e)If you mean pictograph-style writing, then the Sumerian. If you want an Alphabet, then the Phoenicians (whos alphabet was actually developed by the early Semites)

So what you're saying is that the Stick and the Slipper have no relationship? I can kinda see that now... Previous statement retracted. Now lets see if i can do this...

    there are 2 possible answers:

    (name,day,weapon,amount)

    Miss Fitch,friday,slipper,4ml
    Mrs Melbury,monday,handbag,6ml
    Ms Trews/Mr Twiddle,wednesday,fist,1ml
    Ms Trews/Mr Twiddle,saturday,walking stick,2.5ml
    Mr Sachs,tuesday,umbrells,7ml

    both of the possibilities work

NEITHER of those possibilities work. in order for the stick to have occured on saturday, then the slipper would have occured on thursday, which is not a choice. Furthermore, you have the slipper occuring on friday which isn't valid either because the stick happens 2 days later, which would be sunday, which isn't a choice.

Edit: After a LOT of studying this thing, it seems to me that one of the clues is invalid, because, as written, the puzzle is unsolvable. With the omission of Thursday, clues 2 and 4 contradict each other.

The fist and the handbag must occur 2 days apart, and the Slipper and Stick must occur 2 days apart. so if the Handbag occurs on Monday, the Fist must occur on Wednesday. This means that the slipper can't occur at all and neither can the stick. Anywhere you put the slipper would cause the stick to fall on a day that isn't a choice unless you can stick the slipper on wednesday, but you can't, because the fist is on wednesday... NavyJoe come help...
