It's got great synergy when you're able to afford saccing a dude to it, but what about the plethora of scenarios where you're not able to? It's then just a dead card in hand, unfortunately.

From my testing, that's been a rare situation. Especially against aggro, since often times they have a removal spell for what you play, and you can sac in response for awesome value. It's also nice to play Disciple, and then sac him since he's basically useless as a small body anyways.

The unexpected factor of it in larger tournaments from people who don't know you are playing it is also a factor to consider. I have had people play right into it without even thinking of it as an option, and then their whole plan is in shambles. The value of saccing a Messenger with pillar on the stack is much more backbreaking than it may seem. Same applies to Turn//Burn on Thrag or Messenger. It just throws a wrench into their entire plan, as they weren't expecting to have to deal with another creature.

Also there is something to be said about casting Altar's Reap into Tragic Slip. It allows you to easily be able to activate morbid on their turn.

I think that the benefits outweigh the negatives. I've rarely had it be completely dead, and most of the time it's when I topdeck it with nothing in play, but if you're in that situation, you are usually losing anyways, and if it were Sign in Blood, it wouldn't have done you any good anyways.

I agree with Cremate, however. I used to run 2 mainboard, but I ended up having to cut them for other things, and I bumped up to 4 Draw-2s instead. I could play around with the possibility of throwing the Cremates back in the main, but it seems pretty tight as it is right now.

7H0R, I am curious about the inclusion of Altar's Reap instead of a fourthSign in Blood?

I would hate to draw an Altar's Reap on turn two and not have SIB to draw that 4th land. And even in the late game I would rather my opponent waste a card to remove my Messenger than sac it myself for just two cards.

The only benefit would be if the opponent pacified one of our creatures, but an Abrupt Decay can take care of that and you still get the keep the creature. It will also stop a Sever the Bloodline but we rarely have more than 1 or 2 of the same creature out at the same time, and we can always use spot removal in this corner case.

You are right about it being bad early, but that's why I only run 1. I generally don't see it early. When I do have it early, I always just hold onto it.

The benefits of it over sign in blood though are staggeringly good. Every time I cast it, I have been glad it wasn't Sign in Blood. Blocking a big creature and saccing for 2 cards, in response to a pillar on your Messenger to keep the messenger and draw cards, hell, even just as instant speed Divination I have loved it. With the upped creature count (Albeit only by 1, but I do run two garruks which helps with creating bodies), I rarely don't have something to sac with it.

I'm currently on this deck for now, and I'm really liking it. I'm trying to get my hands on a third Liliana of the Veil, but she's a girl that's playing hard to get.

This is my current list after M14

Sometimes I say "3 and a Black", sometimes I say "3 Colorless and a Black". I would never say "3 Black", because to me that means :symb::symb::symb:. Order generally doesn't matter.
Cruel Ultimatum costs "2 Blue, 3 Black, 2 Red"
Autochthon Wurm costs "10, 2 White and 3 Green" or "10 Colorless, 2 White and 3 Green"
If a card costs only colorless, I always specify so.
    Karn Liberated costs "7 Colorless"

UR most likely. Red is a definite. Too many strong cards there to pass up on. Black has 1 doom blade, but that's it for good removal. Blightcaster could be decent, but with access to only a few enchantments he's underwhelming. RG is pretty good with 2 Predatory Slivers, but not enough playables overall kills it. Blue has a lot of cheap, splashable cards in Time Ebb, Disperse, and fliers.

Woah, is this still going on?
If so, I would love to get something like...

    Phoenix

...yeah I think that works fine enough.
    Please and thanks? =D

What is an estimated price for a Foil Evil Twin with 2 square cut corners on the left side?

I don't understand how people confuse "your" and "you're". They aren't even pronounced the same. When listening to an educate person talk, you can hear that they are pronounced distinctly differently.

    Same with "then" and "than".

I'm not sure if this really falls under the same category, but I hate when people say that their friend "hacked" their Facebook, when in reality they just left their computer or phone unlocked, and someone just posted something on it.

I still trade all the time. I go out of my way to trade quite often, and I know plenty of people around me at my few LGSs that trade just as much as I do.

I will also admit that I am definitely a shark, and yes it's much harder nowadays to get a solid profit on trades with everyone having a smartphone. However it also makes me feel less bad about sharking people. Everyone has a smartphone, or knows someone who does. It's your fault if you don't know the value of your own cards.

That being said, I am also perfectly okay with making trades of fair value for things that I need and even just for good staples

This swamp is probably the nicest foil basic I ever owned.
Other than that, John Avon stuff is always great looking.

There's no way this guy will go any higher than maybe $55-$60. Yes he's good, but not that good, holy crap. I can't even believe he's as high as he is.

Myr Retriever keeps your colors open and synergizes well if you can pick up some more good artifacts. God forbid you manage to get another 1 or 2 of these...

  • posted a message on Riku and Progenitor Mimic
Progenitor Mimic (And almost all other clone-like creatures) do not have an ETB trigger. They have a replacement effect that changes how they enter the battlefield. They will enter the battlefield AS whatever you choose to copy. THEN Riku will trigger, and you may make a copy of it. If you choose to make a copy of it, the copy will be whatever the Mimic copied, including the trigger. The end result would be two copies of whatever you wanted on the battlefield, and both of them would have one instance of the upkeep trigger.

Lich's Mirror doesn't trigger. It has a replacement effect that changes what happens when you would lose the game. It cannot be responded to. If you play the Eternity Vessel before you would lose the game, then the Lich's Mirror will just shuffle it back into your library. If you keep it in your hand, Lich's Mirror will still shuffle it into your library. There is pretty much no way of doing what you are trying to do.

Up until I saw the art in full size, I would have said that the new art sucked and the old was much better.

However, if you look at the full sized new art, it's actually quite good. Something about it really strikes me as being a "Dark Confidant"
I'll have to go with the new art on this one, but not by much.
