I think he was quoting Family Guy. At the end of one show, they are saying all these insults for different races and nationalities and following it up with some politically correct crap to make up for it (they were spoofing how old school cartoons used to end with a moral). At the end of it, it just showed peter and he said "..Canada Sucks" and just stood there for a while. Heh

Pretty much, I posted about 2mins after finishing watching that particular episode of Family Guy. It wasn't meant as a point of offend, but more like an sarcastic tone of interpretation of what that article entailed. Much like the awesome Americans we are, we tend to blame our troubles or express our distastes to opposing countries that we don't 'like'. The article pretty much blames the lack of support for legacy on the community of 'sourcers'. I also find it laughable that the last 25% of the article consisted of the Ben advertising that he's going to be there with his business friends ready to sell and buy cards. Awesome, that was really necessary and vital to the lecture.

   .

In another word, I'm so gonna rock my economics finals in the next 30mins. Jam

EDIT - Sappy, you should so make a Survival of the fittest shell with access to Yosei, the morning star, pack that with stuff like oversold cemetery. Or Scriven for some recuring Flash abusing. It won't be broken like Hulk Flash, but it'd offer some rediculus recovery hilarity. Oh, Sundering titan.

Personally, I'm kinda with Mucky, Magic has lost its spark for me, but for a different reason. The reason would be this fellow here. Seriously, wtf were they thinking? Of course, with the recent article here just plain sickens me. I guess since I decide to like the format, I have an obligation to show people that I'm just a down to earth kinda guy.

    No

    ...Canada sucks.

So I got this message from MTGsalvation about how I haven't been posting, so here I am? Life's been kinda busy. The recent craziness in the Legacy format has opt me to not care for it for a little while (Although consequences of it, there may be an excuse to play one of my favorite deck). As of late, I've been playing Ultimate Frisbee 4times a week, running, and studying for my up-coming finals next week. So umm anyways, who want to give Twinkee Street Wraiths? Pretty please? Grin

It's Chainer's edict for legacy. I stopped caring about that thread when they mentioned Grave-shell scarab. I haven't really touched the list at all for while, but it's still sad to see them butchering it.

Muck: You're a black guy? Confused

    Sha: You rock ;).

Here's the deal about the friend that passed on. During my Spring vacation week, the friend, Mike, calls up my gf's brother telling him that his cancer came back and he has to do some biopsy. During the procedure, the doctors decided that for one reason or another to remove the tumor found in his brain along with part of his brain. Later we find out that apparently there's rumor that the surgeon knicked his brain, but regardless of that, they believe the part of the brain that had to remove with the tumor controls his breathing. So Mike has to be put on the respirator after the surgery. Next day after the Surgery, they announced that the Tumor is terminal, and they don't expect him to live even with radiation. As a few days wore on, Mike's condition worsens as he begins to lose the ability to communicate occasionally. At this point, Hospisus Nurses and Doctors decided to try to convince the Mike's mother that Mike should be removed from the respirator as they don't believe he will survive. His mom declined, but as the doctors and nurses continues to convince her over the next past few days, she became convinced. Fast forward to a couple days ago, Mike's family, friend, priest, and doctors continues to convince him of removing his respirator because he has no chance. Then after two weeks of refusal, he agrees to remove his respirator (which, this information is sketchy, as Mike's pretty drugged up). They removed the respirator Monday at around 11:00AM. They didn't expect him to survive for more than 15mins. He passed away at 2:15pm Tuesday, 26hours after the removal of his respirator.

So basically, you guys have to get me outta a ****ing hospital if I ever get into one. Kidnap me or something.

    Jaede: Happy Birthday!! hi5!

Oni: Nice to see you around again.

Casual, Legacy, Standard, Extended, Two-Headed Giants, and Vintage all have different standards for the viability of cards. But just because you play casual doesn't mean that you can't critical assess the card's weakness and denote which format it can thrive in.

In another news, my gf's friend is getting pulled off of the respirator after a surgery on his brain two weeks ago (He's expected to die within the next few hours). She's quite upset at it, and quite frankly, I'm torn in how I feel about the situation. I'd kill myself first before I admitted to a hospital. No

Yes, those spell tempo gain without card-disadvantage ;).

