steve_man posted a message on [CUBE][SOI] Asylum VisitorI've compiled every synergy I can think of into one list.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
Fast Mana Acceleration (Mox Diamond / Chrome Mox / Dark Ritual / Power 9 Type Cards)
- Really nice for an aggro card to reward you for dumping your hand early, Dark Ritual’s stock especially goes up because of this card.
Discard Spells (Mindtwist / Thoughtseize / Duress / Inquisition of Kozilek / Hymn to Tourach / Gerrard’s Verdict)
- Strips your opponent’s of answers while you increase your threat density, Asylum Visitor also helps you out if you’re playing AGAINST discard.
Pack Rat
- This deserves a special mention. While it’s not exactly great to play these back to back turn 2 and 3 unless you’re stuck on two land, Asylum Visitor doubles Pack Rat’s production in the late game.
Liliana of the Veil / Liliana, Defiant Necromancer
- Lets you develop your board more when you’re going hellbent with everyone’s favorite black planeswalkers.
Hypnotic Specter
- Turn 1 Dark Ritual - > Hypnotic Specter just got a whole lot more fun.
Discard Outlets (Heir of Falkenrath / Wild Mongrel / Psychatog)
- Enables Asylum Visitor’s Madness and rewards you for YOLO fireballing your opponent.
Olivia, Mobilized for War
- Nice interaction between these two, providing fuel for each other’s fire, this and all the other discard interactions really makes Olivia, Mobilized for War a contender in a lot of cube’s Rakdos slots.
Sword of Feast and Famine
- This one’s a double threat since it forces your opponent to discard and helps you empty your hand out faster by untapping your lands.
Masticores
- Feeds the beasts.
Pitch Spells (Force of Will / Contagion)
- What, you don’t cube Contagion?
Vampires Matters Cards (Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet)
- I would have put Falkenrath Gorger on this list but Asylum Visitor already has Madness…

TheTennesseeFireman posted a message on [SOI][CUBE] Duskwatch Recruiter // Krallenhorde HowlerFor what it's worth, this card is testing fantastically. Beyond the natural (and powerful) play of T2 this, T3 activate + flip, it gets you so much value when you play it late. Double activations are very frequent, and opponents will actively take their turn off in order to flip it for you when they can't kill it. 3 mana is just ridiculously cheap for a repeatable draw ability.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
I highly recommend it to anyone who may have let it slip under their radar at the beginning of spoiler season. -

Niphred posted a message on Ojutai ExemplarsPosted in: Cube Card and Archetype DiscussionQuote from Warden »I'm not sold. I'd rather have another 2, 3, or 5 drop. To "protect" this guy once he comes out is conditional and requires the 5th mana anyway. He's really a functional 5 drop unless you're ahead.
I see it in a different way. There are times when creatures like this one are big flagbearers that mock the opponent to blow removal on them. Opponent doesn't remove it? Have a resilient creature. Opponent blows a Wrath, a premium removal or two burn spells on it? Let's see how he handles the next threat.
Sometimes, the expected power of a card is more important than the actual power. There's a reason some cards are undervalued by lots of people: flagbearers tend to live a short life. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

How it works:
- Create a 4x4 grid of cards.
- Starting from the top left corner and moving across the top, number them 5, 10, 15, and 20.
- Do the same moving down the left side.
- Now, to see how much a group of cards costs, your start at the most left card of a row, or the most top card of a column, and move across/down as many cards as you want, then multiply the number of cards you took by the value of that row/column.
- For example, there's an Umezawas Jitte three spaces from the left and three down, so I grab that card, and all cards before it (either above or to the left), then pay points equal to (number of cards taken) x (point value of row/column). In this instance, it'd be 45 points.
- Finally, the player ends their turn by sliding all cards in a row or column to the left or top respectively, then replacing the taken cards from the cube.
The point system: Everyone starts with 300 points, and goes through 20 rounds, gaining 10 points per round, then builds their deck.
I'm eager to hear your thoughts/questions/concerns, as I'm sure this isn't perfect. I do think there's the seed of an engaging 2-4 person draft format though.

Shifting Sharpshooter 2RW
Creature - Human Soldier {R}
When ~ enters the battlefield, it deals 2 damage to target creature or player.
1W: Exile ~ with two time counters on it.
Suspend 2 - RW
2/2
Acceptable or too weak now?
