Mirror's Edge is pretty cool. The story sucks, and it's a little short (8-10 hours to play through, longer if you care about time trials and whatnot) bit it's an enjoyable 8-10 hours. Well worth $5-$10 if you can find it for that, maybe worth $20. Hard to say if it's worth buying for any more than that.
Oh sure Chris, I see how it is. You can't just let me go hiking, you have to do it too. Steal my thunder and all that. Well, I bet my hike was 10 times better than yours anyway.
If anyone is interested, I hiked up an entire mountain today, over 1,700 feet, from the ocean shore to the summit. Of course, that was net elevation gain. I would estimate the gross elevation gain at closer to 2,500 feet, thanks to numerous places where you descended on the way up or ascended on the way down. Hopefully I'll have a bunch of pretty pictures to show you guys in a day or two.
Talor, I wish I could say I read your story, but I suck, so I didn't. Keep going though.
I believe I owe you some boosters still, don't I? What's the going rate these days between booster packs and nudie pics of ex-gfs?
Three boxes by my count. I'm afraid that the exchange rate is pretty low, what with how much and how free porn is these days. Might do well as a way to pay for the interest however.
Maybe not to full status, because I don't want to commit to reading back X number of full threads or any minimum posting requirements, but I'd like to post a little more often. Oh yeah and I want "longest member" back in my sig too.
Works for me. Though full status doesn't mean you'd have to read back however many hundreds of threads or post x times a year. If you're planning on a post or three a month, that'd be plenty enough by our guidelines it seem.
Wow. Amazing how Daron can spark a lagging clan thread back to life. I wasn't around during most of this drama, so I don't have much to say. Other than that the best revenge is sharing naked pictures with everybody. (Of the girl, not the dude, obviously).
So, I got a job. Not a full time anything. Nor even a part time anything. Just a very short term contract job to build a website for a company. A few hundred dollars, a good reference, and a site to add to my portfolio. It's pretty decent.
I'm not sure I'd say I aspire to be an author. More that I leisurely flounder towards a goal that may or may not be not unlike authorship. But your point is still taken.
Sorry JJ, I didn't mean to brag. I was (and still am) just excited about how well something is finally going for me. The amount of progress I made yesterday I had expected to take 4 days, if not a week. Sorry for wanting to share some good news for once.
Over the last 4 days I have taught myself both PHP and MySQL, and have written a pretty advanced website that uses both. I'm truly amazing with how quickly I have been able to accomplish what I have done. It's good times.
This is especially good news, as I have an interview in a week to do some web design for some company. They don't need to know that most of this stuff was learned in the last month, if not the last week, right? The only problem I'm having right now is in figuring out what a good asking rate is. I've never done web design for money before, so I have no clue what the going rate is.
Amen to that brotha!! It's so stupid the way they justify charging you for being overdrawn or missing a payment. If I don't have enough moeny to cover the bill....is it smart for you to charge me more? You're just making me further behind when it comes to paying next time.
See, when you stop there, your reasoning makes it seem like a bad idea. You have to go one more step. "Now that you're further behind and won't be able to pay next time, we get to charge you again! This is brilliant!"
I ran into the problem of liking my story, which made it hard to write words without caring about the quality, which is necessary if you are going to reach 50,000 words. I only got 20,781 words down, which you can read on my website if you're interested. I'm working on finishing the novel still, at a more leisurely pace. I'm planning on having the first draft finished by the end of January (maybe by the end of February if I get too distracted by learning the ins and outs of php or somehow manage employment).

I'm currently working my way through the entire list of Hugo award winners, and much happier for it.

Anyone who likes sci-fi MUST read The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. A better sci-fi book there is not.
