We Are Legion, as a person who makes his living buying and selling magic cards and trading over multiple channels of distribution, excuse me for taking this rather personally; I could go outside all I want, but my life, job, and well-being will be waiting for me back on my laptop.
I should have been more specific because I wasn't talking about business or e-business (which is a productive use of the internet). I was talking about the aspects of the internet that are leisurely. Sure, these forums are fun to read but they shouldn't have that much of an impact on us. Voicing opinions is great, but going on an internet crusade to overthrow power tripping mods is a waste of everyone's time.
If Atikin wanted to, couldn't he just post the PM conversations to defend himself or is that against the rules?
People need to calm down and mind their own business. Turning off the computer and going outside once in a while helps put the internet in perspective.
Gold Sarcophagus was $4,000, and they reprinted it? That's worse than reprinting Black Lotus!
But I just wanted to note that here in Canada, I don't notice any mass market stores like Wal-Mart or Target selling Magic: the Gathering. It's only in gaming stores, comic book stores, and sports card stores. But Yu-Gi-Oh can be found in drug stores and department stores. So apparently it must be more popular, at least here.
This says more about Canada being a Bizarro version of the US than anything else. just kidding. I love Canada; it has much better strip clubs.
Seriously though, I think all the talk of yugioh going away is overblown. Look at the Pokemon card game; it has sales that are much worse than yugioh and is still around. Cards are cheap to make so things would have to get really bad before they stopped selling them.
1) Yu-gi is targeted at a younger audience
2) it's cheaper and more accessible
3) Its not overly complicated like magic and the card base is much smaller
i think that should be a pretty good indicator as to why it's more popular than magic.
However, i think the natural progression is from Yu-gi to magic , as kids mature. Well for those who are still looking to retain a ccg hobby as they get older.
What?
It is much more expensive than Magic. I'm not even talking about singles; the packs cost more and come with less cards.
Also, the card base is gigantic; they have been printing cards for about 10 years and none of them rotate out EVER. The only time a card can't be played is if it is banned or restricted.
Baneslayer requires a much larger commitment to the board and is far less agile than Exalted. On the same turn you hardcast a Baneslayer, you can morph an exalted *and* protect it with slide *and* shock something with Lightning Rift. And that, as they say, is Tech - something that Baneslayer doesn't have.
Also, it already has pro dragons and demons because A) Most of them are totally unplayable B) it has first strike and C) if they come out faster than this does, it will not meet one in straight up combat.
Is my math wrong?
Baneslayer costs 5.
Morphing Exalted costs 4, Cycling at the time cost 2, Lightning Rift activation costs 1. That's 7.
Unless you are morphing at EoT or something. And that doesn't count actually casting the enchantments beforehand.
I'm stuck in a bit of a rut in my life at the moment and was hoping his comeback would inspire me and now i feel just so desolate.
Not trying to be mean, but... really? Some guy doing a bunch of concerts was going to inspire you to do better in life?
I think your first problem is looking to something like that for inspiration.
Even if he had made a comeback (not that he was really gone), I doubt it would have affected your life in a positive way except for having more music to listen to. You can do better than that when it comes to inspiration.
It looks like a jank rare that might be reasonably good in limited if only for the 5 to cast 4/4 First strike. The ability is pretty meaningless since if they are running red or black, can't remove or block it, they are going to die to the damage ANYWAY.
This is the problem with the card. It is a decent card but seems like it would be a "win more" card against black and red decks. If it had protection from black and red it would be off the chain.
only *** (obv) and troll ascetic ( my love for !@#k up all blu based deck, but anyway blue win raped in this set)
I'm not sure what language you're speaking but I think you said something about blue not being good or maybe being too good. Not sure.
Anyway
What's up with Terror being gone? I want to see some instant speed black removal for 2 mana, maybe even without the restriction on black and artifact creatures.
It was sad enough to witness the circus his life became, it's heartbreaking to see that his death will suffer the same fate.
Heartbreaking? You've been watching too much Lifetime, We, and Oxygen.
He was a multi-millionaire and world famous. He had a great life and didn't even die that young. I'm sure all the rumors, controversy, and personal problems hurt him but he is gone now and our opinions can't hurt him anymore.
If there is some sort of tabloid hurricane that accuses him of horrible things, he isn't around to care about it anyway.
Don't cry for him; he doesn't need it even though his family might.
How is the yugioh scene after they called off the official events for the year. IIRC, that was the reason WotC invited the yugioh players to the magic event.
Did anyone really care? When are they starting up sanctioned play again?
What is WotC's policy for massive leaks like this? Will they just not comment, act like nothing happened, and still post their planned spoilers as if we didn't see most of it coming?
because the soul has a spiritual conotation and they want to get away from religious values to bring in more people. same reason why wrath of god isn't in. because it implies that there is a monotheistic god.
demons and angels get to stay in because they've become more of a cultural thing of late in games like these.
-on counterspell....i'm so glad its gone lol.
Dude, you are one of those that reads WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much into things like this. Remove Soul always sounded like a black creature destruction spell, not a blue counterspell. *** isn't in because a 4cc mass creature destruction spell isn't something R&D wanted in the game currently. They aren't going to reprint *** with a different name at 4cc unless it has some sort of different effect. They stopped pandering to the religious right a while ago; where have you been?
Anyway, I'm disappointed at the name change because I was planning on getting a textless set of Remove Soul. Oh well, at least it makes more sense flavor-wise.
Looking at the spoiler, white and green have the MOST new cards.
This is really interesting, of course.
Yeah, I noticed this too. I think it is because in the past these were the 2 worst colors so there wasn't much to pick from to reprint. Should be interesting to see what direction they take the new cards. More stuff in White's section of the pie like Harm's Way would be great.

I suspected that was the case.

And yes, this type of smilie would probably be the most used on the forum.
P.S. This is for your opponent trying to kill the Armorsmith in case that wasn't obvious enough.
