Hello all, I thought of this card while playing against a storm deck

    Jurisdiction 1(U/W)(U/W)(U/W)

    Instant

Name a card, choose one - target player searches his or her library for a copy of the named card, puts it into his or her hand, and shuffles his or her library, or counter each spell with the chosen name on the stack.

    What do you think?

Edit: How do I create hybrid mana symbols?

I am attending GP Richmond tommorrow, and artists Ron Spears and Rob Alexander are schelduled to be there to sign cards

I have 3x normal Akroma, Angel of Wrath and one Foil version, as well as a couple copies of Polluted Delta

    Questions:

Are the cards worth more after they are signed?

    Are they worth less?

Do players or Collectors care about this?

Should I take a risk and have an artist 'mod' my cards? (As in draw extra artwork on it)

What else do showcased artists do?

I think they are very good, simply because you can tap out to play something that costs two, turn three, then drop the bounce, and there you go, you've basically negated the CIP drawback.

Thereotically... except if you have a good mana curve this makes you play a 2-drop on turn 3, trading a bit of quality for a bounceland.

Unless you have a tiny splash or heavy mana base issues, would not another basic land give you no loss in tempo (Ex: WGb with 3 swamps instead of a Golgari Rot Farm or two) ?

Yeah, Land destruction is kinda obscure, but I always find myself in a more relaxed mood if I go first and my opponent spends his 2nd turn making a bounceland instead of a basic and a 2-drop.

Another question --- do bouncelands by themselves affect how many lands you put in a deck? Is 16 with 2 bouncelands an okay manabase for a 2-color deck with a 3 card splash and a generally low curve?

The cards in question are the common bounce/double/common duals/karoos lands from Ravnica, the cycle with Boros Garrison and also their Guildpact counterparts.

I've heard several different views on them.

    +++Positive+++
    Fixes your mana
May go for 16 lands if you have a signet
    ....um that's it actually

    ---Negative---
CIP tapped, so slows you down the turn you play it
IF you get hit by a Wreak Havok or other LD, your mana base and tempo are screwed. (Early-Mid game)
Still a dead card when drawn in a topdeck war

I thought they were trash, but after seeing them in several T8 decklists I'm not so sure.

What are your thoughts and experiences on/with these lands?

Two or three years ago at the Fifth Dawn prerelease

My friends and I played casually for like 3 years, picking up a pack every month or so, and putting them all in ever-increasing 5 color deck and getting like 20 packs every birthday or Christmas

I wanted to take my game to the next level, so I read internet articles and convinced all of them to go to the Fifth Dawn release. They were first reluctant to go, but warmed up to it when I finally told them about the massive amounts of players and trading that could have been done.

One friend gets all excited and literally grabs all his rares, even the ones in the 2 or 3 decks he had in there, and puts it all into a binder with newly bought page protectors.

You guessed it, some bast**** grabbed it while we were playing in our first match.

We looked for it for the next 3 hours, but no luck. his collection, though not impressive by any means, was gone with the cards he had enjoyed playing with for 3 years now.

He left the pre-release and a few days later left Magic altogether.

Makes you want to go give that theif a savage beating, huh
stealing from a 12 year old newbie for a pile of jank rares and uncommons

    Otherwise the only thing that
    has happened to me was

A few months back some random person at a lan party I went to stole some cards from my casual T2 reanimator

    They got 2x Goryo's Veangeance
    and 3x Kukoshos

Waht puzzles me is that they were a bad thief, as they skipped over
    4x Cranial Extraction
    4x Gifts Ungiven
    3x Keiga, The Tide Star
    3x Sickening Shoal
    2x Meloku

    hmmmm......

    Yesterday at the Guildpact Prerelease...

I was 1-1-0 in the 3rd round. I had a good board position in Game 1.

My opponent Last Gasps my 3/3 Trampler for (RG). In his next turn, he dredges back a Stinkweed Imp, putting 4 cards and another copy of Last Gasp into his graveyard.

This was Rav sealed with 3 Guldpact boosters, so I called the judge thinking that my opponent added cards (No registration for Maryland prerelease) Come on, he had two Last Gasp. Edit: both were nonfoil

The judge didn't hear me, but my opponent immediately offered to concede that game to me and move onto the next one. I didn't budge and waited until the judge came over.

The judge told me that there could be a rare occurence where the print run allows for a common to be repeated. My opponent said something about not knowing anything was wrong and how he was only a casual player that only played at prereleases. The judge let him off without even a warning.

Edit: yes I appealed this, the head judge knew the other guy by name and gave the same ruling.

3rd game I savage twistered with a Belltower Sphinx left on the board and him at 2 life. The sphinx was previously tapped down by his droning bureaucrats. He last gasps my sphinx and we draw because of timeout. If I had won that game, I would have recieved 3 more Guildpact boosters overall.

My opponent shuffled into non-divisable piles, constantly shuffled his hand, knew every Guildpact card I played just from the name, and had a Pro Tour Player's deckbox, with a Champs playmat folded up next to him.

    Was I cheated?

What are some examples of really good luck you had in Magic?
(I don't mean stuff like having your opponent make a random mistake in a match)

I can think of 3 good examples:

Last november, I was playing in an Unhinged tournament when two friends decided to split a Darksteel box; I had to pick up some packs for another friend's birthday, so I offer to buy 5 packs. They then asked me if I could buy 1 more so they would have an even split, so I do and I open the spare one.
    *Foil* Arcbound Ravager

Around 2 years ago when my friends and I were new players (timmies) one guy plucked up the cash (we were like 13 at the time) to get a legions booster box. He opens 3/4 of it and is disappointed to recieve NONE of the really flashy rares (legends, kilnmouth dragon, etc). He gives me a pack to pay me back for helping him, and I open an *Foil* Akroma, Angel of Wrath, Holy Grail of Newbies + Reanimation. Needless to say, he got pretty frustrated...

The final, and perhaps most atrocious, example, happened not to me but to a friend that doesn't play anymore. He was shopping for packs when he spotted two Legions boxes on KB Toys' shelves. He takes them to the register where the impatient teenage cashier scans them without taking a look at them, then tells my friend to hurry up when he loitered to ask questions about the cards.
....I guess they didn't notice they didn't open the boxes and instead just put the $4 price labels on... My friend got the entire Legions set almost twice over (missing a couple of second copies of rares) for $8.40. (too bad it wasn't like Invasion or Onslaught, but Legions.)

Fun, huh? What have you got?

    Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo 1WW
    Legendary Creature - Fox Samurai
    Bushido 1, Defender
T: The next time a source of your choice would deal damage this turn, that damage is dealt to Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo, instead.
1W: Prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo this turn.
    1/4

I am guessing that this will be rare because the reminder text would probably be cut to fit on the card.

Wait... even though this was confirmed real, don't legendary creatures refer to themselves by first name only if their name shows up more than once in their text? As in cards like Phage the Untouchable or Godo, Bandit Warlord.

EDIT: Never mind, saw the updated wording

Why did you not include the Triskilion/Vampire?
This gets rid of every creature (especially useful against WW)
And serves its board clear purpose even if the creatures get bounced, unlike abunas+angel. Kinda hard to lose the game with your opponent having zero creatures.
Of course, with kiki+collosus this is probably just overkill.

    Why is Myr Retriever Used?

Why not take out the Black shrine?
It ties for highest cost, and 4 shrines should be more than enough to win the game.
Otherwise, is Honor-Worn Shaku playable in this deck?
    Tap Shrines for mana?
