Feb 3, 2014Techn0range posted a message on Launch Giveaway!I think one of my favorite cards is Cloudgoat Ranger. I've done extremely well with it in the past, both limited and constructed play. I have also made it a rule to first pick it in any cube draft, even over P9 cards.Posted in: Announcements

I was merely responding to another's post that I have, in fact, seen it happen. You don't have to believe me or the person actually did it. I can, however, do without the name calling, so thanks.
Back on topic, they have done promo tokens before, just look at Marit Lage. Innistrad had the wolf token, but that was also the same from packs. I would like for WotC to do more of the promo tokens similar to the double sided Human/Wolf token using the old "foil" symbol instead of the set symbol. Alternate art would be acceptable as well. I guess just something distinguishable from the regular pack inserted tokens.
I haven't really played much with this deck other than the 5 round FNM and a couple of practice games. I don't feel that the Angel of Glory is inefficient because the cards you play let you go to the longer games. Furthermore, I left my Angel vs a WW deck because he was also playing cards like Serra Avenger and I wanted more outs vs his flyers. Don't like it as a beater, then be defensive blocking their angels, thragtusk, wurms, etc. I guess it's all just situational circumstances.
I also wanted to post that Dylan Brown placed 45th @ SCG Cincinnati Open:
3 Angel of Glory's Rise
2 Arbor Elf

4 Abrupt Decay
2 Garruk Relentless
1 Vraska the Unseen
2 Sever the Bloodline
I was thinking about switching out the Caverns for utility lands, either Gavony, Vault, or Wolf Run. Do you guys feel it would be worth it, and if so which ones?
This is what I played:
4 Borderland Ranger
3 Falkenrath Aristocrat
4 Fiend Hunter
4 Huntmaster of the Fells
1 Kessig Malcontents
3 Angel of Glory's Rise
4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
Instant/Sorcery: 14
4 Faithless Looting

3 Woodland Cemetery
2 Cavern of Souls
4 Restoration Angel
4 Thragtusk
2 Zealous Conscripts
1 Sigarda, Host of Herons
2 Golgari Charm
2 Rakdos Charm
Deathrite Shaman and Rest in Peace are the only cards that worry me. I mean there's a few others, but they are single target cards. I know we transition sb but Angel of Glory still a 4/6 beater. I didn't have a lot of shocklands, so I had to mess around with mana base (seemed ok to me).
I was also contemplating the same situation go infinite Aristocrat get blocked. I wasn't able to do it yet, but there was the "stack Fiend Hunter entering play trigger, sac to Aristocrat remove your guy permanently" play lol. I would like to test the Lambholt as well. What do you think about 1-2 Rogue's Passage? Otherwise you could trample over with a Kessig's Wolf Run or Rancor.
I have seen a person enter FNM with the Elemental Precon deck and win. It was about +30 people too. When he got to the finals, he offered to split because it was so late. His opponent's reply was "Dude you're playing a Precon, let's play." So they played and he lost lol.
I don't play the deck, but we have enough variations at our store that I can tell you what I've seen.
Against delver I've seen pristine talisman for life gain and tumble magnets to slow them down till you get set up/have an answer. Against aggro stall until you find your board wipe, then stick something for beats and life gain (wurmcoil/batterskull). SB spellskite/ratchet bomb also help.
I played a version similar to this at my FNM, went 3-1-1 and lost in top 8. I ran slagstorm in my version. The deck is really fun to play. Aside from just casting creatures and attacking, I did combo out about 3-4 times. I need to fix my lands, as there were times I would just play tapped lands. I only got flooded once, with 14 lands in play AND 3 guilded lotus yikes. Highlight included combo out stealing all permanents, including champion of lambholt and attacking for one million, lol.
2 Cavern of Souls
4 Copperline Gorge
5 Forest
4 Glimmerpost
2 Inkmoth Nexus
1 Kessig Wolf Run
3 Mountain
4 Rootbound Crag
2 Hound of Griselbrand
3 Huntmaster of the Fells
2 Phyrexian Metamorph
4 Primeval Titan
4 Solemn Simulacrum
2 Thragtusk
2 Green Sun's Zenith
2 Pillar of Flame
4 Rampant Growth
4 Slagstorm
4 Sphere of the Suns
1 Acidic Slime
1 Ancient Grudge
1 Beast Within
2 Blasphemous Act
1 Cavern of Souls
2 Combust
1 Crushing Vines
1 Karn Liberated
1 Kessig Wolf Run
2 Surgical Extraction
1 Wurmcoil Engine
1 Zealous Conscripts
First off, the Hound of Griselbrand are a new addition, suggested by a friend that usually plays R/G Aggro. This guy combined with Wolf Run can add up a lot of damage real quick. His undying adds flavor making him bigger and as a bonus you can Slagstorm and he'll come right back into play. If you're not to keen on trying him out, then I'd suggest 4th Huntmaster of the Fells/Wurmcoil Engine or maybe two Inferno Titan.
Next, I'd like to talk about the Phyrexian Metamorph. This card started out like the Hound of Griselbrand, testing to see it's capabilities. You'll notice in Wolf Run decks, you tend to gain some amount of life via Glimmerpost, Huntmaster of the Fells, etc. Therefore, paying 2 life, most of the time, isn't that big of a deal. Besides, if you're not playing against counterspells, you can just name Shapeshifter with Cavern of Souls.
It of course has a downside, being an artifact type in addition, and there's a lot of removal for artifacts nowadays. But the upside of copying another creature or artfiact can be quite huge. For example, I've had my turn 4 Primeval Titan get Vapor Snag, but being able to recast it AND copy it is quite ridiculous. How about copying Thragtusk? I've even copied my opponent's things, such as Angel of Restoration, Wurmcoil Engine, Birthing Pod, Blade Splicer, etc.
I really prefer the Pillar of Flames over Galvanic Blast. The exile is immensely helpful against undying and other graveyard triggers.
I've had Bonfire of the Damned in here previously but it got edged out for Green Sun's Zenith once Thragtusk came out.
The rest of the deck seems pretty standard. My sideboard always seems to be changing as well. Blasphemous Act is new for me, but is helpful when my opponent just clogs up the board. I also find it useful for things that are hard for Wolf Run to deal with, such as hexproof creatures, Wolfir Silverheart, or just anything out of Slagstorm range. I am wondering if I should just move that SB Cavern of Souls to the main deck, then I have room for something else.
Also, M13 has that league thing going with the (promo) goblin token. Well, it's been said the next one will have a Knight token. Just adding to the token copy discussion...
The files you download are in Rar archive format. After you open, the pictures are in a folder of the set and you get the full card image. You can't have the old image and these full card images in the same folder, so either move or delete them for the new ones.
hope this helps...
I've thought about this back in May. I also got laughed at because it's a multi-card combo but whatever.
Captain of the Mists or Midnight Guard -> Dual Casting
Priest of Urabrask -> Cackling Counterpart
With Captain or Guard enchanted by Dual Casting, play (or already have in play) Priest. Copy Priest with Counterpart and copy Counterpart with Dual Casting.
After the copy Counterpart resolves, you get a token Priest, RRR mana, and an untapped Captain or Guard. Using one of the floating R mana, copy Counterpart again before the original one resolves.
Then simply repeat netting infinite Priest and infinite Red mana. And since Counterpart is instant, you can also do this during your opponent's End Step.
