So we have entire herds of exotic animals in a city-plane?
Sometimes i wonder what get inside creatives' minds.

They found coyotes in Central Park.

Because of course the point of casual Magic is always playing the most efficient cards. EDIT: That was sarcasm, just in case anyone's confused. I mean, if everyone's just going to play tournament tier cards, what's the point of casual Magic?

Well, they are clearly out of ideas for new cards . . .

Three sets of Ravnica? That's desperate, like when a band declares it's going "back to their roots" and its like "we're ran out of both money and ideas so we're going to keep on rehashes of our best seller and you're going to say you love and can't have enough of it".

You took the words right out of my mouth. I will be keeping an eye on people's reactions once rotations start, and most of Standard's content is Ravnica, to see if people start going "Ugh this is so stale!!?"

Is MTG the worst community? Probably not

Do the worst kind of people become attracted to MTG? Certainly

and there's nothing to stop the man children from being attracted to MTG, we all have to endure

Yeah, I agree - Magic has a truly awful community, but some of the things that make it awful are not unique to it, if you all know what I mean. Some are created and amplified by the internet, and some are because the worst kind of people seem to be attracted to it for whatever reason.

The thing that I find curious about Magic is why more people don't go "Y'know, screw this godawful tournament scene, I'll just enjoy it on my own terms at home or with people I actually enjoy being around." Unless the reason the FNM and up scene never becomes less godawful is because people do precisely that.

Man I really hope when we finally get that Bolas showdown with Bolas vs. Gatewatch that he actually wins and literally kills of 75 % of the entire Gatewatch. Maybe leaving 1 alive and corruption another.

For God's sake. Maybe they should also change the name of the game to "Magic: the Edgelording".

I can't imagine MTG at my local Gamestops. There's 2-3 Gamestops near me and I can't see where they would setup enough tables to even hold an 8 person event. Their floor space is way too small. There's no access to bathrooms. You wouldn't let people wander into the back stock area for bathrooms, would you?

Do you know how many LGS I've been to where there were not enough tables for a single draft pod, the floor space was way too small, and there was no access to bathrooms? Do you know how many people across the world have been to the same number of LGS that could be described in this way?

Yet those very same LGS are supposedly the center of our game's "culture", and this GameStop discussion is some kind of suspicious thing. Rolleyes

The reprints in this set really feel like reuniting with old friends. I didn't even feel that way about all the timeshifted cards in Time Spiral!

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but has anybody posted "Why couldn't this have countered any spell??!?" yet?

It's a good card overall, and my God does Jhoira look beautiful in this set. She's been taking care of herself!

Raff has a good game effect. I see him doing interesting things in Commander (including Brawl).

I don't like what he forebodes for the story, though. Did anyone read the original Weatherlight Saga and say, "Y'know, this would be a lot better with a precocious Harry Potter-style kid as one of the main characters"?

I love how the main criteria for a game being good seems to have become "it's cheap".

The truth is some of us think this product under-delivers. Others have voiced they like it and that's fine. Both views are equally valid. We need to move along and let others voice their opinions.

The problem is not that "some of us think this product under-delivers". The problem is that a lot of Magic players on the internet are not capable of being satisfied by anything, and further that they attack people who can be satisfied by something.

So the only criteria for Magic being good is that you can buy any netdeck you want for the price of, what, a Big Mac?

Now before this goes further, keep in mind the value in these decks is an illusion because the cards they put in them are rotating relatively soon. They are great starting points for anyone who wanted to get into standard and play with Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Hazoret the Fervent, Fatal Push, etc, but these cards are going to drop in value really fast.

And that will be the next complaint - they come out too late in the season. Why can't we have these on day one? Because you can tell yourself all you like that this is about "precon decks that actually function", or whatever. It's not. It's about people thinking, to quote someone from an entirely different website, that they would do as well as Paulo Vitor if they owned four of every card.
