Where are the Naya Hushblades at?
With shroud those things just scream "remove this".
If anything i'd try replacing the Stewards of Valeron for them, and just test it out, you look to enough mana that you'll be perfectly fine cutting them.
Other than that, all the first build really needs is some space for Paths, that would round the deck out and give it some real consistent removal, especially with one of your main colors being white.
Cmon slacker canadians. Put down the pipe for a couple of hours, and go to the f***ing store and claim the piece.
Wow. Did you not just read the few posts prior to yours? The OLYMPIC TORCH for the WINTER OLYPICS is going through downtown Toronto right now....that's like trying ot manuevur through Times Square in New York on New Years, your getting nowhere fast.
Also, cut the racism. Seriously, its a freaking card.
It is. Apparently no one has gone to the store to get it. And they can't release it in any other form until someone does.
I can't really give anybody grief for that, it is in the middle of a workday for most people....I can however hope and hope somebody gets off for lunch and runs over and asks
Needs moar Day of Judgment. You've got Journey and O-Ring to help repel creatures, but it takes forever to get an Ascension or Sigil going, and by then any aggro deck worth its salt will have killed you. (With the exception of Jund, because you've been screwing its manabase.)
Also, the cascade spells only provide card advantage if you have an Enchantress or Sigil out. This is because unlike Bloodbraid or Bit Blast, Ardent Plea and Stormcaller's Boon have just about zero effect on the field.
PS: Where's Path? I don't know if you need removal besides Journey and O-Ring, but don't hesitate to run it just because it's not an enchantment. And once again, dunno if it's necessary, but Sphinx of Jwar Isle still fits this build pretty well.
PPS: Here's a thought to toy around with: Hive Mind. With your distinct lack of instants and sorceries, it might be nice turning your opponent's Bit Blasts, Blightnings, and Bolts against them. Remember: even if they don't have creatures when they cast a removal spell at one of yours, you can target the same creature they're targeting so only one thing dies.
I agree with you about the DoJ's, but not with the cascade-chants.
Stormcaller's Boon and Ardent Pleas are in here because:
1. If Enchantress is out you get a free card.
2. Flying is always nice, Exalted is too since this deck is creature light, a flying deft duelist getting an exalted bonus is pretty nice when you need it.
3. The only thing Stormcaller's Boon hits in this decks is an important enchant (Luminarch Ascension or Spreading Seas/Convincing Mirage), same with Ardent Plea
And the reason for paths NOT being in here are because only the Seas, Mirage, Duelist, and possibly Wall of Denial should be hit by the cascade.
Sphinx of Jwar Isle is nice, i'm going to SB at least 2, and as for Hive Mind....that requires some thought...it's a very cool idea, but prolly only real good against Jund or RDW.
From my experience with this deck, Enchantress just dies to all of their otherwise useless removal which is rotting in their hand. You're better off just using Jace.
True, Jace is better, but at least Enchantress can at least function as a chump blocker against something...she won't kill anything, but she will keep a little damage off you.
Other advantage to Enchantress is that the first game against any deck with removal you'll have an advantage with her out. I play Jund most of the time and if I saw a Enchantress hit the field i'd pay more attention to the fact that she costs W, and i'd save my removal for that Baneslayer that i think is coming, but won't actually be.
Plus any amateur player isn't gonna hose your Enchantress first game, and thankfully a very large chunk of my meta is pretty new to Standard, that helps a lot.
But you have a good point, i guess i'll have to try this next week when i head to FNM, if my chantress keeps biting the dust too easy then i might replace her with Jace's.
Whereas Stormcaller's boon does not do very much for me.
I played with this deck quite a bit on MWS, and it seems to usually lose to RDW and boros.
Lastly: can someone please compose a list of this deck's good and bad matchups, as well as a medium okay sideboarding guide. thanks
Well here's a composed list of this deck's matchups so far, if anybody has any correction's just say so.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Jund
Naya
Vampires
RWU Planeswalker Control
BAD MATCHUPS
RDW
Boros Bushwacker
I figure I'm at least in the ballpark with the matchups, and as for your problem against RDW and BBW...see above.
Stormcaller's Boons aren't really gonna help against either, either of these decks is just going to tear you up before you can get anything major online, if anything I would put PtE's in your SB and board them in second round.
How worth it is running sunspring expedition, honestly? Hypothetically the only reason its here is for mesa activations. Why not just play more counter support or fogs?
That said, a counterspell worth looking at is hindering light. It saves us from burn, ultimatums, and all means of removal tossed at enchantress. Cancel almost seems like our best bet, however, seeing that its the most versatile we have at the time.
Also have to remember, this format is chock full of aggro decklists. If your going to be running this, your gonna need the extra life gain coming off of Sunspring.
What does everyone think of Day of Judgements in here? The only viable creatures of yours they'll kill are either Wall of Denials/Deft Duelist/Mesa Enchantress, so if your up against somthing like a mono-white soldier it'd be a good board clear in case of some really bad luck.
I have not played this deck other than a little double-fisting (which doesn't work so well) and a little MWS (see prior statement), but from this testing I have found that Luminarch Ascension will often save your bacon, and it is probably one of the most important cards in this deck. Lategame pumping out threats for 1W is huge, especially if you opponent is running out of gas.
Long story short, Luminarch Ascension is a great card. I still have to pick up my set as well, but they don't run much more than $4 each, and if your running Jund with Pulses and stuff, you shouldn't have an issue affording them.
Thanks, and you raise a good point. I keep looking at this build and i'm liking it more and more, but I think if I start running it I'm going to try and find a way to board some Wall of Denial's MD. They completely stop all the aggro decks around my meta and are great blockers against Jwar Isle Sphinx.
I've been forum trolling and idea-fishing for a new deck for awhile now and ya know, i think this might be it.
I've been running Jund at the last four FNM's i've been at and i've only made the top 4 once, all because of Naya builds. True this is before the naya Lightsaber but now that Naya Lightsaber is out i've really been meaning to switch.
My only problem: I have 0 Luminarch Ascensions. So my question is this, hypothetically if i did scrape up a build like this, what would i replace my Ascensions with?
Smother is Vamp's Godsend in Standard right now. It's amazing against the mirror, takes care of BBW, and even helps against Naya Lightsaber and Jund. Is it great for everybody and a must have? No, not even a lil bit.
Limited? This card could be good, but i wouldn't MD it. If anything, i'd take Disfigure over this in Limited, just because you'll never know when you might need that Disfigure to survive a Landfall pumped Territorial Baloth.
I've goldfished this deck enough times to at least understand it, and i've playtested it enough times to know this deck pretty well...or at least i'd like to believe.
My problem is this...with all the times i've playtested against a Naya ramp, a Jund aggro, and a GWB Landfall, and against only the Naya ramp have i ever need Knight of the White Orchid.
So after all the testing, i've decided to cut down my Knights down to 2. I'm not real confident of this decision though so i wanted a lil bit of CONSTRUCTIVE feedback here.
I've never actually run this build before, but a good friend of mine loves his Sphinx Control. Only prob is that his Sphinx Control doesn't work for our meta...we have just way too much Naya and Planeswalker Control to run Sphinx, so I'm trying to get him interested in this deck. The only problem i can see with this deck is the fact that there's little to no actual Planeswalker removal. So I was wondering if you can include Vampire Hexmage in the SB just in case you hit a hardcore RWU Planeswalker deck.

EDIT: Never mind, i saw them in the first build.

Unsummon is in Conflux for a single blue mana for a reason....I'm willing to bet that its going to be -1.
As for a 0 Brainstorm, we're all hoping, but odds are it's not gonna happen, that just screams unbalanced.
