As has been pointed out, right now it's readily available for MSRP. I'd hold onto it and make the decision in a year or so (I mean, I'm going to hold on to mine because that's what I do with Magic cards - I keep them, but I can certainly see the circumstances under which I'd decide to sell it).
Just curious but is the Sliver deck going for anything above MSRP? It doesn't seem like it since eBay sellers are selling it around that price.
Given that it releases today, I think it's too early to make that call. Check back in a week or so when we'll probably say "no", a month or so when we'll probably say "yeah, a little," and this time next year when we'll be saying "duh, of course."
Well, 'Demonic' is quite a general term for anything evil or sinister. The changelings-containing Sliver deck is worse, but still, the shapeshifters are, in a way, Slivers. But this deck's called "The Coalition". Including any cards that had nothing in common with the organization or even the plane it was on would be just stupid. Just like including for example Moriok Rigger in the Phyrexian deck. No matter how it would fit in there, it's not of Phyrexian origin..
I'll give you that they oughtn't include stuff that's clearly from Alara or Ravnica, but I think that generics like Prismatic Omen or Vivid lands can find their way into the deck even without new art. Don't get me wrong - I would absolutely love to see them get new, Coalition-themed art, and I think that it would be the right move for WOTC to make. I'm just not holding my breath.

I really don't. I like the art, as the subject is clearly under duress, but it doesn't seem particularly demonic to me. Especially with the quote from Vess. She's not a demon, even if she does hang out with them in the locker room. Demonic, to me, has to have a slightly grander scope than just nasty or brutal. I would not consider most of the black kill spells demonic, even though they're doing horrible things to the subjects. If there'd been an actual demon in the art, torturing the sad little elf, that'd be different.
I don't know... I still don't think Wizards will include cards that have nothing in common with Urza, his Coalition, or even Dominaria. Last Stand and Coalition Victory make sense, but Prismatic Omen, Transguild Courier or Fusion Elemental, no matter how well they'd work with the domain deck, do not. That is, unless they reprint them with new, Dominaria-related artworks. Then anything would be possible.
I dunno, Duress wasn't terribly Demonic, nor did it have Demonic artwork, and yet it was in the DvD Duel Deck. I think they're fine putting in cards that aren't directly storyline related but make the decks work. I mean, look at the Sliver deck that we get on Friday!

From the way the negatives are set up, I'm sticking with "il".
The words glimpse makes me fond of ravinca, so screw the first paragraph i don't need those awesome memories before work.
The Second paragraph one i think refers to the En-Kor and then the Il-Kor (the nomads and the traitors)
The third one refers to the En-kor lancers, which according to mtgsWiki any en-kor twins were always trained as lancers.
The fourth one focuses on Jamura and i don't know it. so my blind shot from what i know about the kor and happenings with rath.

Kind of disappointed by the article. His reasoning is all solid as far as it goes (and I think starting from Crystalline Sliver and working back makes sense), but he leaves out Spectral Sliver vs. Barbed Sliver (which has a problem exactly like the other ones he identifies in the article) and doesn't address the kind of bizarre choices for non-Sliver rares.
I think that he ended up making a lot of choices assuming that you drew one of two cards (Crystalline Sliver or Homing Sliver), and while being unable to target your own dudes when a Crystalline is on the board is a bit of a disappointment, I think that Ken dwells on it a bit much. By that logic, he should've included the Harmonic Sliver, because then he'd be unable to blow up his own Metallic Slivers.
Oh well. It is what it is for the reasons it is. Come on, Premium Deck Series: Thallids!
I have to agree. I wouldn't mind one rare land in the pack, if only it wasn't this one. Hell, the could include Thran Quarry or so...
While I certainly agree that Rootbound Crag seems a bit random, and a 5-land would've made a lot more sense, I'm really happy to see them putting an actually valuable card in here. The Crag is a good card, not just a good card in certain decks, and while Ken Nagle says that he left out a bunch of a good Slivers because they targeted, and there was a Crystalline in the deck, I'm happy to see them putting good cards in a deck that people are going to tear apart anyway. I know I could use a Crag much more than any of 5-land.
i dont understand why might sliver makes your slivers poor....is it because it is a SBE? also wild pair lets you search for a creature with TOTAL power AND toughness, so if a 1/1 gets the +2/+2 bonus making him a 3/3, is that still not good to go search for a 3/3 sliver?
The problem is that there are only 2 3/3 slivers in the deck. Most of them are 1/1 or 2/2.
I don't know that it's a huge problem, because Might Sliver's a rare occurrence, and if you have it out you're winning anyway.
So, I am thinking of picking a second pack as an investment.
Despite the average card selection, I believe its price will double within a month.

It's a speculative investment. If we *knew* that it would increase in price, we'd all buy as many as we could possibly afford.
I agree that it is *likely* to be a good investment. I doubt that it'll double within a month, but I believe that it'll certainly go up, scarcity and Slivers being what they are.
Fischer's art at least LOOKS like a Coat of Arms. Gregory's art wins the prize of "Jeez this is bland and has nothing to do with the card."
Coat of Arms for slivers could be a sweet alternate art, though.
Actually, going back and looking at the card, I seem to have remembered it as a bit more elaborate than it actually is. I mean, she does have a coat of arms on her shield, but I guess I thought that it was more the focus of the piece.
In addition to Magic the Gathering's numerous novels, Wizards of the Coast have released several webcomics telling short stories about the planeswalkers. The comics come in trilogies:
* Three based on Chandra and Jace
* Six based on Garruk and Liliana
* Three based on Ajani and Sarkan Vol
* Three based on Tezzeret and Nicol Bolas.
* Three based on Elspeth Tirel.
Edit: These are just the comics and not the novels, so my reasoning was wrong.
Ah. Ajani meets Sarkan, and they have a little chat. That's about it for them. I forget the plot for Seeker's Fall, but it involves Tezz, and Nicol Bolas is just pulling strings in the background like he always does. No actual fighting (Planeswalker duels, anyway) in either.
I will publically denounce anybody buying this. In fact, I might just make it a public event with punch and pie.
I'm having mine mailed to me, but if you want to show up to my FLGS and denounce me, that's cool. Let me know when, and I'll show up and buy it then. Or, if you're close enough, I could show up and open my mail whenever you're having this event.
I'm definitely going to take it apart and use it for parts, and I don't think that it's that bad as a parts collection, they just made a few poor choices.
I hope that they use the DA Gregory art for Coat of Arms. As much as I love the Fish, his Coat has been overexposed of late.
I know that it's an absurdly bad card, but I think that my favorite card is still Gabriel Angelfire. I remember when I first got one for my GW deck, before it was reprinted in Chronicles. I had a choice - for $17 I could get either Gabriel or the Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale. I was advised by the store owner to get the Tabernacle, and I kind of wish I'd followed that advice now, but I bought Gabriel and shuffled him into my 65 (60 card deck? What's that?). I don't know that I drew him in more than a handful of games, but I really liked playing with a Legend.
