I ended up taking the scanner route, as it was the most consistent and I can easily replace parts of the scans as new cards come out.
I just checked the pictures. I am so incredibly jealous. Your cube is beautiful. Bravo! -

I can't express how much I appreciate everyone I've contacted and how helpful they've been. It's been a crazy few years, but I'm finally happy with the percentage of alters in my cube. Hope you all enjoy and thank you all again!
I normally don't care for it when people try to showcase so many cards/an entire deck of alters at once like this but: there is some great quality work here, especially the Bigup and Seesic cards, and the image sizes and quality are really good.
Nice stuff, thanks for sharing. -

DrWorm posted a message on [Official] Altered Art Thread (56k Beware)Wow, those Pox14 alters are breathtaking! I especially love the Chandra and Lili, but those lands are phenomenal too. I can't imagine the money spent on this cube, not only to get money cards like duals, but to also have them altered so professionally. Putting this together is something to be proud of, and something that should be padlocked to your wrist whenever it is not being used- personally I think I would be too anxious to let any but my most trusted friends and family even touch the cube.Posted in: Artwork
Looking at your original artist alters I can't help but notice not all of them are brag worthy. You should try and get a Steve Argyle or two. I follow his tumblr and he does very high quality alters that are quite imaginative. -

As I finished building the deck, I commented that I felt like I had a lot of cards that had good interactions together, but it hadn't come together as an actual good deck. I played out the matches, and I still believe that was a correct statement. I went 2-2.
I went 0-2 against a Junk "Kill everything" deck. I had a land heavy draw that had every spell in my hand mind twisted, then drew nothing but land for the rest of the first game, then I got 5 for 1'd by a Pernicious deed that hit Mana Crypt, Everflowing Chalice, Sacred Mesa, Crystal Ball, and Goblin Bombardment. It wasn't a pretty match.
I went 2-0 against a R/B aggro deck. She drew poorly, and I drew really well. I played a Purphoros, and then cast Rise of the Hobgoblins where X=5, then the next turn cast Goblin Trenches and sacrificed two lands to do 8 more to finish the game. I don't remember the second game of the match because the first one was so awesome.
I went 2-1 against a U/W tempo deck in a match that featured the following plays.
T1 Mountain
T2 Mountain, Mana Crypt, Ogre Battledriver
T3 Island - Option to run Siege Gang Commander into open counterspell mana.
I elected not to go for the blowout, and it's a good thing because he did have two counterspells. I baited them out with Goblin trenches and a removal spell and waited til I had 2 or 3 more mana to pay for the taxing ones, then played the Siege-Gang for maximum badassery.
I lost my last round to a RUG ramp deck. Both games I was getting things going. I had purphoros out and cast rise of the hobgoblins for 4 in one of them. Everything was looking great, and then he played his 6th land and cast inferno titan, and I lost. News flash: Inferno Titan is really good against Tokens: the Deckening. We played an additional game in which he didn't draw Inferno Titan, and I rolled him.

Thoughts on individual cards
I never drew opposition, so we never discovered if my blue splash was worth it. I can only assume it would've been, because Opposition is awesome.
Purphoros and Ogre Battledriver are both insane. Every time I drew one I felt like I was guaranteed to win. I didn't always win with them, but I usually did (when Inferno Titan wasn't around), and they're ridiculously good.
Sacred Mesa was underwhelming all night. Of course that means I drew it almost every game. I never had the mana to do what I wanted with it, and I never managed to get it online with battledriver or Purphoros, but ultimately it was just too clunky. I don't think it's powerful enough anymore, whenever I was messing around with it, my opponents were doing way better things.
Goblin Trenches and Rise of the Hobgoblins were both insane. I'm a little disappointed by this because I don't want to cut Lightning Helix for good, I just put it to the side long enough to try both cards, but they were both really good. I'm seriously considering moving Hybrid cards to monocolored sections soon, though, so that may solve my problem.
Goblin Bombardment was amazing, even when I didn't have something like Bitterblossom or Goblin Assault making tokens for me every turn. The only time i had it in play was against the R/B aggro deck, but it gave me so much flexibility in combat that it was incredibly frustrating for her to try to make good decisions.
In my deck, Young Pyromancer and Armageddon were both pretty bad. I only had like 5 instants or sorceries, and only triggered pyromancer once all night, and I wasn't able to create a board state where armageddon would be good most of the time. My draft only ended up with me having around 25-26 playables, which is why there are some super questionable choices in the decklist.
-----------
Overall, I drafted a bad deck last night, with some insanely powerful new cards, and those new cards were incredibly fun. I'd like to try drafting the deck again to see if I can do a better job with it, but my first impression is that this is a difficult deck to put together, but no harder than pox. I had some 2-2 pox drafts with decks about this quality level, and I also had some 4-0 drafts and some 0-4 drafts. I think the same possibility exists here, and it's worth giving the deck a shot. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature you don’t own
Each creature you control is a copy of enchanted creature, except they are Illusions and have “Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it.”

@ itsover9000: Those are all excellent! Those took quite a while huh? I remember seeing a lot of those throughout the year on his deviantart page.

I think this one is my favorite. Its the most simple, while still being a very effective (see Spell Pierce level) counterspell.
From what you described, this doesn't really fit the theme as well as the previous card (the double restriction is what I'm talking about). Its also a much less flexible card in general.
Ehhh, at 5 mana its acts like a hard counter for most of the game, which goes against the spirit of taxing IMO.
This is my second favorite. I really like the idea of a 1 mana cycle that replaces the usual restrictions for the color restrictions though, so that wins out for me. And I know you didnt say anything about them all being 1 mana, but I think that'd be a cool way to take it Like a 1 mana instant prey upon that only hits nongreen creatures for example. Or a Lightning bolt that only hits nonred creatures etc.
This is normally the best thing to do.

That would be Poxy.
