Wow...takes a bit to grasp that card there.

I like it. No more issues with needing to have a specific color for casting Samurai. With Conspiracy, I could see some rather fun things to do with this.

Well, I like the name at least. Hopefully it gets some nice art. Obviously not as good as Wrath, but for a block Wrath variant, it's not bad at all. If there are a lot more graveyard triggers in the rest of the block, it could be very solid indeed.

I built a moderately casual version of the Azusa/Soratami deck. I'd actually like some improvement ideas, as it's not really fast enough to really go off in a duel. In multiplayer it often wipes the floor with everyone, though:

Meloku the Clouded Mirror x 3
    Soratami Mirror-Mage x 4
    Soratami Savant x 4
Azusa, Lost but Seeking x 3
    Budoka Gardener x 2
    Floating-Dream Zubera x 4
    Sakura-Tribe Elder x 4

    Gifts Ungiven x 3
Counsel of the Soratami x 4
    Hinder x 4
    Time of Need x 4

    Forest x 8
    Island x 13

I'm a very low-budget player, so things like the fact that there are only 3 Gifts Ungiven is mainly due to that. There is no sideboard because I don't play tournaments nearly at all, so there really isn't much of a need, but if I can get it up to shape, I may want to actually put forth the effort to make one.

I have to agree with Max on that, R_E. Most people are more loyal to you than the site you worked for. The reason being that trust with some website is a lot more vague than trust with a person. I know I trust what you post because it's almost always true. The trust is much more important than the URL at the top of my browser.

I have to admit, that's more than reasonable in terms of length. I wonder what the character limit is set to.

I'd actually prefer quite the opposite. I despise large signatures, and I think yours is more than long enough. The exceedingly long signature lines were what kept me away from posting at MTGnews in the first place.

Ya, I'm trying to xport my Clan here too. I got banned, and even had not been, I wouldn't want to stay. Once people realize tey arn't gonna have a full BoK spoiler, then the real breakdown will begin.

nyway, good to see you here. Glad most members are coming over.

If there is no BoK spoiler there, and they leave because of that, they won't come here: "We won't have a spoiler either."

Not if we can get elf. Wink

But what would stop them from stealing the spoiler and then posting it? I've seen enough examples of that done with almost every type of digital content ever made. Stealing a spoiler should be a sinch.

We could do the YOU ARE SUPRISED AND KILLED BY MTG SALVATION trick.

Not to be mean, but anyone who is actually seriously trying would read the spoiler and edit out any text of that nature. Of course, I could be giving people more credit than they deserve.

By the way, you screwed up your quote tags ^_~

Why hello there. Meet the standard newbie. Nice to see you around here, we could use some information OTHER than the death of MTGnews to make this place more interesting ^_^()

Part of the point of Wikipedia is that you can look up just about anything and find something about it. If you don't, you can contribute by writing an entry yourself. It shouldn't matter whether it's a website or a historical event, if it's information, it's allowed on there.

I personally think an encyclopedia created that way has a lot more credibility to me than a bunch of people without the entire internet as their editors.

Might I suggest actually NOT talking about MTGnews?

It would probably be a good idea to designate a single topic for the discussion of the MTGnews fiasco and devoting the rest of the space on the forums for discussion of other topics?

I understand that the death throws of MTGnews are big news, but do we really need 10 topics on each section of the forums talking about it? It seems to me that the fact that everyone is from MTGnews and talking about it is just dragging the forums away from the purpose they have, which is to rebuild from the ashes. All I see everyone doing here is poking the ashes with a stick and then being amused at how the ashes collapse. That mentality really won't get us anywhere.

I'd really like this forum I just joined to be something cool and interesting, instead of a bunch of people slowing down to see the accident on the other side of the highway.

    Edit: Rather stupid typo.

I've always found that having post count mean anything on a forum is always a bad idea, because it encourages people to post for the simple point of increasing their post count.

Ranks are pretty meaningless anyhow. Having rank increase by post count is just another reason to post spam. I've always been a major fan of the "User, Moderator, Administrator, Banned" ranks myself.

  • posted a message on A Democratic Forums - A constitution
Internet forums really cannot be run as a democracy. At a basic level, a certain amount of dictatorship is needed to run an effective forum.

MTGNews appears to have been taken out through corruption in high places more than administrative abuse. If the person on top doesn't care, then nothing gets done. That has nothing to do with forum administration, and if that happens, the site will just die in due course no matter how the forums are structured.

The best way to keep a community around has more to do with the member base itself. If the people want the community to stay around, it will. The URL the community has is generally irrelevant.

Well, I was always one of those lurkers on MTGNews that just read the forums, but this place has that nice "new site" feel that I just like when I'm deciding whether or not to actually join a forum, so I gave in and actually created an account. Oh well, even if I don't use it, I get my PHPBB cookies ^_~

Not to mention it looks like this site has a "Signatures are not to be retarded" rule. I appreciate that one. *looks at random forum with signatures the size of small novels*

Also, you might want to put the avatar restrictions and rules on signature advertising into the rules topic, and make it more visible. I personally couldn't find whether or not I'm allowed to plug my website in my signature anywhere, so I took the safe approach and left the signature blank for now.

Hopefully I'll actually enjoy this place. Never been a part of the online Magic community, so I guess I'll start off here.
