I know that this was ages ago, but I couldn't resist a little bragging. My city has been especially lucky this World Cup, and I got to watch France-Switzerland, Netherlands-Spain, and Germany-Portugal from the stands. It's been the kind of month my grandchildren will hear about.
On another note, I was devastated about Mexico yesterday. They're dominating the game, up 1-0... and then decide to start playing defence and let the Netherlands do what they do best, from freaking 60' onwards. Come on, Herrera, how can you be this dumb and this coward? Man!
I'm still rooting for all teams from the Americas to get as far as possible, either way. Go Argentina and USA tomorrow! I'll try to get ahold of a last-minute ticket for the USA match.
Anyway, today was a great day. Japan-Greece just ended, and even though it was a goalless draw, it was still quite fun to watch, with some amazing saves by both goalies. Japan kept attacking and attacking, but the outnumbered Greeks managed to hold the fort until the end (hmmm, I feel like I've read this story before). Nothing like Uruguay-England or Colombia-Ivory Coast, but still exciting.
I'm cheering for my fellow South Americans, won't deny.
This will push the WB aggro archetype over the top in block constructed, which usually means great things for the deck in question in future Standard.
Again, you misunderstand me. If you specifically separate them in your search, of course they're going to show up separated.
What I meant is that weekly charts are displayed in the following manner:
1. 3DS LL – 26,484 (32,393)
2. PlayStation Vita – 21,498 (24,755)
3. PlayStation 3 – 13,360 (13,243)
4. 3DS – 11,745 (15,045)
5. Wii U – 8,490 (11,443)
6. PSP – 3,428 (4,024)
7. PlayStation Vita TV – 1,792 (2,208)
8. Xbox 360 – 260 (273)
That's this week's Japanese console sales, by the way. A general chart for video gaming devices, and note how there's no "handheld" and "home console" separation. Furthermore, take a look at this week's Japanese charts for individual games sales:

My point, in case it's not obvious, is that it makes no sense to alienate home console sales from handheld ones, as if they were two completely different kinds of products, as some posters were suggesting. They all coexist in a single video gaming market which affects all of them simultaneously.
I think the crux of the argument here is that the 3DS (and dedicated handheld gaming devices as a whole) is absolutely NOT a platform thought mainly for quick-play games, like mobile phones or tablets. There are several home console-quality releases in the system that take dozens of hours to complete fully, like Fire Emblem: Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
Furthermore, 3DS consoles, accessories and games fight for shelf space with the actual home console games in pretty much every single store I go to. It's not like they have a separate "handheld gaming" section, because that wouldn't really make sense - it's all dedicated video gaming.
When talking about sales, by the way, every single game site I visit, presents unified charts - there isn't a separate sales chart for handheld gaming.
So again, I really don't see why you think we can't include a console like the 3DS (and the Vita, for that matter) in a discussion about sales for dedicated gaming devices.
On bundles, well, both other consoles had a lot of bundles as well, including a GTA V bundle for the PS3. So I don't see a point here.
Seriously, there are many angles one can take to point out failures on the Wii. I know I have a lot of complaints about it, including the abundance of minigame collections and forced waggle controls in games like Donkey Kong Country Returns. But really, number of games sold isn't one of those angles, not by a large margin.
1) Where's the comprehensive data for "time spent playing"? Unless you're merely using anecdotal data to back that claim up, which doesn't really work.
2) The Wii was a failure in number of games sold? Have you even seen any "best selling games" chart for the last generation? Here's Wikipedia's top-selling list (5 million plus copies) for each home console, which should speak for itself:
Wii:
1. Wii Sports - 82 million
2. Mario Kart Wii - 34 million
3. Wii Sports Resort - 31 million
4. Wii Play - 28 million
5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 27 million
6. Wii Fit - 22 million
7. Wii Fit Plus - 20 million
8. Super Mario Galaxy - 12 million
9. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 11 million
10. Wii Party - 8 million
11. Mario Party 8 - 7 million
12. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - 7 million
13. Super Mario Galaxy 2 - 6 million
14. Donkey Kong Country Returns - 6 million
15. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - 6 million
16. Just Dance - 5 million
Xbox 360:
1. GTA V - 15 million
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops - 12 million
3. Minecraft - 10 million
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 8 million
5. Halo 3 - 8 million
6. Gears of War - 5 million
7. Gears of War 2 - 5 million
Playstation 3:
1. GTA V - 14 million
2. Gran Turismo 5 - 10 million
3. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 5 million
4. God of War 3 - 5 million
5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 5 million
That is pretty interesting. I hadn't thought this way about those countries before.
