I once killed around 40 elf tokens in a 3-way game with Midnight Banshee, after using wither removal like Crumbling Ashes to kill his elf-boosters. Ah, if only I'd had Necroskitter out... *creams pants*
Best part is my elf opponent had the power to take me out 2 turns earlier, but I bribed him into not killing me and instead redirecting him towards my 3rd opponent. The look on his face when I popped Midnight Banshee was priceless.
Ah, I'd considered Grim Poppet, but I never thought of putting more counters on him. Viridian Longbow seems perfect. Oona's Gatewarden bears a striking resemblance to Michael Jackson. (I might get this to use for Viridian Longbow) The rest are good, but not quite what I'm looking for. I never knew you could search magiccards.info for effects, that was worth making this thread all by itself... Thanks peeps.
I'm working on a mono-black Wither Control deck (ala Shadowmoor crumbling ashes/necroskitter/blowfly infestation/kulrath knight/etc abilities) but in playtesting I've run into an issue. I only have 6 cards that add -1/-1 counters to a target; 4 Scar, and 2 Gnarled Effigy (which is horribly overcosted for what it does, especially compared to Scar...)
Those counters being the keystone of my deck, I figure I need more counter generators. I picked up 2 Gwyllion Hedge-Mage and 2 Thornbite Staff For now, but they're still not quite enough IMO. So I've determined that what I need is Black or colorless cards that either "...put a -1/-1 counter on target creature..." or ":tap: [name] deals [#] damage to target creature" (either an enchant creature or artifact equipment, and would be put on a Wither creature)
And no, I am not splicing red and I hate you for asking. (jk, but I'm still not splicing...) Anyone have any good ideas?
The demo is out now for people who have preordered, and will be available for the rest on the 24th. I have played the demo.
Bad.
ASS!
I'm now looking forward to this game even more, and I'm sure I'll be playing it several more times before Rocktober 13th comes around... It lets you play the whole 1st level of the game, including the opening cinematic and up to the 1st boss fight. Not only that, the opening scene is skippable if you don't want to watch it for the umpteenth time in a row. (but it's still ****ing awesome!) If I had any doubts whatsoever, I have now been utterly, irrevocably convinced...
The Metalocalypse has begun.
Yes thank you, Lava Spike is exactly what I was talking about. Chain Lightning against anything but red is just evil, I'll definitely be looking for copies of those 2 cards for my own burn deck... Rift Bolt is great too.
Hellspark Elemental is a very nasty card and, since it's a recent uncommon, it's very easy to get a full playset of thrm. I forget the name but there's another 1 mana to play 3 damage card exactly like Lightning Bolt, except it only works on players, not creatures. I run a burn deck to usually good effect. I don't have any Spark Elemental and only 2 Ball Lightning but the idea is the same. Since most of your creatures die at end of turn anyway, Volcanic Fallout can be a great weenie/token removal spell as well as 2 damage to each player.
Anyway there's new info on this game, for those who are interested. An important aspect of the game's developement was that the Double Fine team wanted to make a game with multiplayer, and so this game was built around the idea of multiplayer gameplay. The format? A very intiguing-looking mix between action and RTS! That's right, I said RTS. The multiplayer mode involves you setting up a rock show and competing against the other shows. Your base is your stage. The resources are what appear to be geysers of screaming souls; actually, they're metal fans. You capture these resource points by playing a guitar riff to make them loyal to you, and then build a merchandise booth to keep them loyal. With these fans you can produce units. An interesting aspect to this is that you can hop in and personally control any of your units. You can also tear things up with your avatar, gliding around the battlefield on wings of night and shredding with your axes. There are 3 factions: Ironheade, the army you build during singleplayer, which is based generally on heavy/thrash metal. Then there's Creeping Doom, a faction of black metal/doom metal fans who look sorta... undead. (Bonus points, one of their units that you get to kill looks like a steryotypical emo kid! :jam:) The 3rd army is Tainted Coil, a demonic army based on industrial metal. There are several videos floating around that show just how awesome this game is looking, demo is due on the 17th. Anyone else psyched out of their ****ing minds for this game?
I'm not very fluent in blue, but in a red deck 4 Lightning Bolt is never a bad investment. It's a common in M10, in case you don't have any of the older ones.

I wish I had a job.
