If you both had actually read the whole thread you probably wouldn't have made these comments. He's trying to build a deck for nationals just after 9 becomes legal. There are various countries which have nationals with 9th and not 8th you know. In this sense it doesn't matter that mirrodin is leaving soon as he is trying to build a deck for a tournament now and not later.

Quoted for truthery, gotta love the irony when someone posts "should've read the thread" and then this happens...

I don't understand how Foul Imp is a crap card. Its a 2/2 flyer in black for :symb::symb: I'm saying the Grimclaw Bats are worse, just that I would rather have my mana available to pay equip costs, and cast spells I draw.

I doubt the Droplets ability versus red decks. I would much rather have the 4 Terror available in the Ponza match-up myself. For Flores Red, I'd probably just side in the Extractions and take them out that way. You'll already be hurting hem with the your discard as is. Persecute, now that I think of it, would probably be even better and serves a purpose in any MUC matches as well. Yes, Maindeck swords would make it difficult for Flores to remove your men. and Persecute from the board could wipe out their hand easily.

Edit: Changes I would suggest to decklist

    4 Foul Imp (9th)
    4 Nezumi Cutthroat
    4 Ravenous Rats

    4 Chittering Rats
    4 Hypnotic Specter (9th)
    4 Viridian Shaman

    3 Nekrataal

    3 Chrome Mox
4 Sword of Fire and Ice
    3 Umezawa's Jitte

    15 Swamp
    4 Llanowar Wastes (9th)
    2 Tendo Ice Bridge
1 Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers
    1 Shizo, Death's Storehouse

    SB:
    3 Cranial Extraction
    2 Echoing Decay
    3 Persecute
    3 Pithing Needle
    4 Terror

This may not be what your shooting for, but its alot quicker at finishing off an opponent. It now has twelve evasion creatures to run with the Swords I've added. I've also ditched the Rats/Collector/Vial trick. Although it is very difficult for your opponents, I think getting out a Specter turn 2 is a bit more impressive. I also removed Ink-Eyes as well, even though I added Okina. I wanted to ensure I was able to play the now 4 Shaman, and felt Okina was better than a third Bridge, and superior to a basic forest.

I like what Bogan has done with the deck. I tried something like this before Saviors using Hammer of Bogardan in the place of Barrel Down Sokenzan. It server to be a difficult card for MUC to handle unless they could Hinder it. One card I suggest you try is Journeyer's Kite. Repaeted use of the Kite will improve your draws, shuffle for the Top, and provide you a land to throw at your opponent for 3 mana each turn.

Have you tried Sword of Fire and Ice? I haven't played with/against this deck but I feel it would be pretty strong. You have eight creatures with evasion that will go nuts with a Sword attached. I myself prefer the Sword over the Jitte. What I would try is 3 Swords cutting either a Jitte or a Skull Collector.

I also don't understand the Sun Droplets in the board. I would cut them for +1 Terror, +1 Shaman, and maybe +1 Extraction.

I feel that 9th is pretty disappointing. Some cards are nice to have back, but there is not enough goods coming in to get me excited. I know Wizards can make a really good base set that I'd buy, it just doesn't seem like it'll happen with those currently running R&D.

hmm...well, I really hope that Web is down-graded to common or uncommon. If it stays as a rare, ugh! I would have given up the all rare slots taken by Emperor Crocodile, Maro, Utopia Tree, and Verduran Enchantress just to see Argothian Wurm.

All ten painlands...that is fantastic. I have no idea what the RAV duals are but these is jsut excellent. I really was hoping for some better equip, the war hammer just doesn't do it for me.

Seething Song puts a smile on my face with Wildfire. I was just really wishing they'd reprint Arc Lightning, Pillage, and Slith Firewalker. Ah well, at least I got my Rathi Dragons and Shard Phoenix recently.

Nice...very nice. Personally, the only problem I see is that blue lost Unsummon which I believe should've stayed in the core set. Just think how much players will miss Inspiration and Concentrate...yep, its unholy retribution. I think that as far as competitive Type 2 goes, this is welcomed (at least from me). The way I see it, until we get Duress and Incinerate (god forbid Lightning Bolt) back, blue need not moan and groan so much.

Why is it that blue is always claimed as being raped? My favorite colors lost its high quality burn before Counterspell was axed, Pillage costs at least four mana now, not to mention our favorite :symr::symr::symr: creature is nowhere to be seen lately. Red has adjusted, blue will just have to understand you can't leave you mana untapped every turn for a counter. I don't Smile

you can't Shift a Persecute, ever.

If I'm able to go I'd be running G/B aggro. It's my addiction to Sword of Fire & Ice and hard to block 2 drops (MD Dryads and Cutthroats). But...work sucks.

Th problem with that is the casting cost. This deck wants to play Slith Firewalker on first or second turn. The deck leans mostly towards red with all the black spells only having one black mana in the mana cost. Also, I tried out the Skull Collector idea but it was very inconsistent.
