    Enchantment - Aura

    Enchant creature you don’t own

Each creature you control is a copy of enchanted creature, except they are Illusions and have “Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it.”

@ wtwlf123: Beautiful redo man! I sent you a PM about a possible trade for the previous one Wink

@ itsover9000: Those are all excellent! Those took quite a while huh? I remember seeing a lot of those throughout the year on his deviantart page.

You always take the time to comment on mine, so I figured I'd do you the same courtesy :p

I think this one is my favorite. Its the most simple, while still being a very effective (see Spell Pierce level) counterspell.
    Subtle Undoing U
    Instant
    Counter target nonblue, noncreature spell.
From what you described, this doesn't really fit the theme as well as the previous card (the double restriction is what I'm talking about). Its also a much less flexible card in general.
    Subtle Undoing 1U
    Instant
Counter target nonblue spell (unless its controller pays 5?)
Ehhh, at 5 mana its acts like a hard counter for most of the game, which goes against the spirit of taxing IMO.
    Subtle Undoing UU
    Instant
Counter target nonblue spell. If that spell is countered this way, exile it instead of putting it into its owner's graveyard.
Sometimes, it takes only the smallest tug on the tiniest thread to unravel an entire tapestry
This is my second favorite. I really like the idea of a 1 mana cycle that replaces the usual restrictions for the color restrictions though, so that wins out for me. And I know you didnt say anything about them all being 1 mana, but I think that'd be a cool way to take it :p Like a 1 mana instant prey upon that only hits nongreen creatures for example. Or a Lightning bolt that only hits nonred creatures etc.

Yeah I know all that buddy, what I find is problematic is how divergent the conversations become. It highlights the unimportance of the offending subject in these little arguments and makes it really apparent that it's more about wanting to debate based on your understanding and ability to find work-around arguments.

Like who cares about that disenchant anymore. I was winning that argument about how green has always had removal. Do you see how unhelpful that extended interaction was to that idea of the card. And like it always seems to get so narrow to facilitate the getting the last word in goal of this. Like no body was bringing up effigy or colourless versions of Akromas vengeance or how loose the colour pie feels in just about every eternal format these days due to the incredible access to colour fixing it is really not a problem for black decks to play a naturalize. No the conversation took as little time considering the idea in question as it needed to make forays into other ways I can shut this other poster down or get a word in edgewise. Whatever was most heated / convenient really.

And still the content of my argument isn't engaged in favor of making a tried and true old one that is only vaguely related. We had a neat rule bending card there and it turned into a silly succession of unhelpful debates. I'm not saying we should have embraced the card with open arms, no I love working with restricted design space as much as the next guy. I'm saying the trend shuts cool ideas down and it really feels like people are more excited about trivia and getting the last word in than discussing neat ideas by how many times you see arguments like this spill out.

I thought when you decided to tell me what i might not know about green removal while I was trying to demonstrate how unhelpful and tangential the conversation had become was like the perfect example. It felt like you looked at my whole post in search of a way you could demonstrate your eminence, effectively routing the rest of what I had to say, and launched the factoid missile.

I also understand that our collective criticism is a great gauntlet for the best ideas, but I really think it's lost it's way. People aren't being broad at all with the way they look at a thing. They pick an angle of attack and see where it leads them, usually away from the subject entirely where we get to watch another trivia slugmatch and the participants didn't care because that's all they wanted out of posting on the card idea in the first place.

I think that's my main issue here. The gauntlet doesn't feel like it's about nurturing cool card ideas anymore as mi much about defeating them or defeating fellow poster's in theory or precedence arguments.
Look man, as someone who has been creating cards for quite a few years and loves doing so, you need to take criticism with a grain of salt, but also understand that if that you are designing cards for a specific group of people (cubers) and if even they scoff at the designs, then something is probably wrong and being able to look at that instead of saying they don't know what they are talking about (which seems to happen a fair amount among card designers) is huge step towards being a better designer in general. Know what came before, know where you want to go, and know your audience.

Anyway I'm sorry for making a big stink here I just thought it was too on the nose the whole "green removal for x years" response and I guess I should have just chuckled to myself and not written everyone an essay.
This is normally the best thing to do.

Your cube is awe-inspiring too, friend.

Seriously guys, if you haven't checked out its0v3r9000's cube scans, you're doing yourself a disservice. It's beautiful.

And while you're at it, check out Altaurus321's OP for an insane alter collection. So many of those beautiful alters I'd love to have in my own collection.

Ever since I saw that Memory Lapse I've been waiting for seesic to start accepting commissions again. Curious though, I can't make out the signature on the Eternal Dragon. Who did that one? Considering any other GoT alters?
    That would be Poxy.
