The End of an Era

As far as villainous monologues go, the one at the end of this film was pretty awesome, even though the scheme was to kill hitler, which is not traditionally a villainous thing to do. Also, out of Apprx. 20 characters with speaking parts,
    4
of them live at the end, which is one of the things that let me know this was a Tarantino film. Not as much blood as I might expect from a Tarantino, but there was enough.

hey, none taken, I am well aware that three card comboes that Still don't actually win the game are not the cutting edge of competitive technology. Just wanted some suggestions on what cards to run so my buddy can win 2 out of 10 games with a zany combo and be happy in that special way that only johnnies can be happy. (I'm a timmy, so I run Bant with a big old pile of Exalted critters and Warp World :p )

Oh right, you're actually using a Win Condition. the current Win Con in my friends deck is Prodigal Pyromancer :p

Invest in Seige Gang Commander. He is still the best goblin ever, and he is still legal. I recommend including 4 copies, and to make room, go ahead and cut the Voracious Dragons (SGC puts just as much power on the board), the Boggart Mobs (No Champion requirement SGC gets through for damage more reliably because he already has chumps), the Lightning crafters (This guy is funny and has style, but he conistently gets shot with lightning. SGC is much harder to kill with spot removal because he is multiple creatures), AND the Shared Animosity. S.A. doesn't do anything on its own. When you're staring at a blank board with nothing on it praying to topdeck that one card that will help you win - SA is not it. Seige Gang is. Furthermore, SGC has amazing synergy with Chieftain. And lastly, the best part of SGC IMO: Have you ever attacked your opponent for the win, only for him to pull a trick from somewhere and wind up at one or two life, buying just one more turn, which may or may not be enough to win the game? Well, don't give him the opportunity! If your opponent pulls a surprise, it is sometimes enough to sacrifice one or two goblins to deal 2 or 4 damage and seal the game then and there. SGC has won so many games on my behalf I cannot begin to recount them all. I cannot support that card enough.

If you actually cut all 8 cards I suggested, that will also give you room for some more one drops. I suggest first four copies of Tattermunge Maniac, and then Knucklebone Witch if you desire more. I also highly recommend playing with creatures that you can play on the first turn.

In the Sideboard, the best idea (In my experience, of course, so your mileage may vary) the best idea is to find a card that works against a particular deck and play the full compliment in the side. For instance, if you find that Volcanic Fallout is good against fairies, you will want to draw a Volcanic Fallout in game 2, and playing all 4 copies maximizes your odds of doing that. So I usually wind up with a 4-4-4-3 Sideboard.

    Thanks for listening!

there isn't any reason to pull off the Combo again? I'm sorry, I must not understand you. I don't know why I wouldn't have to pull off the combo again.

Thanks a lot for the good responses, keep them coming.

About Wheel of Sun and Moon: That is a good idea, and leads to a very different deck. This deck came about partly because my friend was trying to come up with some way to abuse Mirror of Fate, and this is the one he found. The Wheel would make for a very different Time Warp recursion engine.

Well, it turns out that when you use Mirror of Fate, then respond to it by removing all graveyards from the game with Relic of Progenitus, and you have previously put a Time warp in the graveyard, you can put Time Warp, Mirror of Fate, and Relic of Progenitus all in your library and potentially do it again next turn. you can use Jace and howling Mine and font of Mythos to draw all the cards you need (minimum 3).

Now, lets assume that you have a wild hair and want to play a deck that gets infinite turns by reusing Time warp every turn. What 48 other cards would you play in this deck?

This was a great science fiction movie. The aliens come to earth, and get treated like dirt. Thier technology is useless, they aren't sophisticated or smart, they're just regular people - who are also completely unlike us. They love Cat Food and raw goat meat and they have a different definition of what constitutes polite.

The humans act like humans through and through. The Nigerians trade cat food for alien technology they can't use, which is a great deal in a way, but also completely pointless. their leader believes that eating Prawn flesh will give him the ability to use the alien weapons, which strikes me as a very human thing to do. Humans have had a lot of similar beliefs over the centuries.

Basically, the humans in this movie are totally inhumane, and I find that to be very believable. Also, the director sets up a world that is very open ended for future plot lines, but if this does become a franchise, I hope they don't revisit any of the main characters. Van Der Merwe is kind of annoying, his entire supporting cast in regular life failed to support him in this movie, and the audience still doesn't know anything about Christopher the Prawn.

