Exploratory Design is best served by quickly designing a duel deck pair to see if your ideas are good. This only requires designing about 23 cards for each deck at *most* - if you're playing singleton (40 card decks are fine). However, you can easily run 2 copies of each idea in this 40 card deck and can include pre-existing cards if they're not part of what you're testing - cutting your design work in less than half. For example, if you want to test creature mechanics, your spell support could easily incorporate pre-existing removal and so on from the real game.
All this means it's easy to mock up a quick and dirty playtest in about a day to give you an early glimpse of what's working and what's not. For one aspect of Dreamscape's exploratory design, the ability dreamwalk was basically an evasion ability so we just took 2 copies of a precon deck that had a good amount of flying creatures and said "all creatures with flying have dreamwalk instead". That playtest was very valuable and took less than 15 minutes to set up.

Juju posted a message on The *CUBE* Forum 2014 Secret Santa Thread! (Done - thanks, everyone!)Posted in: The Cube ForumQuote from withwarrior »the Balance left me alittle heartbroken though...
Why heartbroken? It's just a little fun; it's not like Santa wrote it on a dual land.
On another note, a lot of people got altered cards from their santa this year. Are there a lot of closet alterers on the cube boards that I wasn't aware of?? I say this because I enjoy doing alter swaps with people on the cube forums. I've done it with two people so far. If anyone else is interested, drop me a line. -

@ Hardbody: Sick swords there man! Wish I could see them in person, since I'm sure the foil is stunning like that! I guess we both have a sweet set now
Yeah, Altaurus, as soon as I saw those Modfly alters on facebook, I knew they were for a cube. I suspected it would be yours!
Here is a nice Impulse, a Stoneforge Mystic, and a Brainstorm done by my buddy: -

@wtwlf: I think Bigup posted higher res images of each land as he finished them on his Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/bigupalters If you're not following that page, you're missing out. I love his alters. -

wtwlf123 posted a message on [Official] Altered/Pimp Cube Cards ThreadI've been seeing those crop up one at a time for quite a while now. Such an amazing set! Do you have closeups too, or a shot of the group I can zoom in on? There's some insane detail there that I can't see in that overall shot.Posted in: The Cube Forum -

NathanZimmerer posted a message on [600][Custom][Powered] The full 600 card list!Posted in: Cube ListsQuote from Altaurus321 »Ferrick's still way too strong man Pianna is a fine card, playable in maybe 540+ already. Adding an easier mana cost, giving her persist and everything that attacks persist is very difficult for the opponent to come back from after blocking. You could probably make it either WWW and a 3/2, 1WW and remove her persist granting ability, or 1WW and remove her persist ability, or 2WW and make her a 3/2. I'd be more ok with any of those fixes, though still think the middle two are the best ones.
I think you're completely right, and appreciate you pointing that out again. I made him 1WW and replaced persist with undying and made other creatures only get +1/+1 until eot. I know, it's still very powerful but it helps white and token strategies which is really great as this list is a full powered cube.
I'll be posting blue soon here, just would like to take the time to create a set icon first. Stay tuned and hopefully I'll get some more feedback soon!

Goodking posted a message on [540][Powered] wtwlf123's CubeI posted on the subject elsewhere, but I would say that it's basically a wash. I value Aether Searcher pretty highly as a borderline hardcastable AND reanimatable AND tinkerable AND colourless finisher for any deck. That's four boxes out of five ticked (being Green for NO is another). So it is inherently playable in a number of decks. Now if we look at what it does - I'd say in our experience, which is about four drafts so far, it represents good enough value with nearly anything costing four mana or more. There are a fair few 3 CMC effects stapled to it which are fine as well (Recurring Nightmare lol), and anything costing 5+ typically makes it very hard to come back from. You aren't weakening your deck by including the other card which you would have played anyway.Posted in: Cube Lists
Now regarding cube size, I'd say that perhaps the only issue is the competition at the colourless slot costing 7. I prefer (only slightly) Myr Battlesphere, but I play Searcher above Karn who doesn't fulfil enough of my criteria for an expensive card. I have yet to see Aether Searcher attached to something that would be less explosive than Karn, and seeing as it's also much more versatile it's an easy include for us. Upping the number of colourless finishers and reducing the coloured ones has proven to be a good move in general for our cube, so two 7 mana cards has been OK. -

Antknee42 posted a message on [[SCD]] MetalworkerI just want it known that I completely disagree with the statement that PM and Metalworker being on roughly the same power level. Saying that the Myr is more consistent is a HUGE misnomer, because the decks that use Metalworker will rarely if ever only be able to activate it for a measly two mana. Myr is more FLEXIBLE, as you can play it in your green ramp decks (or other such things) as a colorless mana dork. Your description right after this statement seems to disagree with your own opening statement!Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
Metalworker is much more powerful than PM, but PM can find a home in more decks.

user-12596766 posted a message on Print This Wizards (so I can put it in my cube)Darkling is amazing. I *really* want it to see print, but I'm afraid it's too good. Infinite combo with Necropotence, Yawgmoth's Bargain and (probably most problematically) Lim Dul's Vault.Posted in: The Cube Forum
But I don't care. I want WOTC to print this and ban whatever cards necessary in whatever formats necessary to make it possible :).
EDIT:
I don't quite see the appeal of Sakura-Tribe Eulogist. Am I missing something? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

EDIT: Today's is up. I'd like to ask everyone to use just simple symbols too (ie. -,(),[],{},\/). The site made a change at some point in the recent past where abnormal symbols cause an error when trying to quote things. Today's took a bit because I was trying to hunt down the greater than/less than sign in Flatline's post, which is apparently not one of the accepted ones. Would make it a lot easier for those reposting the thread every day Thanks and have fun!

Welcome to the DCC!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post in the All-New DCC Discussion Thread.
How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Whenever your card receives a vote in the day's poll, you receive [1] point for the month. If your card ends up with the most votes for that day, you will receive [2] additional points for the month. In the event of a tie, each person who tied receives [1] additional point. At the end of each month, the person with the most points on the scoreboard wins that month, then the scoreboard is cleared for the next month. You can participate in as many or as few days as you want in any month.
a pollthe thread as long as your card didn't get disqualified - see the next point for more details. If you post more than one card in a DCC thread, only the first card you post will be taken. You have a poll in the thread; You include everyone's cards (excluding cards that have been disqualified); The poll is marked as public and multiple choice with a one-day time limit; andI may be addicted to sweet potato fries.
