Wow... now that was a difficult choice. Razia or Jace? Both images are rendered beautifully. Overall, I felt that the Jace was a stronger piece.

Great job everyone, cool stuff! Grin

Oh btw Serrot_29... how'd you do that comic print effect? I'd love to know how you did it. :p

    NO! that's MAH secret!

ok, ok, you twisted my arm Smile i considered getting manga studio like Guardman said they used. but i decided to challenge myself a bit more. i wasted about a days worth of work hours (i was lazy and we had temps at my job doing my job for me) looking for some decent screentones for photoshop. btw, i use photoshop as my sketchbook. pretty much they are just patterns which i paint bucketed onto blank layers, set the layer blending option to multiply and just masked away what i wanted to take away. sorry if that makes absolutely no sense, i'm not really good at explaining things.

@Kev the Walker: yeah, i know. this style is VERY outside of what i can do. i tried what i felt i could do. not the greatest, but i do what i can.

@Warden: i tried your idea of angling the eyes down a bit. that makes the face look a bit off, don't really know how to explain it better. things with "broken" anatomy tend to bug me, A LOT.

donno how this will work but im gonna try my hand at necropotence.... may do screentone shading or just flat colors... not really sure yet. but the linework is almost completed.... then again, this may not even work at all.

Here's mah craptastic take on Circu, Dimir Botanist. Still trying to get used to my new tablet. No background b/c I've got a few other things I need to be working on. Oh, and sorry about the large size, I work 8x10 300dpi out of habit. I shrunk it down but it is still quite large.

yeah, like i said, its just practice so i really wasn't trying to make it pretty, just matching color and seeing if i could do it. and yeah, i plan on maybe covering the entire bottom of my bb playset with the only things visible being the name and cost. and a quick question to those of you painting these, do you guys erase what you will be painting to have a blank "canvas" to work from or do you just paint on top of everything there?

i will admit, i can't paint all that well. seeing some of this work inspired me to try. i really wanted to paint my playset of shocks so i did a test on one of my white bordered ones.

i loves mah some mc escher ... and i did not know that he did his work on tracing paper then transfered over to the wood blocks... and i did attempt to make one of his images in 3d, but, teh proportions that he worked with, made it very difficult to do... needless to say, i failed horribly at it... in any case, i LOVE the skull in the middle of that strange, strange piece there PBG... its always interesting when an artist reaches outside of their "safe zone" to do a piece... im a big fan of skulls, so i drew one straight with a bic while bored at work... its here:

its about the size of a MTG card, so its not that big... i really need to get on the pieces that im actually getting monies for.... if i remember, and if i get them done soon, ill try and post some images, if the owners of them let me... well i found some digital copies of work ive previously done... just added them to my photobucket stuff, which is located here...

my attempt at pencil to paper. the penciled art is on many layers of tracing paper. i picked up this way to 'drawing' from using photoshop waaay too much. tho i like it, as it allows me to do a part of the whole, and if i dont like it, get rid of it, not losing the parts i do like. i use a mechanical pencil, as im not able ot get that kind of detail work with a regular wooden pencil, the lead wont stay pointy :p im not really good at 'critiquing' (did i spell that right? prolly not) so, ill just put what im thinking as i see your work...

@FKiH: i like your work, but the lined paper has to go. it takes away from the actual arwork. i like your style, and especially the wee little dragon thing ... soooo cuuuute
@PBG: i really like your wolfman warror. it looks amazing. im soo bad with ink
@mm55: hands are hard... had to take an anatomy class just for some help to get them sorta right...
@FP: woo hoo, digital work... i stick to black and white, as im better at ink than i am at digital painting... well im just bad at painting in general. i really, REALLY like your third piece... maybe its the use of the colors? i donno, i just really like it Smile