The zero mana counterspell still doesn't impress me though. In essence, what forms do Combo hate take in-place? They take in place as a permanents or non-permanents or in this case, it is more logically to assess them as Sorcery speed hate and Instant speed hate. With the upkeep at 5cc cost, it is unlikely that for a combo deck to be able to pay for the upkeep cost, which brings me to my next point: It is worthless against sorcery speed hate in most cases (abeit, Solidarity's case). Discard and permanent hate such as Duress or Chalice of the void will most likely eat you alive long before the card will come online. Sure you can argue that you can play the trick of Trickbind, the 'combo' still does not come online until turn2, that's assuming of course that you have the two cards, landing 2 land drops, and aren't spending your mana for your turn2. Now then there is the Instant speed hate. There are Funeral charm and extripate (which you can't counter anyways) but much of the time they don't pose a great threat to combo, so I'm going to focus my argument on the infamous counterspells. Basically I'm going to ask, why bother? In my situations before, you are setting yourself in a situation where this card will only be useful when you will successfully combo off that turn, or the game has lasted long enough so that you need to pay for the 5cost (at which, the zero-mana cost seems like such a lie) for this card to be remotely useful. However, is there not plenty of ways to beat combo hate already? The mechanics Storm, which gives the mighty finger to counterspell and laughs about it. I admit there are situations where it can come in handy such as Salvager's Game type of combo where it could be useful, but I often ask, why don't you take the proactive position and take out the counterspell instead of taking the reactive position? Considering many times, the combo is the aggressor the match-up against control, would it not be logical to play cards that fits the role of the deck rather than not?

Then again, I'm assessing it all from a legacy meta stand-point. I haven't look at standard in a while, so correct me if I'm wrong.

    [/end of Twinkee's obnoxious rant]

I guess it's just my standard of play due to Legacy. But having those gimmicks, such as stifle/trickbind: 1. Spells card disadvantage. 2. Wasting mana that I could use it for better things.

In a sense, the zero mana counter should better be spelled as "1U: Discard a card. counter target spell." I wouldn't touch that. Sure you can argue Force of Will, but for one, it doesn't cost a mana, and I carelessly left out the specific card you need to 'discard' to the 'zero' mana counterspell.

But...why would you want to make that trade-off unless you were playing certain combo decks?

Decks with no real tutoring power (5/3) could greatly benefit from this type of minimizing of deck space to maximize the consistency of the deck. Decks like Survival may not, or decks that strive to have answers (ie: control) may not find it auto include. But Aggressive decks such as Iggy pop, TES, Belcher, Burn, 5/3, Red death...etc all could theoretically see it in the deck. I have also left out stuff like Loam control and friggorid as well...

    Basically, me <3 it. Grin

I retract my saying about nothing being amazing in FS... Street Wraith. Essentially with 4 in the deck, it spells "-8 life, start the game with 56 cards"... at the worst of course. I want 2000 of them right now >>.

I'm back! After turning in my 4 papers due today and finishing up the in class test with premature arthritis, I'm freeeee.

Nice to see the thread is picking up some traffic.

@the stalker craziness: I've actually tried to put that thing in a Stax shell since most of those cards (except the mishra) are fairly friendly with the stax accel. Outside of the whole 'I die to Goblin' deal, it was fairly entertaining.

@FS: So far most stuff seems not too bad, everything's just seem to be a tad bit overcost for legacy or does nothing. But that multi-color card wish is definitely sexy. I can so see it in truffle shuffle to help it speed up the match-up clock.

@Sappy: You rock sir. I can't say this to you enough. That response to the questions blew my mind. hi5!

TES: Most developed-by-wastedlife deck in the format. Take his claims with a grain of salt. That has won and t8 several large tournaments

BTW, I favor Terrageddon or Death and Taxes: Most developed-by-finn-and-his(?)-<3<3<3-crew(s)(?) in the format.

    Edit for the truthery

Landstill can be formidable with the lack of wasteland. TES or other forms of Tentril-based combo if played correctly can handle a fairly Aggressive based format that you have described. Or Pernicious Deed-based deck. Stax may seem to be favorable as well, especially with sun tower with it's (omghax) Ensnaring bridge, Chalice of the void, and numbers of sweepers for the board. I would tend to stay away from aggro-control based decks as, from the description, there will be a formidable amount of Affinity which can man-handle them (generalizing of course). In any case, Solidarity or other form of Storm-based combo deck seems to be the most reliable (with able practice with them).

    Or you play Jobblins.

    Good luck :).
