They are not "legally required to" if the accomodation causes the employer and "undue hardship". According to the EEOC, an "undue hardship" Is anything that incurs more than ordinary administrative costs (this case admittedly doesn't), diminishes efficiency in other job's (I'd argue it does), or causes the coworker to carry the share of potentially burdensome work (I'd definately argue that it does)

So if we are going by the law, then the air line legally fired the worker. Did they handle it the best way? Perhaps not. But that does not mean that they were not obliged and allowed to fire her.

There are people in the workforce that have the ability to fulfill all aspects of this job. Why should a company accommodate someone who is not willing to? How far is too far when it comes to accomodation? When someone isnt able to do their job I believe the accomodation has gone too far.

I think the company is 100% justified in firing her and in fact I don't see why that's even a question. A large part of a flight attendant's job is to serve alcohol. Why should a company accommodate for the religious beliefs of one employee when they can simply find someone else that is more than willing to serve alcohol as a flight attendant?

I mean, she is justified in saying that the company disciplinary methods were not handled very efficiently. But the fact of the matter is, if you don't want to do your whole job, then you get fired from that job. I really don't see the argument for this.

It's as if I had a job where a major tenet was I had to work on Sundays, then I tell the company I can't work on Sundays. Logic.

LOL if only my dreams were that normal....

I had a dream where I was at the zoo and the orangutans looked more like Bigfoot and they attacked me. It was really uncomfortable...

  • posted a message on Quit League of Legends or Continue Playing?
I quit the game for similar reasons two years ago, haven't looked back at it since.

The game has a learning curve, which would be fine if the community allowed players to adapt to the game, which they absolutely do not. Have one bad game and their telling you to uninstall the game. One game it just reached a point where I said "I'm done."

As I said, I haven't played the game since, and I have no real desire to ever get back in to it.

That's good to hear. Everybody has certain periods of negativity, where varying outside forces can negatively influence a healthy mind. Progress is always a good sign, and I hope you can reach a point where you can confidently say that it isn't an issue anymore. Smile

  • posted a message on The historicity of Jesus Christ?
Recently I've been extremely interested in the historicity of Jesus Christ, the historical value of the Gospels, non-canonical Gospels, etc.

My question for all followers of Christ is, do you believe that the Gospels are historical documents?

My only problem with modern understanding of Jesus Christ and his life is that the only information we have regarding this subject is heavily biased as it is almost entirely written by Christians. Did Jesus exist at all?

    The Unforgiving Wind

    A stiff and unforgiving wind,
blew through the meadow with a roar.
And swept the earth beneath it’s feet
    while tearing through the greenery.

I stood erect, intent on grit.
    To face the unforgiving wind.
Its force could not have hold on me,
I would not yield, I would not yield.

The wind however did not cease,
    and gradually it weakened me.
    Reluctantly, I have to quit.
    My body simply must submit.

And get swept by the unforgiving wind.

If you're looking for something really different, i'd recommend Karn, Silver Golem. He's colorless, but his ability has so much potential with different combos, and when built with ramp in mind he can be explosively fast.

I have a similar issue to you, and theres a method you can use to lessen the severity and duration of negative thinking. It's called the mental remote.

Basically, you need to set a time during the evening (make sure you aren't busy e.g. after work and errands). Like 8-8:30. Then whenever you are about think negative thoughts, you halt your thinking, like pressing pause on a mental remote.

Tell yourself that you'll deal with these thoughts at your scheduled time. It's like pressing pause, then pressing play when you have time to deal with the thoughts. When your time is up, press pause again and deal with it when your scheduled time comes up again.

If you remain consistent with this method you'll notice you'll need less and less time to deal with your negative thoughts because you'll have less. Also, try to use a phrase you can repeat to yourself, something like "I can do this. I believe in myself." If you contiue to say this in your head, you'll start to truly believe it.

I hope these work for you, and you can become a happier and more positive person. Smile

I played in BC and all throughout Wrath, quit before Cata then picked it back up, played during Cata for a little bit then quit again. Picked it up again for 2 months during Mists, god what a horrible expansion that was.

I haven't played this new expansion at all, though it admittedly looks a lot more promising than Mists ever did. A friend of mine has said some good things, though I think I'm done with wow for good.

Didn't really play in Vanilla, but I can tell you that the game has become much more beginner friendly, which can be both good and bad. For new players, the game is a lot more accessible. For existing players, at least me personally, it made me feel like the work I put in to the game could be replicated by a newer player in much less time and with much less effort, which was a tad irritating.

The game is starting to show it's age, and the new content just doesn't seem as original or fun to me. Imo, WotLK was the last truly great expansion for World of Warcraft. Cataclysm was pretty abysmal, as was Mists. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but the game is no where near what it was 5+ years ago.
