We have received reports from people claiming that they are offended by use of the word due to either being related to, or having jobs related to, someone who is mentally impaired.
So if these reports are to be taken at face value, then yes, people have been "incidentally offended" by it.
Wow. Just, wow.
If I start reporting people who say Christ as a cuss, will you censor that too?
I think it's more of the point of incidental offense. Even if you are not on the receiving end of being called retarted, you may actually be mental impaired and take offense to other people using it in a negative way. Same thing could be said if you talk about how some guy Jewed you in a trade, and then I (if I was jewish) might overhear and take offense.
On a side-note, the french word for delay is ******, so that word does appear on a magic card. Just saying, but completely understand the decision.
no but that's exactly my point, is there anybody who has been incidentally offended by the word?
Is there actually anyone on this site who has ever been offended by the word ****** when they wouldn't also have been offended by the word idiot, imbecile or mentally impaired midget?
Yeah, basically whenever anyone says something like this:
Thats where everything got really gay.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with gay people. I have many gay friends, and I have never poked fun at them for being gay. I am generally very accepting of people
then you know for certain that they are homophobic.
Another big hint is when they make posts on forums complaining about what gay people were doing at a show - for all the "I'd have a problem with women doing this too" and "No seriously, I'm not a homophobe", it doesn't change the fact that this poster is obviously a homophobe.
However, he might not actually realise it - attribution bias is a powerful force, and so he might be able to delude himself into thinking he treats gays and straights the same way. That's what I think is going on here.
All the people defending him have basically the same problem; they all think that they aren't homophobic because they do the exact same thing this guy has done - say "I'm not homophobic" a lot. Doesn't change the fact that they actually are. So yeah. I'd rather not deal with this level of repessed hatred; it is probably time to leave this thread. Adios.
Huh, I guess people on this site are more homophobic than I thought. Like, he is clearly biased against these people because of their sexuality. I'm suprised how many of you people are able to pretend that he isn't.
So, the big point of posting this is to get a few questions answered:
~ Are all House events this crazy? other than the ending I had a good time
Yes. If you can't handle a little bit of gay then you shouldn't go.
~ Do people not have self-respect anymore?
You say you don't have a problem with gay people, but it certainly seems like you have a problem with gay people. I mean, obviously they didn't think there was anything wrong with what they were doing - they had self-respect. They didn't have your respect, but that is hardly relevent.
[qoute]~ Was there a better way to handle the situation?[/quote]
Yes. Not being a prude.
~ Or is it just me?
Not just you; other homophobes would have a problem too.
Any comments/ideas are appreciated, if anyone has personal insight it would be great to hear.
Thanks,
~~Kris

Aw, thanks guys! I didn't know how many of you knew that I have always liked to pretend that my birthday was actually September second, in honor of our forefathers. Although my real birthday is March 29th, I will happily take your presents regardless.
What?
If it isn't actually your birthday then I'm taking my 'happy birthday' back.
I was pissed. As a long time player, I have plenty of lands already, and as a drafter, I was annoyed that it cut another card from drafting.
Well I mean, how old are you?
And it goes without saying that PMO is miles ahead of any other mtg webcomic, its only flaw (acknowledged by paz) is the infrequent updates. Otherwise, it's excellent in every regard.
He's not making fun of noobs or people liking basic lands, he's poking fun at everyone being pissed off at wizards for putting basics in the packs, then going nuts over the full-art basics in ZEN.
That can't be the joke, because nobody was pissed of at wizards for putting basics in packs - it was a pretty good idea because it allowed people to cast spells.
I think the point that moboto is trying to make is that you have to be crazy to agree with WotC. See how how the first person (normal looking) is captioned "typical MTG player" while the big round Charlie Brown person is not captioned like that? That's because in order to approve of something Wizards does you have to have a weird facial structure/be weird.
I don't really get what the middle panel has to do with anything though. IMO, it could have been cut out.
Oh, I think I get it now. Moboto is calling me stupid and ugly because I play basic lands? Frankly, I don't see how that's funny
I mean, I sure hope you find what you are looking for elsewhere. Best of luck.

I see the joke the comic is making, now that I realize people like you exist. Thanks for clearing that up.
Yeah, happy birthday
