Circle is slow and requires you to be heavy white. It can be pretty good against the red decks, however. I'd tend to leave this in the board, more often than not.

Really dont like the redeemer. Sentinels from m15 just seems better.

Had an argument with some friends the other day about mana. He found aggro decks were really hard to draft with all the taplands, so he basically added the 20 duals, 10 fetches and 10 painlands to the cube. i've found it easier to draft aggressive archetypes with the more forgiving mana, and people have been generally good with it. we also removed the signets because of power level reasons. Any opinion on this?

Yisan: Un musicien parmi tant d'Autres- Harmonium. French song about a musician that's past his prime, yet goes on for one last big show before going out in a blaze of glory.

    Daretti: technologic- Daft Punk.

Child of alara: All the colors of the wind, Pocahontas OST.

Cool format, but cursory research on gatherer shows that there are very few good commanders, and some are incredibly dumb. I could run a Merieke esper list with stuff like doomsday, thopter/sword, all the tutors, cheap wraths and flatten people. Grixis storm with brain freeze seems incredibly good, and I see V-clique/geist dominating As well. I think that French fills the competitive EDH niche nicely. Tiny leaders is an interesting idea, to be sure, but i don't think it's for me. I'd rather be battlecruisering it up in plain old multiplayer edh.

Maelstrom wanderer lets you play all the good beaters in the format and gives you haste and a general you just recast forever for infinite value.

I'd honestly take the mythic. We're not playing anything else, and as stupid as it looks, narset+aura might cost us a game. Plus, it's a 4$ Card.

  • posted a message on So, what is the best archetype for KTK Draft?
I think abzan has the best cards. However, lots of people will be fighting you for them, so there's that. Playing all five colors is a fun and effctive strat. You pick up dual lands/trilands, removal and gold cards in that order of priority and then use the common walls to stall (parapet, monastery flock). Morph is your fairy godmother when you don't have all of your fixing. Makes it so you develop your board instead of waiting on banners or doing nothing. Plus, you can cram your deck full of 5-6 drops at no cost to your curve.

  • posted a message on At what point do you decide to go 5C in KTK?
If you get two tri lands early, you can go all-in. By pick 4-5, you should have 2 tri lands, a good removal spell, a bomb and anothet land. My draft yesterday went like this:

    P1P1- nomad's outpost

    P1P2- abzan charm

    P1P3- frontier bivouac

    P1P4- Duneblast

    P1P4- ur dual

    P1P5 - UB dual

And so forth. I ended up with the following deck. Note how amazing the mana was.

Ten removal spells, some card advantage and a bevy of morphs is all you need. Duneblast helps, too. [[archer's parapet]] is necessary to the archetype as well. The card gains you 6-8 life on average off their two drop bear and when you get to lategame you nug them for 1 every turn for essentially free. 8 duals is a good number, and you want good color coverage so trilands are a premium. The deck is insane when it comess together. This was a clean 3-0 sweep and the games were not close.

  • posted a message on What are your decks, and what are their main wincons?
    Commander: child of alara.
    Main theme: goodstuff/control/theft effects
Main wincons: maze's end, [[villainous wealth]], infinite mana+[[oona, queen of the fae]]. Plans , B and C in that order. I run scapeshift and life from the loam to help.

    Commander: yisan, the wanderer bard
Theme: toolbox, elves, swarm, devotion, big mana.
Main win conditions: plan A is to assemble a board and craterhoof behemoth them out. Plan B is going over the top with a genesis wave. Plan C involves lots of tokens and overrun effects. Plan D is beating down with efficient beaters abd grinding them out with card advantage and toolboxes.

Where's nylea god of the hunt? Setting it up with predator ooze seems broken. Also; SWARMYARD!

Wirewood symbiote, hornet queen, broodharch nantuko, hornet's nest, saber ants are all nice targets for it. My yisan list also runs invasive species for value.

Ezuri : 2-0, Ramped faster than opponent did both games, T1 was forest + mana elves, T2 Yisan, T3 Yisan out Quirion ranger, T4 Yisan out Rofellos and wood elves, T5 draw gaea's cradle, Yisan out Nylea and Acidic slime on a land, opp scoops
Game 2, T1 forest, T2 forest + GSZ for Fyndhorn elves, T3 Yisan + mirri's guile, T4 cast Seedborn muse, Opp T4, Yisan for Quirion ranger, T5 Yisan for Lotus cobra and Azusa, T6 mirri's guile into Gaea's cradle, Yisan for Nylea and Acidic slime on a land, cast bramblecrush on a land, Opp scoops

Spiking cradle both games was lucky. Your utility beats out his nut draws, tho and you have disruption/CA. Seems like every other Gx deck is an ok matchup, but you'd struggle against heavy control/board wipes. I'd main a [[skylasher]] for the V-clique and Geist matchups.

EDIT: nevermind, scryb ranger is a heck of a card. Nature's lore>rampant growth, though.

Favorite way to win: using other people's cards. Be it a resolved confusion in the ranks or insurrection, it always feels nice.

Least favorite way to lose: craterhoof behemoth. Dumbest wincon ever. You tap out for something and suddenly the green player with five 1/1s oneshots you. Turning a bunch of 1/1 tokens into 42 damage is a dumb effect, and barring counterspells or fog effects there really isn't much counterplay. I'd honestly rather lose to zur lockdown or MLD. Tooth and nail is in the same vein. "Resolves? Ok, GG"

Naya has the best colors to deal with control.

Aura shards for permanent based control, boros charm and ajani's presence for wipes, etc.

My norin list (well, gaka's really) scoops to elesh norn. I can chaos warp it or cast warp world, thats pretty much it, but the damage is done if it resolves Frown

Tormod's crypt and the like ruin my jarad deck, but hey, I have krosan grip.

    Started at eventide.

1- thought bitterblossom was bad because it could kill you.

2- cracked packs like a maniac.

3- thought armored ascension was the best card ever.

4- would routinely play 15 land decks with seven drops.
