it's funny.. they're slowly turning this into an enchantment focused block..
onslaught was turned into a creature heavy
mirrodin obviously artifact heavy with lately some johny interactions
and now everything turns to start focusing on enchants.. and that explains maybe why they created autumn tail in cok.. when it wasn't exactly useful
You must be new to the game. Moss Kami is one of the most powerful creatures in CHK. With green mana accel (one Kodama's Reach + one Sakura elder), you can get it on turn four, and attack on turn five. I draft U/W. Always. Unless I get terrible cards. Normally a kabuto moth + kitsune blademaster can basically destroy anything, as I finish off my oponent with my teller of tales, and sometimes unblocked blademasters. However, facing down a moss kami without a cage of hands is devastating.
lol .. i knew i didn't explained myself well.. :wink3:
i actually use moss kami a lot.. maybe cause i like the art i pick it more than vine kami or the kumos.. (not exactly new to the game)
trying to elaborate:
my point isn't in the creatures themselves.. nor in the p/t and the slow down of the mana curve intention of wotc.. was in the "filling" with soulshift.. i mean.. fatties are good for the game.. specially timmy - casual oriented.. but my point is.. why instead of adding high soulshifts they add "this may block as thought it has flying" or regenerate or "cannot be blocked by less than two creatures" or "payN: this gets ..." or stuff like that.. when they've already printed a solid base for soulshift in this block?? is like printing many times the same card without apparently improvements in the different sets of a single block.. when let's face it.. the thousand legged kami itself is more than enough to bring back the top "fatties" around.. the kodamas.. jugan.. and others.. and imho.. if you need to bring back the patron.. there are other ways to do so.. just think up.. there're always cheaper ways to reap graveyards..
so if they are going to add timmy stuff.. at least add something that will make the card more appealing even for non timmy players.. so they can be at least picked up by a (no matter if small) part of the gaming community instead of it being called a "filler" in the uncommons slot
(yeah.. it's a block.. and they've to show up the new mechanics.. but imho there's a point that they usually get to when they start over doing it.. and killing creatures with potential.. so instead of people being amazed by the possibilities of the new mechanics they just say "bah another filler")
so.. question.. is there a good spirit with cmc of 8 out there?
cause i can't understand why wizards keep making these creatures.. moss kami.. vine kami.. the (U) insect kami..
if.. imho.. some of the most used green cards in cok where cheap.. sakura elder.. the kodama arcanes.. the zubera.. hana kami.. stuff like that.. so what's telling wotc that they must keep on making these things?
let's see.. nice find.. don't say is exactly a great card.. specially 'cause the p/t difference but.. has trample.. and it's obviously timmy stuff.. a.k.a. non tournament first pick..
timmy stuff!
i would say w00t but.. they're way too casual-esque and the artifact would've been nicer if it was a little bit cheaper.. or leave the cc like that but with no other activation cost other than tapping..
have you seen how these days a "timmy" or "fatty" creature is usually 4/4? (and a bit over costed even when they're rares) what happened to the days of argothian wurm and such? talking about an accelerated environment.. give us our old fatties! (5/5 and up..)
final judgement and the nezumi patron in second place..
from the ones known so far (seems that the power is in the black and red ones)
personally.. i'm keeping high hopes on the kodamas.. and i like kyoki's flavor text
weirdly wotc didn't make it arcane
btw.. not too many wizards in this set.. same as snakefolk
wonder why wizards keep doing this kind of things.. wasting those few rare slots..
if sosuke got his summons (note: it's also an uncommon).. why sachi won't get her mark..

(ok.. the dragon and kodamas.. but.. what else?)
might use it with something earthlink-esque (or like the burning sands.. hope they made something like that in bok)
