Why would you google that unless you knew about the Gutter already? I don't see what an interest in -- what? swearing? -- has to do with your ability to find the place.
Anyway, that's not what I've heard from several other prominent Gutter members. It's supposed to be open to everyone over 18, and then based on a system of merit, or am I still missing something?
It is really not that hard to find. I think most regulars on MTGS know of what the Gutter is. If a member has been around for about a year, there's a great chance they've seen one of the many gutter-related threads posted in this forum. It happens every once in awhile.
It IS open to everyone over 18, but it may not fit the interests of those people. The Gutter has its own culture, and it is what it is. That's all I was saying.
Would it be worthwhile starting a conversation here about how publicly available the Gutter is? I personally see no reason to keep it a secret. Having a visible forum (maybe at the bottom of the forum list) that explicitly states that you need to be 18+ and have at least 250 posts (or something) to access would increase the number of people involved and at least let people in on discussions like those about the mods. Or is having more people a bad thing for some reason? It just seems shady to keep it all completely secret and that almost certainly contributed to a large portion of the backlash the Gutter saw recently when it was exposed.
Maybe I'm just stupid, but I never knew anything about the gutter and still I got involved in the same "gang" on the helpdesks and would like to contribute to conversations like that in the future. Maybe I'm just conceited, but I think more users (like me) willing to discuss the overall good of the site would be nothing but beneficial.
The Gutter isn't for everybody, which is why it is not displayed publicly. If a user is interested in the Gutter, they will find out what it is pretty quickly. It's not that hard to find out what it is. Googling "MTGS Gutter" yields the first result of the MTGSWiki, which gives good information on what it is.
