Well Thanks. As far as not being top 25, thats really not the case. On Thedci when i check for the area i live in, my name is nowhere on there, just not sure if it will come back now that mine is active again.
I just got back into magic after 2 years off. Due to work slow and wife being laidoff.
My DCI rating for limited was 1841 when I stopped playing. And standings for my area no longer show me in top 25. Will that come back now that i have started playing again. Will it be same or lower?
Well, my first limited tourney, or any magic tourney in over 2 years, brought me to a draft with 18 players, 2 pods of 9 which sucked. But oh well. Dont have my Deck in front of me but deck was mono green with splash of white for 2 1/1 tappers and a 2/4 griffin. Green in my deck was sick with 2 mages for making mass tokens, 2 overruns(1 pick 2 1 pick 7) 2 Lawnmowers elfs, 3 4/4 tramplers, 2 2/2 bears. MD 1 pulldown(destroy flier) and had 2 more for SB which i borded in every match except 2 since mpost decks had black white and blue fliers
Went 5-0 with only 3 game losses. twice to mana screw.
I think that Magma Spray is the best pick here. Still leaves out options open, and with the Sigil, being in green or Naya with the trample critters works best for the Sigil.
Nothing green in here worth taking.
I have seen Tar Fiend wreck some hands, and I've played it and sacced critters just to have a big beat stick before with opponent with no cards in hand.
So the difference would be between (1) letting them know we took a Rare, and therefore not to assume any particular card was picked - although they'd have to assume we took a pretty big bomb to pass the Sigil, like a Dragon or Planeswalker and (2) perhaps making them think we took a common - which would have to pretty much be Oblivion Ring because what other commons would you conceivably take over what's in this pack.
So, to avoid potentially sending them a somewhat misleading signal, take the non-foil? (something you'd only really ever do in a format like this)
Agree with you and Puzzle, so
SHEPHERD, CHANGE MY PICK FROM fOIL SIGIL TO NONFOIL SIGIL
This pack is also the nuts, there are like 4-5 very good first picks, between Kitty, Gargoyle, Sigil, Foil Sigil, and possibly even the Battlemage.
I would be very happy to recieve this pack minus the rare.
Your disdain of GM is laughable. There's not a single more consistent and competent TO in the country. I've been to Shea's events, not the best times I've had, sure he hands out plenty of prizes, but the tournament logistics are generally shoddy. GM has more lifetime events ran under them than anyone else outside wotc, there has to be a reason.. err cus they're competent and capable? With one of the best judge staff in the area the globe has to offer outside Seattle, tournament are fairly reliably and timely run, far as tournaments go.
you sound like someone who lacks knowledge in what they speak of. The prize support was STRICTLY dictated by WotC, as was mentioned ad naseaum on many other posts since PR whining about the pathetic prize support. Many stores who ran their own PRs opted to break their agreement and hand out higher support, and I reported all the ones I found out about.
I for one, would not want wotc taking over anything. Their tournament running logicistics and capabilities are at their limits for the PTs they run, and that's it. GPs have always been the local jurisdiction of the PTO in the region in the states. I wonder how is it that if GM is such a lousy TO, that prior to GP Indy, GM held the 3 largest attended gps in NA history, and currently hold 2-4 placements? Also, fyi DM, GM is constantly asked by wotc to run their stuff for them as representatives, they ran the Magic events at NY Comic Con in it's inaugural year, they ran the WotC events at wizardworld, they were placed in full responsibility of all the side events at PT Philly.. You dont get there with wotc unless you've done mostly everything right by wotc's book. As for everyone else complaining of prize support, lets see you take a PTO-ship to it's 15-16 yr, and see if you can still manage, especially with the expenses of being here, in the NY/NJ/PA. If you think the margins are so amazing, run a large scale event yourself (and I mean over 100+ attendance), and find out how slim your over is, if you're even over. Find out what kind of prize support you have to give, how much you have to charge, how much expenses and compensation to staff you have to pay, and work it out, the math is not as amazing as many of you believe it to be.
Wow, Coolio, you must be the Head Judge for GM, LOL
These changes will be better, but I think that shafting the PTO's will hurt in the long run. Some ight even close shop and then who would run the PTQ's and qualifiers?
Drafts are back, but to what extent, probably Sha-Sha-Con and cost 15 is my guess.
Well,1 of those 3 shouldn't be in the pack on pick 3. Best pick in that pack is probably the Branching Bolt. If you want to keep more options open, get the Thunder.
I live in Ohio, and Columbus is 3 hours away. I have to agree with Beralt on this one: The close distance to my local store was worth missing out on the large numbers, and 3 hours drive. Sleeping in never felt so good.
Where in Ohio do you live that is 3 hours away? There isn't any, Cinci is 75 minutes away, Cleveland 2 hours and Toledo/Ashtabula isn't more than 2 1/2 hours, Plus in the NE you could go to Pittsburgh and NW could go to Detroit, PES runs those as well.
My main gripe is the prize support, I understand why they did it, but we don't have to like it, or show our support.
wouldn't G: Trample G: You may have ~ deal damage as though it weren't blocked
be incredibly redundant?
also - there's very little precedent to suggest this, and a vast amount that doesn't (Torchling, was not only god awful - it was tsp block which allowed for strange shifts in familiar cards).
Well obviously it wouldn't have both, more of a speculation of which one. Just to get a little talk going about it.
I would love to see a Morphling type card, but believe it will be smaller utilty creature.
I didn't go to the big PR, and its a good thing. On a normal PR, there would be about 50 people in line outside and there would be 2 flights going before 9:00 AM. I heard from a couple little birdies that went, that there were only 3 flights that ran before 10:00 and 1 was only half full, 16 players.
I went to a store PR and there were 7 people. Didn't have much fun either. Next PR, the store I go for FNM will have it so should be much better, but IDK.
Seconded, it is possible to do this. I sent Nai a PM for my info, but if the list is p[osted without the Passwords, then it would be easy to see if friends or family is on there.
Thanks for the responses though.

Mybe even Godtoucher, on color but off color ability.
My vote will probably be for the Snapper.

My picks in order would be
Magma Spray
Blood Cultist
Tar Fiend
Tri Land

Bolt is the best card in the pack though.
