Jan 23, 2007Twinkee posted a message on Because I'm boredWell, the class is discussing what makes a situation a moral situation. So I suppose they got caught up in all the definitions that people were throwing up. Still though, I loved it when I called one guy, or rather his idea, Hitler during class. :xd:Posted in: Twinkee's Blog

In anycase... sweet costume there Jaede! To be honest, I'm not much for the dress up... I prefer other wise. *whissle*
I swear! It's Sappy that's rubbing off on me... I'm ignocent!
Day after valentine's day seems to be the day where singles whine about about valentines and how they don't believe in the day. Bus to school (1 hour long)- two guys on the phone talking about valentines. About how they were alone yesterday, and how they didn't believe in valentines... then whines about their back.
At school - A guy and a girl walks by complaining about how they were home alone.
Bus ride back - 2 girls discussing about the history of Valentines, and how the history blows. Then talks about both of their boyfriends didn't celebrate valentines with them.
Swear to God, people these days :-/.
I've been dead because I've been swamped between dofus and school. After this week I'll be back to 'normal'. So boo yah.
Now on to your deck:
4 Cosmic Larvas
4 Flesh Reavers
2 Varchild's War Riders
4 Hunted Horrors
4 Lightning Greaves
2 Umezawa's Jitte
3 O-Naginata
4 Dark Rituals
4 Pyroclasm
Let's see, the notable thing here is that you have no mana-base. But I took the liberty that assuming the deck is a standard 60 card deck, so you run 21 lands (I assume). Your mana-curve looks to be rather terrible. The equipments average 3cc to cast and equip, and gives you little board manipulation.
On a note more related to the card-choices. Dross Harvester? Why? a 4/4 for 3cc seems quite nicely when you realize that you have no evasion, no prominent board control mechanics, and your opponent can easily let you kill yourself with the drawbacks. Cosmic Larva, quite honestly, I don't even know how you manage to support it's addiction with only 21 lands (again, I'm just assuming here) in your deck. At most, you are looking at probably 2 turns after it's been casted to stick around. Flesh reaver, 2cc for a 4/4 is quite good, but it has no evasion, have you ever played against goblins? Hunted horror, so let's see, 12 out of 18 of your damage sources are black, Yeah. Also there are notably lack there of of disruptions as I mentioned before. Reckless charge could easily be lightning bolt, and I don't see why not. You run 9 equipment spells to pair with your 18 creatures which seems rather ridiculous. (That's also of course, ignoring that with reckless charge, you have over 13 creature reliant spells)
What synergy? You mean the life-gaining and losing synergy? Or do you mean the lack there of like the case with hunter horror?
Or you could run disruptions. Let me explain. Burn is a bad match-up for Red death, yes. But it is not unbeatable, the point to realize is that burn is a combo-like deck. It tries to crop the hand that would allow it produce the most damage. To do so, it keeps mana-curve and damage to casting in mind. Now, with disruptions such as duress and hymn to tourach, you disrupt their hand size, putting them on top-deck mode where they have to rely on luck to crop their hand. Next, cards like sinkhole allows you change their tempo. Now, phyrexian negator isn't the card that you would want to play first off, but it is the card that can end the game by himself quickly. With enough disruption, you can steer the bullseye target away from phyrexian negator. But of course, all that doesn't apply to you since you run no disruptions.

Tree-cup: Can you share one of your mom with me? I mean, I'd like to have some free income too.
I am in a way. It's not my first intuition about fetchlands, but in mono-colored decks it seems more win-more than not. That is, except for decks that take advantage of the shuffling effect like Solidarity.
In your argument about Goblin Matron, you are looting a goblin, another threat. Where as with Fetch-land, you fetch a mountain or the dual equivilant. By the time you are capable of dropping a Goblin Ringleader, you are doing it through either hard-casting it, or through Aether vial or Goblin Lackey. In the case of Aether vial, you are already looking at at least turn5 for that effect, which, you probably would have a consistent number of land drops. On the case of Goblin Lackey, perhaps you drop it early, then you need your land drops, then I concede that perhaps fetchlands can be beneficial. And in the case of you hard-casting it, why do you need to decrease your threat density when you have already reached your desire land drops?
Agree pre-combo it help to ensure that you draw fewer lands, but the argument before was combo-ing off with a large amount of cards drawn already.
Counter argument would be that considering Goblin decks often pack around 23-24 land along with 4 aether vial, when you do play Goblin ringleader, you are putting non-goblin spells on the bottom. Which would then effectively drastically strengthen the goblin density of you game. Then should you draw a fetchland, would it not be counter the whole "I thin my deck so I don't draw more land" when in effect Goblin Ringleader may already contributes the effect more, in effect, making fetchlands a dead draw. Also, if you should say that sometimes you can draw 3+ goblins off of goblin ringleader, I'd imagine the card-advantage you gain from it would already be enough that you could win the game off of that.
On another term, I'm still working on the banner, while at the sametime i'm learning about GIMP even more, so that's interesting. Layers are fuuuun, although it baffles me that some people makes up to 40+ layers for one picture. Tree-cup I'm looking at you.
As for your SB, I'd opt for Dystopia to be included in there as it is savage against threshold.
I'll try to get the banner in soon, then I'll get more room since I'll have gotten rid of my multi-link sig, then I can actually get some quotes in for me. What else, oh, quote a few of ya here :isthatso:. Stahl is ahead though.
Fu: Congrats! I don't know the significance of that username, but I hope that's giving the finger to wizards ;).
Other than that, it was an enjoyable weekend where I got to watch the superbowl with my girlfriend. Too bad someone had to win the superbowl, I was hoping both teams would be losers since they are :D.
Well, I've been testing Red death on MWS again this morning, since my school was closed due to the weather (-10 degrees). And boy, it just keep remind me of why I love Red death, so much fun and anxiety while you play... nice and exciting. "Sinkhole again! Oh god I hope he doesn't draw a land."
