take out like e.g. just looking for insight thanks to all who have replied so far. I am especially curious to how you guys would sideboard this board against jund. I heard eldrazi green is the best deck to play against jund so i am wanting to taylor my sideboard choices against jund as well.
I am curious to sideboarding plans for the above deck on insight I read an article by todd anderson and he mentioned how he would ditch pithing needle for say fog or something else.
looking for insight on how people would board with this deck against say jund, boro, red deck wins, 5 color cascade control, mirror match etc or any other tier 1 deck that comes to mind
its cool to have old cards ill just say that so its cool that you have a playset of these....i like the older cards that didnt see reprint in revised but were printed from alpha through unlimited word of command is in there and its a good fun card at best imo. well its better than natural selection from the cards im talking of
The card is far too situational and cards that are very situational for competitive magic there are typically better choices for you 75
I plan on running shuhei's list card for card with the exception of agony warp i plan on running lightning bolts to get rid of stags from his list can some of the guys on the forum help me withe sideboard plans
I hear that you can write down your sideboard plans and look at them inbetween games in a match.
You add all the mana symbols together (Y). Then divide each colored mana symbol with the sum of them (X/Y). Then multiply the result with the lands you intend to get in the deck.
Lets say we intend to include 25 lands in the deck. We have 30 green symbols and 25 white symbols ( Hybrid mana is considered 1/2 mana symbol but you can round it up for calculating reasons). 25+30=55
So we need (30/55)x25=13.6=14 forest and (25/55)x25=11 Plains.
If we have Dual lands , consisting of the desired colors , lets say Brushland then we remove these from the number of lands we are going to use. If we put 4 Brushlands in 25 land count, then the calculation changes. (30/55)x21=11 Forest and 10 Plains and 4 Brushland. This is a quick way to built the landbase for your draft deck
The problem becomes more difficult in 3 colored decks. Sure u follow the same procedure. Trilands are considered out the land count here. If u play jund and will use 25 lands , with 4 of them being Savage Lands, then again we use 21 lands for our calculations. Dual lands in this case makes the problem more complex. You can use another method here. U use the same analogy with the mana symbols as with the Mana producing symbols. If u have 25 Green mana symbols in the casting costs in 60 total mana symbols (25/60=42%), then u should have the same percentage mana PRODUCING symbols, 42% of your Land Symbols should be green.
Of course this is just a rule of thumb. After you have laid roughly your mana pool, u should playtest in order to make the best out of your mana. If u splash Cruel Ultimatum u need at least 2 red mana. The calculation could lead to a false assumption that u need 1 mana. Be a bit careful on this. Also consider abilities that require mana.
Wow man seems good an logical how would you count filter lands?
I have been out of the game a while and deck building has gotten much more confusing I was wondering if there was a mathematical calculation to figuring out a mana base in deck building this would go for draft or regular constructed play.
I remember there being something by counting mana symbols and basing it on ratios but I am unsure.
In Shards/Conflux/Reborn what are the best archtypes to draft
So far what seems pretty strong to me is blue / white aggro splash black for removal or bombs or green / white aggro splash red for some removal or bombs
I am still learning this draft format as I have only been playing for a brief while.
I want to study to become a magic judge and potentially a level 2 or 3 DCI judge.
I was wondering how to go about doing this is there manuals or rules books I can study. Also if I were a level 3 judge could I still compete in events.
I basically want to be super good with the rules to make me a better player.
Yea Little Rock PTQ today was crap. I played the boat brew and went X-1 until round 5 picked up my second loss and ended 5-2. The venue was terrible as was the prize support, but thats come to be expected from bluegrass. 125~ people and you can't pay more than a box outside top 8?
The venue was hot cramped and had next to no parking, but it wasn't the fault of the store as people were constantly running in and out fanning the 97+ degree weather outside back inside the store.
ditto i was there and you definitely summed up my experience to a T it was outright ridiculously hot my sweat was dripping off my forehead onto my cards and there was no room to move around it was outright ridiculous prize payout was ridiculously horrible as well
all i can say is if they have future venues there in the summer time i wont be attending it was so dang hot i couldnt even focus on my match and a few times i thought i was going to pass out my shirt was wringing wet with sweat
i went 3-2 drop and usually i enjoy playing magic and even after my second loss and out of top 8 contention ill continue to battle on for the love of the game and the fun factor oh and rating points, but i was so darn miserable there due to the heat it was ridiculous
hopefully Brennen Moody hears our cries on this and will not book tournaments there again and will book them at a hotel he did regionals in memphis and it was very nice
The IMAGINE! Hobbies & Games venue outright sucked I dont even so much care about the prize but dying of heat exhaustion and not being able to focus 100% on my games in my match due to dying of heat and loss of fluids pretty much sucked.
jund
control
vampires
In my field there are a bunch of land go decks no power
I have everything in the restricted list except mox ruby, mox jet, and imperial seal
new to vintage
someone help me build a deck i was thinking since i had 3 of the moxes for bant colors i could play something bant
i do have the time vault and voltaic key combo i could use too
was tossing around building tezz with 4 enlightened tutor and just going all in for the combo
