I play it in Grixis Control as a one-of. It makes a beautiful followup to Grave Titan. Typically, the titan is the finishing move for B/x Control, so once I drop the titan, they make a big move to defend themselves thinking its my bomb, and when they're near tapped out, drop Vengeance. I agree though that it shouldn't be compared to Cruel Ultimatum though. One is a CA machine, one is a kill card.
Okay, I've been playtesting Fae for a week plus now, and I'm stuck on a few decisions. Input is appreciated.
Thoughts on: Sword of War and Peace. I've seen lists run Sword of Feast and Famine, and I think the reason is obvious there, but War and Peace brings some good things to the table, most specifically the lifegain to counteract the loss from Bitterblossom. Run both? Run only F&F? Run neither?
Dismember mainboard? I currently run Dismember in the sb, but what are thoughts on it having a place in the mb?
I'll put up a decklist soon. Constantly switching cards in and out, so any list I put up now won't be accurate tomorrow
What definitely helped the deck is the extra four sources of auto-draw, the Temple Bell. I played Runeflare at a few FNM, and the Fonts and Mines were always the deciding factor. Being able to throw four more of those in is definitely helpful.
The sideboard should have had Call to Heel, but damn, nice to see Runeflare take top.
He has been testing Elspeth in it, and so far, she is a house. Giving +3/+3 and flying to a leveled Student of Warfare is GG. I'd recommend testing Elspeth for a bit. He tried Gideon and results were underwhelming. Elspeth has him beat out for sure.
Any counter, I say "Nope" in the voice of Adam D. of Killswitch Engage. In the studio, whenever he listened to a take he didn't like, instead of saying "Let's try that bit again" or something, Adam just says "NOPE" really obnoxiously. Head Games - "Get outta my head Charles!" Cruel Ultimatum I just call the "backbreaker" or "Cruelious Ultimatus"
I am the Archenemy. I take control of one of my opponent's turns, either by Sorin Markov or Mindslaver. According to Archenemy rules, the heroes all take their turns at the same time. So, I presume I just conduct the stolen turn along with them.
Am I allowed to attack them with the creatures I now control? Am I allowed to block for the Archenemy if the heroes attack? What are the limits on what can be done against "teammates" with a stolen turn?
I like the idea, but my concern is the early game. A good deal of your lock strategy spells are 4-cost. Granted, you have some counters in there, but what worries me is what happens when the Echo Mage is bolted and you can only pick off one land at a time.
A lot of blue decks splash Goyf just because he's that awesome
tl;dr - It's an unexpected win.

Thank you <3

Thank you in advance.
Perhaps a more secure win-condition as backup?
