Yeah, I think you're right on both counts. I run Tasigur, the Golden Fang as my general so I have a more limited pool of planeswalkers, but even then at 6CMC Tezzeret seems less effective than any given Jace or just Tezzeret the Seeker.
What do you guys think about the new card Mox Amber?
Seems pretty good, about 25% of the deck turns it on. That could also be an argument against as sometimes it literally does nothing.
I've also been thinking about Tezzeret, Master of Metal. I had him in my deck when it had a lot more artifact synergy, but I think he might be pretty good with a handful of artifacts too. His +1 is "draw an artifact from your deck" which is halfway between draw a card and tutor an artifact. His main issue is that 6 CMC.
So I recently converted my version of this Dralnu deck to a Kess deck. I figured I would post it here to spark some discussion. I think adding Red actually helps the reanimator strategy a lot, but with Kess, Dissident Mage at the helm the control aspect becomes a bit less threatening.
I'm going to try out Overburden and Sunder in my Sultai list, I thought they might be worth mentioning as budget options for the true 5 color list.
In 5 color if you were going to play Sunder, you would probably want Jokulhaups instead, but Sunder is marginally more "friendly". Instant speed also never hurts.
Overburden seems like pretty strong anti-creature tech, might be worth considering for the main list. The Oracle text also specifies non-token, which is pretty huge for us.
With the PW's being legends now...worth to put Reki, History of Kamigawa somewhere in the 99?
I've been considering Reki for my list since the rule was made official. I think he is comparable to Captain Sisay in a super friends deck.
So I've been running a Sultai list for awhile, but I'm thinking of expanding it to 4 colors for Yidris (guess I don't like white lol). Here is the list I'm thinking of:
I run a lot of sweepers in this deck, and I think it works out all right. I'm looking for any suggestions for red cards I might be overlooking.
I'm considering leaning more into artifacts to run things like Daretti, Scrap Savant, Saheeli Rai, and the Artifact Lands. I'm also considering Oath of Chandra, which doesn't seem very good on paper, but just activating it once in a four player game is 9 damage for 2 mana. It could add up.
I'm curious if we might see more Planeswalker Commanders. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a new Ajani in the cat deck that "Can be played as a Commander".
I would be a little more surprised if we got a new Sorin in the Vampire one.
Good news, I don't mind seeing new cards for the Gatewatch, but having them be half of the planeswalkers released in a year(more with planeswalker decks) is a bit too much.
I appreciate that they're going forward with the Naga creature type. Ideally they would have been "Naga Snake", but at least the Tarkir Nagas won't be left in the dust.

I was also looking at Pendrell Mists for a bit, not sure how I feel about. It is a decent The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale replacement, but 0 mana vs 4 mana is a big difference.

I don't believe we know the name of the plane it is on. I suspect that it may be kept secret in order to be a surprise.
I would be a little more surprised if we got a new Sorin in the Vampire one.
I imagine he is bringing them to another plane, the question is: Which one?
The new core set I can take or leave.
10 of them are probably the draft uncommons.
