i don't think RtD will be bad just because it costs 5. it's still good, for the same reasons, just comes out 1 turn later.
I've been looking at the spoiler a bit, and, just throwing out a random suggestion, what about Tendo's Ice Bridge? it can tap for U or G when it comes out, and during early game that can be important. Sure, it changes to colorless, but there are still many uses for colorless mana. I thought this card "meh" at best, but i learned that it is not legendary, and also, you can bounce it with meloku. That means that meloku's "downside" can also be a good thing, because you can play the bridge again with the charge counter.
EDIT: forgot to say, the Ice Bridge can also tap for B or R for extraction or blood moon.
So that 3U return all artifacts to their owners hands was fake, or something? there's STILL a problem with the spoiler, mods, because Sway the Stars isn't the art. bounce thing, it's the shaharazad thing.
exams = over. w00t.
....yeah.
although i have no authority to say this, welcome back, P.
@JT i likes teh card. and teh banner. it reminds me to play more Gamecube.
So, with all the new cards in betrayers, this seems like it could actually be a pretty good block deck.
Quote from me, in the thread in the rumor mill »
i've actually been thinking of a deck like this for block. i'm not sure about the cohort, really. it might be good, i guess. before seeing lot of new cards, i had a decklist something like this:
4 frostling
4 akki avalanchers
4 cunning bandit (not sure about this, really. could change to cohort. or something else.)
3 Kumano
2 Zo-zu
4 Blazing shoal (could change to 3)
4 Lava Spike (Instead of stone rain because it's arcane, so you can splice glacial ray and Torrent of Stone)
4 Glacial Ray
4 Crack the Earth
4 Torrent of stone
1 Myojin of Infinite Rage (:D)
4 Genju of the Spires
3 God's Eye, Gate to the Rekai (great with crack the earth)
15 mountain
The torrent of Stone could be moved to SB, i guess, and Lava Spike could be stone rain, if there's a more controllish metagame. More myojins could be in the SB, too, because they're so cool anyway, it'd be good to fit akki raider in, probably instead of Cunning bandit, unless we run goblin cohort, in which case it could be in instead of torrent of stone.
So, what do you think? sounds good? or another useless, worthless archetype?
i might be and probably am missing something, but isn't Tendo's Ice bridge not only strictly worse than Mirrodin's Core, and legendary?
actually, now that i think about, the ice bridge comes with a charge counter on it when you play it, but you can't get any more of them. AND it's legendary. i'm not sure... whatever, it makes sense i guess. you get a color the first time, or one time, that you play it, and after that it's only colorless. interesting.
i've actually been thinking of a deck like this for block. it's a block deck, so it doesn't need hearth kami

woohoo, this is great. Thanks, Cok_Spoiler! there's a few good cards in there, IMO. i've been thinking of playing mono red in block, it seems like there's some good cards in there for that deck. none for UG control yet tho
2-hour delay. so close.
see, yesterday, DURING EXAMS, it snowed like 2-3 inches. for Maryland, that's a lot. enough to cancel school. but it was too late in the day, so we had to stay. and of course, they plowed it all overnight. but we still somehow have a 2-hour delay. Go efficient snow-plowing systems
JT, i might try making it on the weekend, but i dunno how good i am at it. i'll give it a try, if you want, but i can't promise anything.
@Will: sorry your sick, that sucks did you get a flu shot way back in october? get one next year as for your exams, at least you have more time to study and look at the new BoK cards.
Hi. and you're right, will hasn't been here for ages since... yesterday. maybe he's doing something else today. dunno. anyway, glad you're posting here sometimes.
not that i went 0-3, just that every loss was to affinity. i beat affinity, too. there was a surprising amount of affinity. admittedly, i wasn't prepared enough. not enough artifact hate. but that's not the point.
What i was saying about Meloku is that a lot of times he seems like not a win condition but a stall option until you can draw Rude. sometimes, however, if they have echoing decay, you can't expect to win with just rude. sure, you've got counters, but they may also have hideous laughter. i see your point though. perhaps i was getting to overexcited about keiga due to it's excellent performance with me. i haven't done any testing with keiga; most testing has been with 2-3 rude, 2 meloku. I should also point out that I run bribery too, against T&N.
As to countermagic, i'm not sure, really, what to do. there are seven slots for counters, in my build at least, but i could fit in eight. right now i'm thinking of 4 hinder, 2 condescend, 2 leak. hinders are really good, especially against control as whatever you counter can't be witnessed back. 3 hinder and 3 leak might be beter though.
Now with people saying how important it is to throw a wrench in the early game then possibly we need to go back to the right countermagic numbers, I think most of us are running mana leak and hinder, but condescend seems to be gaining stock.
I agree, i've gone to 4 hinder and 3 condescend for now, and it's been pretty good for me. also, what does everyone think about 1 keiga in the main, perhaps as a fifth win condition, or instead of 1 meloku. in the JSS yesterday, i went 3-3, losing 3 rounds to affinity. my friend told me to add one keiga in the main, right before the tournament. it worked great, i won most of my games with keiga, including the one where it was control vs. control and there were 5 min left in the round. i barely cast meloku at all, it didn't help all that much.

Will: that card looks good
...as to the contest, can we use this card for a "general" card or something, or is it not allowed? a bit controversial:
What i was saying about Meloku is that a lot of times he seems like not a win condition but a stall option until you can draw Rude. sometimes, however, if they have echoing decay, you can't expect to win with just rude. sure, you've got counters, but they may also have hideous laughter. i see your point though. perhaps i was getting to overexcited about keiga due to it's excellent performance with me. i haven't done any testing with keiga; most testing has been with 2-3 rude, 2 meloku.
