Enchantment (R)
Creatures you control have flying.
Flying is cumulative (Creatures with flying can't be blocked except by creatures with equal or more instances of flying and/or reach).
A very cool idea But severely undercosted for what is essentially a superior Levitation.
Yeah, that is way, way, way too good. Compare with Soul Feast.
Not really, since you are losing life with this card. In terms of power level, I think the closest cards to compare it to would be either a devour in shadow or vendetta that also hits players (which is actually quite a bonus), but can't kill all creatures. In that case, I don't think this is too out of hand. I would consider a cost at BB to be more fair perhaps, especially when you compare to devour in shadow.
It looks like she just has non-white (more owl-like?) wings. It probably doesn't help that both her lower legs look cut off since they are tucked behind her (sort of like Akroma x2)
The art is all wonderful IMO, BUT, is it just me, or does the Merfolk Sovereign have legs? Not very Merfolk-ish.
Merfolk are known to transform their flipper into a pair of legs when they come on land. At least in the traditional stories... but I'm also fairly certain that the merfolk in Mercadia had that ability as well.
Indeed. This does, however, give us a hint about Zendikar block, since this card seems to outright go against the design of that entire block.
"It didn't work out" can mean a lot of things. I think the more likely reason was that the card was too powerful and couldn't be toned down without making it suck horribly. By the time they realized this and Tiago submitted a new idea, it could have been too late for its inclusion in ZEN.
To accommodate this much more rapid core set turnover, we are changing our format rotation policy beginning in the summer of 2010 with the release of the Magic 2011 core set. Magic 2011 will not knock Magic 2010 out of Standard; instead there will be only one rotation date per year, when the large Fall set is released. When the set codenamed "Lights" is released late in 2010, it will knock the Shards of Alara block and Magic 2010 out of Standard at the same time. Core sets will rotate as if they were part of the block preceding them. For approximately three months per year starting in 2010, there will be two core sets legal at a time, which is also a first.
I liked playing the Yu-Gi-Oh videogame on my GBA. Actually now that I think about, the Pokemon Card Game for the GBC was very good as well.
Overall, I like it when I can play with a large variety of cards with minimal investment
Not sure how the modern Yu-Gi-Oh video games play these days. Are they just as fast as the first ones? Or did they start adding flashy and time-consuming battle graphics?
hm yes i see now ..i thought it was all a bit of a stretch but maybe red mages deriving their power from mountains justifies
There was some hubbub when Glacial Ray was revealed, since I don't think any magic player ever thought ice would be red. In the end, I think the rationale was elemental damage = red?
In that case, I don't think we need to care about iciness shifting back to blue, since ice has always mainly blue to begin with and even now. We'll still associate a lot of ice with blue, since most cards with ice involve freezing things solid (tapping), walls and barriers (like this fortress) rather than frostbite beams.
They don't have to cater to newbies all the time There will always be cards that appeal to different types of players.
I would say that yes, the Liliana art is very reminiscent of Guay's water colours. (especially the sash/robe)
The Garruk art on the other hand is closer to Terese Nielson's usual work.

If you use your imagination, it almost looks like a green/blue triceratops and orange stegosaurus

Edit: And here are two:

This is even worse than healing salve in duels :/ (which you can gain life from as one of the modes)
I keep getting an "Unexpected Server Error" message
