the idea that bitterblossom will make a sea of 1/1 flyers that makes attacking with griselbrand impractical and emrakul's annihilator less effective, is somewhat irrelevant. theres already other decks doing just that with lingering souls, as well as affinity throwing ornithopter in the way of either of our legends.
I'd say if your already experienced in fighting through either of those situations, then adapting Fury of the horde version to cope with bitterblossom shouldn't be much of a stretch. just remember to pack your electrikerys and/or electroylze.
He's right. I also forgot to mention earlier that while in my testing against Zoo we realized that Zoo will put themselves at 14-15 life by turn 3 very consistently because of their fetching of lands and shock lands. I feel that will be with a bitterblossom, and as such I think Emrakul will be a 1 hit kill just like in the Zoo match up for Faeries. Thus entirely negating the need to even worry about flying tokens since you wiped out their entire board.
I'm playing Time of Need right now to help smooth out the consistency, allowing me to choose the fatty of choice if there is need to be specific. So far it may have slowed me down by a small percentage, but has added to my turn 3/4 combo kill consistency.
I was thinking about adding an Elesh Norn to search with Time of Need to give a toolbox effect against tokens. Anybody tried this?
Sideboard:
2 Ancient Grudge
3 Combust
2 Dispel
2 Lightning Bolt
2 Nature's Claim
2 Thoughtseize
2 Through the Breach
This was published SB , he has already said to add Pyroclasm back in for Combust and Grudge. He also wanted 4x Simian Spirit Guide main instead 3. I would like to try Leyline of Sanctity against Jund- he got hurt by their discard pretty bad.
Tin Fists came from Tin Fins the Legacy reanimator deck although it more resembles Sneak and Show. Tin Fists was catchy. Better than Breaching for Vengeance. Actually that's not bad either. How about Cheetah Phatty BoomBoom ? Say it like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
It's probably a cost vs benefit issue-
Keeping old system cheaper but increasing dropping events cost some financially and in public relations.
Really new completely redone system costs are more to implement, PR hit from grinders.
Potential losses over time are increasing - no Mac / iPad potential on old client - user unfriendly -how many more players would they have had if they had done this earlier and may add if change now going forward. Newer competition in those areas specifically Hearthstone and Solforge.
The cost benefit analysis was heading toward change. This past weekend was probably tipping point- lost revenues plus bad PR.
MTGO knew about the problems for awhile and it has been said they know 'grinder' as an occupation for a few. They may have delayed changes because of the effect on grinders but used Kibler/ MOCS/ PTQ failures to implement. If it hadn't been him it would of happened eventually. I feel like they know they need to make some changes to keep up with the new competition. And almost everyone outside of grinders would love to see some major changes. I look forward to see what those changes bring.
I hope they use this time to really get MTGO in a better place. As they stated in the announcement they have known of problems for awhile. This has been a long time coming. They may have delayed changes because of the grinders. Kibler's bad PR drop just provided the impetus.
Todd specifically mentions weakness to Twin. Any thoughts on more SB cards? I assume Torpor Orb and Pyroclasm are solid. Adding Boseju and Defense Grid help. Is the one of See Beyond necessary? I wonder if something else might work there. Spellskite?
I also was wondering about trying a one of Gemstone Caverns.
What they should do is make this standard and move up start times for limited GPs at least. Not any good reasons to wait until day of anymore. I'd rather have a smoothly run GP of 4000 that starts earlier -than one that starts at noon and gets 4200. If you can buy a plane ticket and reserve a hotel room , you can preregister.
Also registration should include the media release form as part of it.
For locals that can't make it Friday but can Saturday and don't have internet / credit card - well get a friend to sign you up or maybe they could have some local shops help out i.e you pay them the cash they sign you in as paid and they pay the TO.
Cockatrice offers a service that MTGO doesn't. Proxy playtesting is a real need - people would pay for. MAc users would pay for it. Let MTGO step up and provide this functionality. Cockatrice doesn't provide tournaments with prizes or pro tour invites. If they were stealing business then there should have been a big jump in MTGO usage. I doubt there was a change. Besides at least on Cockatrice you and your opponent can ( usually ) figure out how Pillar of Flame works. MTGO couldn't even during a major tournament.

NO registration on Saturday to hopefully start on time. Good idea but they waited a little late to implement.