Everyone is a liar. Heroes is not a good show, it is extremely disappointing and it steals ideas blatantly from the 4400, which really WAS a good show but a bit slow paced. If you want Superheores that act like normal, everyday people, try "No Heroics", a british comedy that takes place primarily in a pub.

Also, Supernatural and Veronica Mars are two of my favorite television shows ever and may be among the finest television created on this earth. I am checking out Wonderfalls now and I find it charming, much like Pushing Daisies. Why must all the silly, heartwarming shows get cancelled? I guess Americans don't like silly and heartwarming.

I'm also watching Burn Notice. It pushes the same buttons MacGuyver does, but Mr. Weston has more steady characters and - *Gasp* - something resembling an overarching Plot?!?!?!

I concur with your assesments. Jund Charm does little to help your deck win, and Gluttonous Slime will probably not surprise anyone. Rather, I would run 4 copies of your preferred burn spell that costs less than three mana, or maybe resounding thunder if you are so inclined, and two copies of another token producing card, like Goblin assault. I am a big fan of goblin assault, for very few logic reasons. Necrogenesis requires a significant mana investment for the return, and personally I would try to acquire 4 Bitterblossoms and 4 Goblin Assaults, but I might be crazy. Scratch that, I know I'm crazy. Don't listen to me.

In that case, they need to spend more time on the "six months ago" because this is the second time Cameron has been deactivated and I think it's important to the storyline... who knows when she'll malfunction next?

Next season Finale. Malfunction is impossible at any time before that.

I voted Doom because he has the best options for a Team of Rivals cabinet. Think about it!

    Sec Commerce: Tony Stark
    Sec State: Charles Xavier
    Vice President: Reed Richards
Ambassador to the UN: Dr. Strange
    Sec Energy: Bruce Banner

Lex Luthors cabinet would be more like:

    Sec State: Batman
    Sec Energy: Batman
    Sec Commerce: Batman
    Ambassador to stuff: Batman
    Etc, Etc, Etc,

I am impressed at this most recent episode and the way that the writers are managing to bring their divergent plot points together.

Could Riley be a time traveler too? Her outburst suggests that she knows about the apocalypse, but is it because she lived it or is she taking Jesse's word for it?

not to be rude but hmmmmmm?

are you saying that its not alive cause it isn't planning well?

I wasn't discussing the living/dead status of the company. I was just postulating what would eventually happen to the money it generated, which is of much more interest to me personally than the question of whether or not it is alive.

Hi, I was thinking about doing a Dungeons and Dragons campaign set in one of the Magic settings, probably Ravnica or Alara. Where could I find Semi-comprehensive information about a variety of different Magic settings that would get me up to speed on the details of one specific plane, without having to buy a ton of Magic cards and read the flavor text?

New (to me) thoughts about Ruby. I think she may see the potential in Yellow-Eyes scheme. But without his resources, she has to convince Sam to do it willingly, rather than threaten to kill his family all the time like Azazel was so fond of doing. If she can teach Sam that A) not all demons need to be killed, and B) the ones she doesn't like DO need to be killed, and C) the ones she does like will follow orders and be nice and obedient, like her, She could get the old guard of demon baddies killed and ride the new wave all the way to the top. Rather than give the orders, like Azazel wanted to do, she would be more of a Wormtongue adviser.

    I could be crazy, though.

I agree, when Castiel and Dean have a sit down chat, it makes for good television.

I think that part of Rubys purpose (in the series, not necessarily for her character) is to show Sam that not all Demons are evil. That even though its easy to believe that the world is black and white, demons are bad, angels are good, it doesn't work that way. I think that's a worldview Sam will fall into easily, and it contrasts with Deans usual "Badguys need killin" mentality that he still falls back on. Even as the Angels show him that being good is hard, and not always worthwhile.

Also, I think it is good news that we now have an unholy counterpart to the Demon trapping circle, the Angel Dispelling Circle. And apparently an incantation that can do something really rude to an angel that Alistair didn't get to finish. It is high time the Angels left their almighty high horse. I think when the Angels put Dean between a rock and a hard place (which they are perfectly willing to do), Sam will be the one using Blood Magic to save the day - putting another wedge between the brothers. Sam will tread very lightly down the Ends-Justify-Means road, and Dean will not have any of it.

Of course, everything I say is %100 wishful thinking.
